Excellent Intro for Those Not Familiar with the Orchestra.......2003-11-08
The narrator and writer is a great speaker and holds your attention well. He is definitely knowledgeable. He provides musical examples for each point he makes, so you get to "hear" what he just talked about. I'd say the CDs are about 65% music and 35% narration. You'll learn about the range of instruments, some history, different ways to play them, how they sound, and how they are used in the orchestra. This CD set was a great learning experience and is sold at such a low price!
I recommend this CD for those who want to learn about classical music and those who know about it but are interested in learning more about the inner workings of an orchestra. You'll learn much useful information. For instance, the Rite of Spring (with that eerie start) is written for bassoon! I never knew a bassoon could sound like that but now I do.
The one complaint I have is the last CD. This deals with the orchestra. I wanted more of a tour of how the orchestra has been used through history up to the present. Instead, it was a tour of how different groups of instruments sound. I thought it could have been better. The other 6 CDs are excellent.

A Great Intro to American Classical Music - Almost a Short Course!.......2005-07-12
There are selections by twenty-eight composers stretching from the amazing Wagnerian 'Macbeth' Overture by William Henry Fry (1813-1864) to the very recent 'Rapture,' a percussion concerto by Michael Torke (b. 1961). Some selections are complete movements, others are shorter passages from larger works. Included are such gems as the first movement of Arthur Foote's Piano Quartet, the third movement of Henry Hadley's Fourth Symphony, Charles Ives's 'The Unanswered Question,' 'King Cotton' by John Philip Sousa, 'Maple Leaf Rag' by Scott Joplin, a passage (the exciting Spanish Waltz) from Walter Piston's 'The Incredible Flutist,' the finale of Copland's 'Billy the Kid,' the opening of Samuel Barber's luminous 'Knoxville - Summer of 1915,' 'Tonight' from Bernstein's 'West Side Story,' the opening of George Rochberg's masterful Violin Concerto, and John Adams's incredibly popular 'Short Ride in a Fast Machine.' Plus selections by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, Edward MacDowell, George Whitefield Chadwick, Amy Beach, Charles Tomlinson Griffes, Charles Wakefield Cadman, George Gershwin, George Antheil, Zez Confrey, William Schuman, John Cage, Gunther Schuller, Alan Hovhaness, Elliott Carter and Philip Glass. The performances are more than acceptable and in some instances ('Knoxville,' Rochberg's Violin Concerto) definitive.
I would heartily recommend this set (especially at its superbudget price) to anyone wanting to know more about the history of American classical music -- Scherer is a master of cogent, clear prose -- and wishing to hear examples of the broad range it has taken over the past couple of centuries. I can easily imagine this set being used in a music appreciation course. And I am sure it will spark interest in the newcomer to this branch of classical music.

The first three tracks are pathetic, the first two not having much difference than an instrumental & orchestral song! Versions of 2 Become 1 are really downhill but I did like these songs. Just check out the Dave Cross Remix for the amazing music!
Three, One Of These Girls, is the worst of the worst. The lyrics make you cry and they are pathetic: One Of these girls is doin' their own thing, one of these girls is just not the same. I prefer Bumper To Bumper but that's pretty rubbish too!
Track four is the look-foward to track. It's a remix of Wannabe by Junior Vasquez. It's a great 5:57 minute remix which will keep you dancing and suprisingly, the song is a one to treasure! It starts off with a thumping beat and will for-definate keep you on your feet!
Bad single, good remix of Wannabe.
One of the best value Spice singles.......2003-12-09
2 Become 1 is still a epic ballad that needs to be recognised. It is still very beautiful. Emma, Geri, Victoria, Mel B and Mel C all shine on these four tracks. Here is my track rundown
1. 2 Become 1 (Single Version)
A classic Spice Girls song! Their third single and the 1996 Christmas No.1 single, this is a beautiful ballad. This is one of the best Spice ballads to date. Emma sounds fantastic on the bridges and Mel B does a great job on the choruses. Very good. 5/5
2. 2 Become 1 (Orchestral Version)
This version is very cool. I love the orchestral music at the beginning and end. This is the same as the above song, but with orchestral music instead of the normal music. The vocals are the same. Even better then the single version. 5/5
3. One Of These Girls
This song is soooo good! The Spice Girls have brilliant B-sides. You can't not like this song! It is very catchy and upbeat - a refreshing difference from the last two tracks. Each girl gets a chance to sing during the verses and the chorus will get stuck in your head. Brilliant. 5/5
4. Wannabe (Junior Vasquez Remix Edit)
This remix is very, very funky. I don't like remixes usually, but this is seriously cool. It starts off with a thumping beat, with the girls singing 'Ahhh' and 'Wannabe' over and over again, then kicks into the chorus, being sung very fast. You can never get bored of this remix, it keeps you on your feet and dancing, and singing along. The beats are fantastic during this 6 minute track. 5/5
Overall, a good value single with a different version of 2 Become 1, a bonus track and a remix of the girls' debut single. It would have been better though if they'd included the Spanish version of 2 Become 1, which is better then the Orchestral version. But this is still a great single. Long live Girl Power!

The people who promote Jewel are dumb!.......2005-09-23
As for the third single 2 Become 1- It's one of the weakest on the album! I don't get why they'd choose it as a single.
SWEET TEMPTATION should have been the third single and they make it out to be a B side which makes no sense. This rocking song could of had an awesome video and been a huge hit. It disappoints me so much when I see an album like 0304 overlooked so much.
Here's to hoping her next album, slated for release early next year, gets the promotion it deserves!

Album Description
This new 72-minute CD features Russian pianist Vassily Primakov performing Chopin's most beloved piano works, including the Fantaisie in F minor, Barcarolle, Scherzo in C-sharp minor, Berceuse, and all four Ballades. Frédéric Chopin's compositions, full of moonbeams and longing, sweeping passion and revolutionary outburst, are among the favorite literature of all pianists today.Of his four compositions in the fantasy form, the Fantaisie in F minor, Op. 49, is one of his highest achievements, moving from start to finish through a relentless course of drama and dreams. Some have called it his "fifth Ballade" for its musical narrative and melodic flow.
Among Chopin's most imaginative (and popular) works are the beautiful Berceuse, the composer's only lullaby, and the stunning Barcarolle, with its rocking rhythms and hints of the splendors of old Venice. The Barcarolle has also been called the "sixth Ballade" for its rich complexity of musical invention and harmonic development.
Chopin's four ballades are rooted in the musical form of an old story (stanza) and refrain, a "sung narration" that in the case of his particular compositions has given rise to various programmatic tales about each piece.
Chopin's scherzos, also four in all, include the stormy C-sharp minor Scherzo, Op. 39, full of anger, protest and fighting spirit. Composed in 1839 during the composer's miserable stay on the island of Majorca with George Sand, this work is also interlaced with zal, an almost untranslatable Polish word meaning "sorrow," and is also, according to Huneker, a subtle quality that is "ironical, sad, sweet, joyous, morbid, sour, sane and dreamy."
In the final analysis, zal permeated all of Chopin's music, his life as well as his death, after which his heart was removed and buried in Poland, while his precious silver urn of Polish earth was buried with his body in Paris. "Poland, Poland," wrote the French music essayist Georges Jean-Aubry, "how many nights has he held her to his heart."
