3 out of 5 stars Not good........2007-03-04

The swear words aren't the bad part. Its the music and especially the vocals. Blink 182 was a new punk band though. They just had no experience. Well, look at 'em now! Awesome! Why did they have to break up? I reccommend any Green Day, Weezer, BoDeans, and any other blink except maybe ":cheshire cat" and "Flyswatter"

2 out of 5 stars Their early stuff. Not that good........2006-12-29

Blink 182 is by all means a great band, but their early work such as Buddha, isn't that great. It seems more like random themed songs without any passion than the hard rocking tunes they have made in albums like Enema of the State.

4 out of 5 stars awesome.......2006-12-18

Before I get into the review, I've got something to say. To the second guy below me: This was made before cheshire cat and after flyswatter. Flyswatter and Buddha are two completely different things. Flyswatter had 8 songs, and was recorded on a tape deck. Then there were other demos and promos made between the two that not too many people can explain.

Now, to the review:

Is it the sex pistols? no. ramones? no. dead kennedys? no. But is it punk: Yes. Ever heard of the descendents? They rocked, and were possibly one of the most influential punk bands ever. If I had to compare this album to someone, it would be the descendents. While this album may, at some points, seem to venture into pop-punk, it's some of the best pop-punk yet.

Sure, the recording quality sucks, but that just adds to the awesome feel of this album. The band occassionaly messes up vocally and instrumentally, which makes the album feel very natural. Plus, blink had their own identity at this point, so they weren't exactly like every punk band out there. The songs move along at an awesome pace, with very little space between each track.

However, the album could have been a bit more agressive. It seemed like their singing was kinda held back at some points. Some songs could've gone faster, too. But, all in all, it's a good punk album.

    Album Description

Remastered in late 2004, this is Four Hundred Years' sophomore release. In comparison to their first release, Suture, Transmit Failure leaps forward musically, featuring a more produced and enhanced sound courtesy of producer J. Robbins. Bolstered by the rhythm sectionÌs taut dynamics, Four Hundred Years delivers their fiercely political invective in sputtered fits and starts.

The quartet ferociously slashes through their charged rants, railing on social injustice and class inequality. Ragged, sharp vocals tear passionately into their political topics, while the guitars, bass, and drums roil in the background, providing the brawny heft that supports this band so well. A breakthrough album for the band, Transmit Failure provides listeners with a prime example of socially conscious hardcore that doesnÌt fail to deliver on the technical side of the bargain.

Transmit Failure was recorded at Inner Ear by J. Robbins in April 1998. The 2004 remastered version features slightly different artwork, as well as video footage of one of their live sets.

4 out of 5 stars Taking Emo Places.......2005-04-15

This album was representative of the shift in DC "emo" music from the more raucus punk/hardcore-influenced style of Rites of Spring, early Fugazi, early 400 Years even, to a style that was more dynamic, with softer and melodic parts to offset the noisier, screamier parts. Certainly this album rocks hard, but there are parts with piano and soft, almost whispered, singing. All in all, thoroughly enjoyable.

        Product Description

Estrella was Lycias last proper studio album (Empty Space was unfinished and Tripping Back Into The Broken Days was recorded and mixed as an Estraya release). The songs on Estrella were originally written in 1996 & fleshed out over a fifty show tour. Eight years later, Mike VanPortfleet has revisited the songs to remaster them using the engineering skills hes improved over this time as well as the improvements of technology to make a definitive version of the release uncompromised by the hands of others. The artwork has been restored to the original version, unaltered from the artistic vision meant to match the music. The goal of Estrella was to mix the lush orchestral sound VanPortfleet had developed over the previous eight years that had culminated in Cold with the more up-tempo rhythmic style of Wake & the unreleased Byzantine era. Estrella also marks Tara VanFlowers move to primary vocalist & lyricist, enlarging the bands ethereal fan base. Estrella became an instant hit within the darkwave genre, but now is the time to realize its a classic that transcends genre barriers. 1. Clouds In The Southern Sky 2. El Diablo 3. Tainted 4. 3 out of 5 stars Improved Remastered Version.......2006-12-19

"Imaginary Friends" (June 9, 2004) is the remastered re-release of the second CD from A.C.T which was originally released in March of 2001. A.C.T is a Swedish progressive metal band. This particular release is the Avalon release which was the Japanese release of their second CD. This CD has 15 tracks, including six regular works, and then a longer work titled "Relationships" which includes the next eight tracks, which also have the hidden track "Catherine". Lastly, the bonus track is "Mouse in a Maze", their interpretation of the song by Saga, and which is a significant improvement over "New Age Polka" (which appeared on the Avalon release). The CD also has a CD-ROM feature called "The Making of Imaginary Friends"

As with their first album, this one is musically strong and it is the vocals that are the weakest part. The album opens with several strong numbers, including "Take It Easy", "Hippest Flop", "A Supposed Tour", "Biggest Mistake", and the title track "Imaginary Friends". However the longer piece, "Relationships" (The Long One), is significantly weaker than the opening numbers of the album. Even with Tomas Erlandsson's wonderful hidden track "Catherine" (his swan song to the group), I have to rate this album as slightly lower in quality than their first album.

The band includes Jerry Sahlin (synthesizers, vocals, backing vocals, Vocoder, synthetic drums on "Mr. Unfaithful"), Ola Andersson (electric and acoustic guitars, backing vocals), Peter Asp (bass, percussion, backing Vocals), Herman Saming (lead vocals, backing vocals, silent trumpet), and Tomas Erlandsson (drums, percussion, backing vocals, lead vocals and keyboards on "Catherine"). Their co-stars for this album are "The Acting Orchestra", which includes Anna Blomkvist (violin 1), Karolina Sjöholm (violin 2), Diana Crawford (viola), and Lisa Fagius (cello). They also have Pelle Saether who provides some vocals on "Imaginary Friends" and backing vocals on "Biggest Mistake".
