Editorial Reviews

From the Artist
I've always loved Christmas music. My favorite childhood memories include scenes from Christmas Eve pageants, caroling hayrides and the family gathered around the piano singing our favorite carols. Making my debut solo release a Christmas project seemed as natural as...well, dumping the fruitcake and keeping the tin. And inviting my children's choir to sing with me on the albumseemed equally as natural. After all, what would Christmas be without children?

I had a great time working with Michael Kingsley on these arrangements and orchestrations. I wanted the songs to sound warmly familiar, yet unique and provocative. I think we've succeeded in offering a variety of styles and sounds that will provide a perfect soundtrack for nestling by the fire.

Something quite magical happens in this season. When we resist falling prey to the commercial frenzy that surrounds Christmas and quietly reflect on the peace and light that were born on that first holy night, wounded hearts are healed, walls of separation come tumbling down and hope is restored. If one moment from one of these songs can facilitate that kind of rebirth in a listener, I'll consider this project a success. Merry Christmas and happy listening.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite Christmas CD.......2004-05-16

Michael is a wonderfully talented individual. I have been fortunate to attend the Christmas pagent at St Michael's Church when Michael released his CD. His songs are original and beautiful.

Can't wait until Michael releases his next CD.

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Christmas CD.......2002-11-16

I received "These Make The Season" CD as a gift last October. I thought that the CD would be the same old Christmas tunes sung in the traditional way, but I was pleasanly surprised. There are original songs written by the artist that are beautifully written, composed, and sung. And even the traditional Christmas songs are recorded with unique variations that really work well with the Michael Fawcett's amazing voice. I've been listening to this CD even after Christmas to give me that happy Christmas season all year. I recommend this CD for all ages, and it is a great Christmas gift for anyone on your list.

5 out of 5 stars These songs DO make the Season!.......2001-10-30

I just had the pleasure of listening to the songs on the new These Make The Season CD by Michael Fawcett. His voice is incredible and the songs chosen for the CD are wonderful. The songs will truly uplift you. They are lively and the musical score adds to, not detracts from, the overall arrangements. Michael is truly a gifted musician with a God-given voice. This is definitely one CD you will need to add to your Christmas collection!

4 out of 5 stars Heartwarming!.......2001-06-19

An excellent holiday collection. Great for creating a pleasant and soothing background for home or office--but you'll want to have an opportunity to listen sometime when you can devote your full attention, too!

Michael Fawcett has a good, rich voice with a smoothness reminiscent of Perry Como and Bing Crosby. It's nice to find a contemporary singer with such talent.

The collection is a combination of seasonal standards and original songs by Fawcett. Many of the old standards are presented in unique arrangements that add a new depth to the timeless music. I particularly enjoyed GENTLEMEN'S SUITE, AVE MARIA, and O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL. Fawcett's original songs are a nice addition. HIS GIFT is a hauntingly powerful piece, while IT'S CHRISTMASTIME and THESE MAKE THE SEASON add a brighter, more contemporary feel to the collection. The only piece which feels somewhat out of place in the collection is the RUDOLPH MEETS FROSTY medley, but it has a certain charm to it once you get past the contrived spoken intro.

The St. Michael Children's Choir is featured on a number of the pieces to good effect, but the star of the show is undoubtedly Fawcett. Definitely a promising start for a new recording artist.

Well worth adding to your personal music library.

5 out of 5 stars Made me glad I am home for Christmas........2000-11-21

Listening to Michael's heartfelt songs made me realize how happy I am to be back home with my family this special time of year. His original song, "It's Christmastime" brings back warm memories of Christmas and "These Make the Season" take me back to when we were little and would attend Midnight Mass with the fresh falling snow around as we walked up to church. Michael's twist on some of my favorites are especially nice to hear and nothing sounds more precious than a childrens choir. Excellent job!
