This set of Anna Russell's inspired satirical monologues should be labeled with a warning notice. Why? Because after listening to her whirlwind explication of Wagner's Ring Cycle, even the most confirmed Wagnerite will be unable to listen to the Ring for weeks to come. Just listening to Russell declare in an incredulous voice: "I'm not making this up, y'know" is enough to induce you to shed bucketloads of laughter-induced tears. Gilbert and Sullivan fans will find their heroes savaged in her concoction of a typical G&S product, complete with a soprano lead who "loves below her station." Other targets include "the nymphs and shepherds" style of quavery English singing, complete with "hey-nonny-nonny's," coloratura mad scenes, and much else, including Russian folk songs, like her "Da, nyet, da, nyet." This disc is packed with laughs, chuckles, smiles, and everything. --Dan Davis

3 out of 5 stars Intelligent and musical fun.-.......2007-01-13

Due to the recent passing away of the legenday Anna Russell I bought this record and certainly did not regret it.- Inspite of having been originally recorded in 1952 and 1953 the sound is very good.- Ms. Russell combines a great sense of humour with profound musical knowledge, a wonderful timing of her jokes, and the talent of a gifted and very musical singer.- She captures the essence of the German lied, the French mélodie, the efforts of a dramatic soprano to make herself heard over the huge Wagnerian orchestra, culminating in her famous, already classic, 22 minutes long analysis of Wagner's Ring of the Nibelungs.- I listened to this recording three times in a row and had great fun.- Only Victor Borge can be compared to her with respect to this rare combination of deep musicianship with a real gift for comedy.- If you don't know yet these numbers, don't hesitate - buy the record, you will not be sorry.-

5 out of 5 stars The Genius of Anna Russell.......2006-03-15

If you love music, but are happy to see the funny side of even the great composers, then this album is for you. Anna Russell is a singer of note but a comedian of greatness. She finds the pivotal styles of composers and caricatures them to great effect. The explanations she gives of the basics of Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas and the way she dissects Wagners Ring Cycle bring tears to the eyes with laughter. I recommend this album to all music lovers with a twinkle in their eyes. Truly a great comic experience.

5 out of 5 stars If you enjoy laughing.........2006-02-23

I love opera, but I also enjoy spoofs of opera. Anna Russell was a classic "spoofer" of operatic stories and conventions. Nobody does it better. My favorite on this album is her take-off on Wagner's "Ring."

This CD can probably also be enjoyed by those who have only a nodding acquaintance with opera, but may not be enjoyed by those who take opera with 100% seriousness.

5 out of 5 stars Anna Russell strikes again!.......2005-10-14

I have heard all of these Anna Russell selections at one time or another, but having them all together in one place, and on a CD, is a real plus. She is absolutely riotously funny. I teach a course in "Introduction to opera" and use her segments on Gilbert and Sullivan and on the Ring Cycle in class, just to lighten things up a bit for the students.

5 out of 5 stars Anna Russell is a SCREAM!.......2005-08-05

I've had the vinyl of this album for over 20 years; the CD purchase was to update my system. For anyone who loves classical vocal music, and in particular the Wagner Ring Cycle and Gilbert and Sullivan, this album is a MUST. You will split your sides laughing; Ms. Russell is so very accurate in her comedy. Also, truth to tell, her Ring synopsis gave me, a newcomer to Wagner (years ago) a solid understanding of the musical plot and story line.

Its hard to go wrong on a worship-oriented release that features Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, and David Crowder. That's why this Passion concert CD is a slam-dunk winner. It's accessible rock music performed in an electric, live environment, with a vertical lyrical focus. Tomlin's penchant for excelling in a concert setting is once again defined through his energetic delivery of "The Famous One" as well as covers of "God of Wonders" and Delirious's "My Glorious." Hall's quieter "Prepare the Way" and "Sweep Me Away" provide welcome relief from the high-energy release openers. Crowder rings true with his trademark "Our Love Is Loud" and a delightful reworking of the hymn "Come Thou Fount." Appropriately enough, the release ends with Tomlin's "Dance in the River," a rocker that is steeped in U2 soundalike guitars, culling just enough influence from the Edge to ignite the crowd into a frenzy. --Michael Lyttle

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Mix of Crowder and Tomlin.......2005-04-01

Our Love is Loud is the first of the Passion Cd's that I have listened to, but I am very familiar with Crowder and Tomlin. In fact, they are two of my favorite worship bands along with Sonic Flood. This CD has all of the great worship songs I am familiar with like "Come thou Fount" and "My Glorious" done in unique and new ways. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who likes Chris Tomlin or the David Crowder Band as you become a fan of every song on the CD after a few times through. You will find yourself rocking out to God wherever you are.

5 out of 5 stars awesome worship.......2004-12-04

ive listened to many worship bands and everything passion has to offer as of now, but this album has to be the greatest worship album ive ever heard. If its not the best than its tied for first with their other album, ancient hymns; modern and new!!! If you love passion you will also love Chris Tomlin, especially "Not to Us", and "Arriving". Also check out "Watermark"

5 out of 5 stars Tuning In To Jesus........2004-10-15

The Passion tour is one of the best, perhaps the best, concert to occur in Christian music. Out of all the Passion albums out there, OUR LOVE IS LOUD comes very close to being the best Passion album produced. The songs on the album I enjoy singing most are:

"Here I Am To Worship"

"Famous One"

"Our Love is Loud" (the title track, duh)

"Come Thou Fount"

"God of Wonders"

On most albums (even Christian praise and worship ones) there's usually a few songs that I totally skip over when I listen to the cd. I can't say that about OUR LOVE IS LOUD because even the songs that I am not most drawn to are songs that are still great to listen to. Complement this album with SACRED REVOLUTION and you have some of the best praise music being written and sung in the past three years.

5 out of 5 stars The best worship album I have ever heard.......2003-06-03

I have listened to alot of worship albums, and this one is the best one I have heard. Sound quality is great, and the songs are awesome. It's a live performance, and that's one of the reasons why I think it's as good as it is. This album is a recording of a very real, very intense, and ever enormous worship time. It sounds like literally thousands of people attended the concert, and that means literally thousands of people were worshiping God while this was being recorded. My point is it's real. It's not worship songs that were recorded for the sake of sounding good. No, the artists and people involved were actually worshiping God when this was recorded. And upon listening, the feeling and the "passion" produced can be heard, and felt. If you like to worship God, and you are searching for a means to do so, buy this album. I'm sure it wont dissapoint you. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars Better than One Day.......2003-04-27

I love all the Passion cds, however this is my favorite. The voices, the worship, the passion, you can just feel His presence listening to this disc. I encourage both Christians and non-Christians to buy it. The Passion Worship Band rocks and their Love Is Loud!

    Customer Reviews:

    4 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2006-08-06

This is a wonderful double CD of fabulous musical numbers performed by theatre greats and directed by a legandary musical director.

5 out of 5 stars Simply the Best.......2005-06-29

First, to the person who criticizes the recording b/c of "Broadway Baby." Daisy Egan (who sings in in this recording) sounds like she's 10 becuase she IS young. She had just appeared on Braodway in Secret Garden and won a Tony for it. It's a joke...Broadway BABY...hello, it's a joke.

In a compilation of songs like this you're always going to have tracks that you prefer over others, but the majority of the renditions in this CD are great. This is simply one of the best collections of Sondheim out there. You get interpretations that span from "classical" (Green Finch), to bordering on insane (Anything Twice). This is to demonstrate how versatile this composer really is.

In my opinion, some of the best renditions are "Not a Day Goes By," "Anyone Can Whistle", "Girls Upstairs Medley," "Losing My Mind/Drive a Person Crazy," and "Weekend inthe Country." Makes me wish I had been there to witness it first hand.

If you love Sondheim and enjoy hearing Broadway performers, get this CD. A great recording.

4 out of 5 stars Inconsistent, but mostly excellent.......2004-03-21

I am sure no knowledgeable person would deny how absolutely perfect all these songs are. However, the performances on this album are extremely inconsistent. It will go from an excellent rendition (Waiting for the Girls medley, Sunday, With So Little To Be Sure Of, Sooner or Later, Green Finch, Send in the Clowns, Pretty Lady) to the weird (I never Do Anything Twice), to the bad (Broadway Baby, Our Time). I still have absolutely no idea how they managed to butcher one of the best songs ever written--Good Thing Going--and turn it into smooth jazz elevator music. Why would they give Broadway Baby to someone who sounds like she's 10? That said, Liza Minelli, Glenn Close, Karen Ziemba, Dorothy Laudon and the "Waiting for the Girls" performers are all very good. And ending with Bernadette Peters and "Sunday" ends the set on a absolutley fabulous note.

5 out of 5 stars "Celebration" is not strong enough a word.......2003-04-30

    This review is by Crosley.

I have been a major Sondheim fan for quite some time, and I finally obtained a copy of this album. I was blown away by the excellent cast and phenomenal selection of music. It is obvious how much work went into this production, considering that this is the live recording of a one time show, and it's flawless. The songs cover all of his shows with the exception of "Passion," which was released 3 years after this show. Also, the shows for which he wrote only lyrics are ommited, like West Side Story, Gypsy, etc. Thus, you can find material from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone can Whistle, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Merrily we Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods, and Assassins.

There are two striking things about this CD (besides the music and performers themselves). First of all, some of the songs are completely stylistically reworked. The most obvious are "Good Thing Going" and "I Never do Anything Twice." Both are traditionally very ballady with a piano accompaniment, but here they have been redone as jazzy tunes. The result is excellent. Such reworkings demonstrate that Sondheim writes music for virtually any style, and in these cases, across several styles. It's a great example of his variety. The other interesting thing is how many songs have overlapping melodies of songs from different shows. Case in point, "Our Time" and "No one is Alone" are sung seperately by the Harlem Boys Choir and Betty Buckley (the original Grizabella in Webber's atrocious "CATS," although Buckley was excellent) respectively, and then combined. Putting these two songs together offer different meanings to each, and the music is only enhanced. Another example, the trio of "Waiting for the Girls Upstairs," "Love, I Hear," and "Live Alone and Like It" are sung in that order, and then the latter two are combined. Again, the meanings of the songs change, this time in an almost narrative style, and offering different takes on love in the same montage. Lastly (at least for this review, there are more), Dorothy Laudon's (the original Ms. Hannigan in Annie) combination of "Losing my Mind" and "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" is brilliant. Those who are familiar with these songs will wonder how exactly they fit, but trust me, they do. She swtiches back and forth between melodies to create a number that starts poignant and beautiful, and soon moves to become uproariously funny. Both the song reworkings and overlapping melodies of unrelated songs are all for the better.

I recommend this recording to anyone wanting to get better acquainted with some of Sondheim's best work, or those already familiar who want to hear a tour de force of phenomenal music. It has been said that Sondheim is a masterful lyricist (which he is), but lacks real talent for music. This CD is the final proof that such critics are wrong. His music may take a few listenings to get into, contrary to Webber or Wildhorn, but unlike those two, he doesn't cater to the audience. He challenges them to think outside of traditional musical theater in a glorious repertoise of shows that reach for a smarter, more sophisticated form.

    5 out of 5 stars A maginificent evening, a magnificent album.......2001-12-16

There's something to be said for the first concert you ever see at Carnegie Hall. I was fortunate enough to have this be my first. This entire evening was devoted to his genius and the performers did not disappoint.

This wonderful double CD shows off the best and brightest of the musical theatre composer and it is, as one person put it, "an embarassment of riches." With songs from his finest works done in amazing arrangements (listen to that harmony in "We Had a Good Thing Going"!) combined with fabulous performers this is a Sondheim lovers delight.

My favorite song is, without a doubt, Dorothy Louden and her wonderful medley of "Losing My Mind" into "You Could Drive a Person Crazy" followed very closely by the recently departed Madeline Kahn singing "Getting Married Today."

    4 out of 5 stars Klassical KISS..........2004-06-25

KISS tribute albums started cropping up more than a decade ago very quickly oversaturating this market with a multitude of cds of varying quality (Hard To Believe, KISS of Death, Spacewalk). Now comes a tribute cd that offers a fresh and unique take on old KISS classics. Classical orchestration has long been a staple of KISS' repertoire, going back to the string ensemble used for the mega-hit Beth in 1976 progressing to the orchestral leanings and gregorian style chanting of the Elder album (1981) to the symphonic version of Black Diamond on their official KISS My A** tribute album to 2003's full blown KISS Symphony project.
This quartet interprets both well known KISS tunes (Detroit Rock City, Rock and Roll All Night) and more obscure material (Goin' Blind). Some of the choices are downright offbeat, a string quartet version of the funky Ace Frehley number New York Groove...surely you jest...but what is remarkable is how well it works.
Undisputed highlights are the beautiful renditions of Hard Luck Woman, Goin' Blind and Beth. The quartet incorporates subtle new parts that compliment these well loved melodies tremendously. Love Gun and I Was Made For Lovin' You are extremely powerful renditions also, if not just a little too reminiscent of the KISS Symphony cd and dvd. Even overplayed numbers like Calling Dr.Love and Rock and Roll All Nite are given new life by this incredibly talented ensemble.
From the Rock and Roll Over album influenced cover art to the last strains of New York Groove, this unique tribute cd is a winner all the way.

5 out of 5 stars From a (classic) KISS and Classical music Fan!.......2004-04-23

EXCELLENT! I just bought this CD, and have already listened to it a half dozen times. I am a HUGE fan from the classic KISS years (1974-1979 - the years with Peter and Ace in the group).
If you are a KISS fan, and also like string quartet music, you will love this. If you are a fan of either (KISS or string quartet music), you will have a better appreciation and like for both after purchasing and hearing this CD.
These guys give the correct respect to classic KISS performance and it is especially seen in the string harmonies, and Ace's guitar solos in each song (except of course "Beth" which didn't have a solo by Ace until the "Unplugged" CD). The only down side of this are the songs that aren't on it, but hopefully that will mean a Volume 2!

    GREAT CD!

    4 out of 5 stars Unsung Sondheim.......2007-05-20

What a collection of unsung Sondheim tunes. At times I wondered why these songs had been dropped from shows. Well sung by the various artists.

3 out of 5 stars Valuable only if you don't have any of these songs elsewhere.......2006-10-07

In the early 90's this was a fascinating CD, as it gave listeners a chance to hear many of Sondheim's "lost treasures" which might otherwise be gone forever. (The man does not do "trunk songs" which can be dropped into other shows.) Time, however, has not been kind to this collection. The first four tracks from "Saturday Night" have some bouncy charm (I never realized before how naughty the lyrics for "Love's a Bond" are), but with the glorious complete cast album released a few years ago with David Campbell in the lead, they've now been rendered redundant. (And "In The Movies," though boasting endearing vocals, suffers with all of its context and intercutting songs gone.) "What Can You Lose" can't measure up to Madonna and Mandy Patinkin's sensitive performance on her "I'm Breathless" album (and that would hardly qualify as "unsung"). "That Old Piano Roll" is fun but slight, and "Truly Content" mines the same lyrical phrase over and over till the fun wanes, despite Judy Kaye's winning vocals. "Water Under the Bridge" is one of the weakest songs Sondeheim's probably ever done, and deserves obscurity. Other, better songs here with often exquisite renditions are nonetheless available on other discs, and thus again hardly qualify as "unsung": "I Believe In You," a sweet and lovely song, is on Bernadette Peters' second "Sondheim Etc." CD (though Rebecca Luker's warm, enchanting rendition here is nothing to sneeze at), Mandy Patinkin frantically covered "Multitudes of Amys" on "Experiment," Madeline Kahn and Peters jousted with "There's Always a Woman" on the "Anyone Can Whistle" cast album from the mid-90's (props to Kaye Ballard's biting performance here though), Streisand covered "Goodbye for Now" on "The Movie Album" (and gave it a poignancy and depth it probably doesn't really deserve for such a drab little song). What's left? A cheerful, seemingly menage-a-trois ditty called "The Two of You" (which, bizarrely, was apparently written for "Kukla, Fran and Ollie"). A just plain wonderful "No, Mary Anne," which combines an impassioned performance, hard-bitten realism and sweeping romanticism into something quintessentially Sondheim. (The liner notes indicate that Sondheim expected this to be a parody of a big hit song, "like 'Hello Dolly!'" Those who know anything about Sondheim--and the yawning chasm between his style and Jerry Herman's--may find their heads exploding at that one.) Two endless instrumental pieces from "The Enclave" and "Invitation to a March" (tracks #6 and #12) that are mostly remarkable for how uninteresting they are. The liner notes are outstanding and offer lots of intriguing perspective (listening to "Multitudes of Amys," and you just might wish that "Company" had ended as it was orginally intended to). If you don't have CDs by Peters, Madonna, Streisand, et all, this is a great introduction; otherwise, bump it way down the priority list.

4 out of 5 stars Another great trip down the MFU memory lane.......2005-10-19

Volume 2 (comprised of 2 CDs) is another first rate compilation of the series' original music and not to be missed by U.N.C.L.E. fans. The liner notes are wonderful and add a lot to ones appreciation of the music.

My only problem is that THE CDs ARE COPY PROTECTED! Considerable work is needed to get the music onto your iPod, if you really want the music in your mp3 collection. This is a major hassle and a surprise, since the first set in the series was not copy protected.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the three Double CDs ORIGINAL soundtrack release.......2005-07-12

Many of us have always thought The Man From UNCLE had the best music for a TV series ever, and this three double CD release confirms this. Wow! I'd be just happy with one CD, but having SIX (three double CDs packages) is absolutely out of this world, I mean, a lifetime wait come true.

Indeed, this is an unbelievable collection of three double CDs packages with the complete series soundtrack, and I mean the complete music, not a tune is missing.

And this is the ORIGINAL Man From Uncle music. Let me stress the point: this is the four years ORIGINAL soundtrack with the original recordings as they were heard throughout the series, not a no-name orchestra doing personal versions of the stuff. The audio transfer is very, very good, the music from late episodes is even in stereo.

Each individual CD carries over 70 minutes of music. All in all there you have the four TV seasons main titles and all, absolutely all of TMFU unforgetable music.

This is not a chronological release, meaning, all CDs have a mix of music from all four TV seasons. Volume 1 is heavier on early TV seasons stuff, fans of Jerry Goldsmith will love it. Those of us who prefer what Gerald Fried and later Richard Shores did with TMFU music, then volume 2 is mandatory. If you are a fan, you can't miss any of these six CDs. However if buying all three double packages is too much for you, you must go with Volume 2, no questions asked. Volume three is the weakest of them as it brings "suites" and a whole CD with "The Girl From Uncle" soundtrack, but you have a bonus "Open Channel D" beeper.

Each package is gorgeous, each with a glossy color booklet with extensive liner notes with details on how each tune was written to a specific TV series episode and how it was used onwards. You have bios on the composers, on how the recordings were made, even an overview on how many instruments were available in each of the years the music was recorded.

So, throw away your Hugo Montenegro Man From Uncle CD, this is the REAL thing.

4 out of 5 stars Re-listening to OZ from Oz.......2004-01-28

I've been relistening to the original original cast recording of this show. I'm really starting to enjoy it and find it quite entertaining. It has its own wonderful quality and well worth listening to over and over again.
It definitely would NOT have worked on Broadway with these arrangements because it retains too much the quality of a lounge act; not nearly 'big' enough for Broadway. BUT the performances are really terrific and the period arrangements are true to form.
I wish PRETTY KEEN TEEN, SURE THING BABY and TAUGHT BY EXPERTS had been kept in the Broadway production
      Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars OH BOY, WHAT A JOY, THE SHOWS A HIT!!.......2002-12-11

The Boy From Oz had its world opening at HER MAJESTY'S THEATRE Sydney in 1998. As a theatre lover and seen over 70 shows, this musical stands out as #1 around Australia and soon to hit and rule the world.
      The music is outstanding.
      The cast is the best.
      The show PHENOMINAL!!!!

The songs lift your spirits beyond belief. They just make you feel you are up there on that stage with the cast. You would understand why the songs are on this cd and the order they are in as they happen in the show if you saw it first, but trust me you can listen to the cd before you see the show.
The cast featured on this cd are Australias best!
TODD MCKENNEY (Singin'In the Rain, Crazy for You, 42nd Street, Strictly Ballroom{movie})just to name a few, Plays Peter Allen.
CHRISSIE AMPHLETT (The lead singer in the band "The Divinyls", plus several shows) plays JUDY GARLAND.
JILL PERRYMAN (Austarlias lady of the stage and screen {small and big} Hello Dolly!, Funny Girl, Annie, to name a few) plays Peter Allens Mother MARION WOOLNOUGH.
ANGELA TOOHEY (Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar) plays LIZA MINNELLI. A very scary fantastic roll. You would think you were watching Liza on stage she has the role down so well.
Robyn Arthur (Beauty and the Beast, Les Miserables, Cats, Cosi) plays several roles.
Murray Bartlett (4th season of Sex and the City, Australian tv & theatre shows)plays Greg Connell. Peter Allen's partner.

The music that features in this show is outstanding and moving. There are moving/love songs: All i wanted was the dream, Sure thing baby, Quiet please, there is a lady on stage, I'd rather leave while i'm in love, Best that you can do, Love dont need a reason, I honestly love you, Dont cry out loud, Tenterfield Saddler
Fun and enjoyable songs:Continental American, When i get my name in lights, Pretty Keen teen, Only an older woman, Dont wish too hard, Sure thing baby, Taught by experts, Not the boy next door, everything old is new again, she loves to hear the music, I still call australia home, I GO TO RIO!!

The stage, the music, the fun and the life of Australias and the worlds most out there and amazing enterainer comes to life in this musical and cd. When it comes to a stage near you, you have to buy tickets. And if your anything like the millions of Aussies that have seen it you will see it again and again. With the likes of the Phantoms, Les Mis etc.. around and gracing our stages after 20 or so years, i know THE BOY FROM OZ will still be around gracing our stages and our childrens stages for many many many years.

OH BOY! WHAT A JOY! THE BOYS A HIT!

THIS MUSICAL EXPERIENCE WILL TAKE YOU FROM NEW YORK TO RIO AND OLD LONDON TOWN! BUT STILL CALL AUSTRALIA HOME!
OR YOU MIGHT WANT TO GO TO RIO!

      5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!.......1999-12-15

Well, I saw this play while in Syndey in '98, and loved it then, and the more i listen to the soundtrack, the more i love it. It is amazing, and it totally recaps the feel of the play. I honestly love you, and Tenterfeild Saddler are two of the most amazing songs ever writen, and they are even more wonderful on this fabulous album! All praise Peter Allen

      4 out of 5 stars Almost Great.......1999-06-09

The problem with this CD is that it contains only a fraction of the music in the show itself. Admittedly, it contains the major numbers, but a lot of good stuff from the original show is missing. Since it is the only CD available, I recommend it, but if and when this show gets to the London or New York stage, a CD containing more of the entire work will doubtless become available. The liner notes are sparse. The listener who has not seen the show will not have a clue as to what is going on with the story line. This is a real shame, because understanding the story line brings a special poignancy to many of the songs. If you can wait a year or two for another edition to appear, do so. Otherwise buy it now. If it were complete and had better liner notes, I'd give this one five stars plus. The fellow playing Peter Allen and the gal playing Lisa Minelli are dynamite talents.

      5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT - A GREAT CD.......1999-04-17

I must say I have never seen the show here in Australia but after listening to the recording I will have to go see it. The quality of sound is perfect and the track changes are also perfect. Some of the songs on the CD are so well sung it almost brings a tear to your eye for example TENDERFIELD SADDLER, I HONESTLY LOVE YOU and DON'T CRY OUT LOUD The songs arent sung by one person, lines of lyrics are given to characters. Well worth buying to add to your collection

Kiki Ebsen is a singer/songewriter who explores human relationships with great passion, emotion and honesty. Her melodies are unforgettable and her music is deeply moving yet easy to listen to. This CD is beautifully produced in earthy, organic surroundings. The title "Love loud" means "to show great love and compassion in life and share it with others".

      5 out of 5 stars What a great CD!.......2000-11-06

Singer/song writer Kiki Ebsen has got to be one of the great discoveries of this century! (okay, so it is early... be that as it may). I have her first CD, "Red", which I've already replaced once, due to excessive use. In "Red", Ebsen's song-writing skills are aptly showcased in artful jazzy/pop arrangements, keeping the mood elevated with rare glimpses of the emotional depth hidden in the lyrics (such as in songs like "Candle" and "False Hopes") I'm glad to say that "Love Loud" plunges right into that depth and stays there, confidently plucking at emotional strings you never knew you had. I have never felt so emotionally and creatively purged while listening to a CD. Few jazzy, stylized arrangements to hold you back from emotional involvement this time, just that voice and some mostly accoustic instumentation. My favorite cuts include: the passionate "Powerful Natures of Love"-which I dare anyone not to end up humming by the end of the day; "Cry"-where Ebsen arranges haunting background vocals with flair and creates a driving melody; "These 4 Walls"-featuring a Chris Isaacs-like vocal perfomance that displays range as well as power; and "Avenues", where her voice takes on a tragic poignancy seldom heard since Ricki Lee Jones' first album. This CD is a must for anyone who has ever traveled down life's darker roads in search of love.

      5 out of 5 stars A rare find you're sure to enjoy!.......2000-10-24

If you're looking for soulful, fresh music that inspires then you've got to check out Love Loud! I was turned on to Kiki Ebsen's music by a friend and must say that she is one of the best new singer/songwriters that I have had the pleasure of listening to. Her diverse melodies and meaningful lyrics are artfully crafted and make for a cd that you can listen to again and again. Each track has something unique to offer, but my favorites "these four walls", "fire", "angry young soul", and "end of the road" are truly rare finds. In particular, "fire" is a refreshing mix of instrumental and vocal sounds that is sure to break through to the mainstream. Her music exudes a purity and originality that new music lovers are sure to appreciate. Ms. Ebsen's talent and heart come shining through in Love Loud. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

      5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2000-10-23

Loved the CD ... great listening music, at home or driving along in the car, stirring ballads, romantic and rocking dance tunes, beautiful melodic voice. Went to see Kiki perform ...extremely enjoyable performance.

      5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2000-10-23

I just purchased "LOVE LOUD" and I totally love it. Favorite tracks are "Powerful Natures of Love" and "End of the Road". Keep up the good work!

      5 out of 5 stars Love Loud.......2000-10-21

I feel lucky when I get to hear a combination of talent, musicianship, and artistic passion like I have heard on the album Love Loud, and that is why I gave it five stars. As far as the subjective aspect of whether the music has a significant positive impact on the listener, I can only say yes it has for me. Since I do not typically choose to listen or not listen to songs based on the degree to which they do or do not conform to a certain style, or sound like some other artist(s), I do not feel I have anything useful to say in that regard about this album.
