5 out of 5 stars EX BEATLES with a heart and mind of his own.......2007-05-13

One of the most romantic and playable record I've ever listened to: I had already the 33round in vynil and I wanted to have also the more durable CD.

5 out of 5 stars One of his George's best!.......2007-03-09

I bought this album originally when first released, but sadly lost it along the way. Thankfully I recalled it when replacing my ageing collection of records. This is probably the best album George did after All this must pass. He had some teriffic help in making it, Geoff Lynne, Ringo, Elton and Eric Clapton. It was made around the time of the Travelling Wilburys ablbums, which are equally as good as this one, but sadly only available from Russia?
The tracks are very catchy, with I've got my mind set on you, being bar far the best. You can sense that the musicians playing on these numbers are masters of there craft and are truly enjoying making great music.

5 out of 5 stars Harrison's 2nd Most Important Album.......2007-01-29

Review of George Harrison's Cloud Nine

by Mel C. Thompson.

Typically Harrison's albums have maybe one hit, or even no hits, then maybe one or two good songs, and then a lot of pretty iffy material.

Of course All Things Must Pass was an exception. It was, by far, the best post-Beatles album produced by any of the Beatles, and remains, by the way, the best selling of all the post-Beatle albums.

Cloud Nine was, however, a total breakout album for a few reasons. Firstly, the album had one smash hit, Got My Mind Set On You. This hit had such staying power and came so late in Harrison's career that it got Harrison a huge non-Beatles audience, so much so that I met young kids at the time who did not know or believe Harrison had been in the Beatles and simply liked him as a solo artist. That kind of comeback is a very rare achievement for any artist.

But also, the album has two minor hits, The Devil's Radio, and also, the best song on the album, When We Was Fab, a song that not only pokes some lighthearted and serious fun at Harrison's Beatle years, but has a tremendous musical style parody of their psychedelic era, calling to mind arrangements similar to I Am The Walrus and Strawberry Fields. It takes several listenings to really get what a masterpiece that song is.

The Devil's Radio is great because it has a profound spiritual message without leaning in the specific doctrinal tenants of Harrison's Hinduism. I say this with mixed feelings, since I am a Buddhist-Hindu and really enjoy a lot of his very doctrinal and propagandistic works. (True critics need to be human enough to "fall for things," even if they can be poked fun at artistically. In Harrison's case, his religion was a two-edged sword, it provided the inspiration and insight that made him a major and unique influence in the Anglo pop scene, but it also sometimes made him a bit sloppy and complacent.

Cloud specifically said in one interview that he did not want Cloud Nine to be dominated by spirituality, and he succeeded by having the album uplifted by his religion without it being heavy handed. (All that being said, I still like the heavy-handed stuff sometimes too.) The point is, in terms of the worldwide audience, Cloud Nine was perfect for absolutely mass consumption and platinum proportions while still retaining the great philosophical insights Harrison always benefitted from.

It also helps that he had the greatest backup band of all time. While George Harrison sang, played guitar and produced, he had Geoff Lynne coproduce and sing and play instruments, (he was the former create front-man for the Electric Light Orchestra who themselves had a massive career). Furthermore, on drums was his co-Beatle Ringo Starr. And if that weren't enough, Eric Clapton was the lead guitarist and Elton John was the Pianist (with regular contributions by Eighties Mega-Star, now often forgotten, Gary Wright). Given that backup band, it's hard to imagine how the album could go wrong.

Cloud Nine was a masterwork of marketing timing, producing, arranging, personnel management, spirituality and good old quality pop-rock. In some sense, given that Harrison had become a pretty successful film producer by then, in his own right, Cloud Nine probably represents the real Zenith of the solo career of Harrison, because, although All Things Must Pass will always remain the truly immortal work of Harrison's, it was still very much done in the supernova halo of the Beatles. Cloud Nine had proved with time and distance Harrison was a viable artist, and probably, the most important solo artist to come from the Beatles.

For a time it seemed that McCartney would have been by far the most important of the post-Beatles, however he fell far out of critical favor, and his solo work remains very dated and his following rather faded. Harrison fans hang on with a fervor that McCartney could not match. True, Double Fantasy represented a similar victory to Cloud Nine for John Lennon, a true breakout. And while Imagine remains Lennon's Immortal work, it too was also produced in the halo of the Beatles' recent breakup. Lennon's assassination may have prevented him from becoming the preeminent post-Beatle, since he said at the time of making Double Fantasy, that he felt like he'd just begun again and that "nothing's even been done yet."

An excellent piece of work....heads above his contemporaries....except for the "Traveling Willburys"

5 out of 5 stars LIKE AN OPULESCENT MOON ALL ALONE IN THE SKY OF A FOREIGN LAND. . ........2006-12-02

HARRISON WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE BEATTLE. UNLIKE HIS PRIMA DONNA BANDMATES, GEORGE WAS THE QUIET MUSICAL BACKBONE. HIS SOLO WORK IS SUPERB. THE TUNES THAT HE PENNED FOR THE BEATTLES WERE ALWAYS MY FAVORITES.

THIS ALBUM IS PERFECT. MY CHOICE TRACKS HERE ARE:

"SOME PLACE ELSE" WITH IT'S CIRCULAR GUITAR WORK AND GUTTING LYRICS, IT IS ENCHANTING BEYOND. . .

"BREATH AWAY FROM HEAVEN" THE ASIAN INFLUNENCE IS SO ACCURATE, YOU CAN LITERALLY SMELL THE OPIUM DENS. THE LYRICS, YET AGAIN, ARE ACE. ("LIKE AN OPULESCENT MOON ALL ALONE IN THE SKY OF A FOREIGN LAND" LYRICS DON'T GET MUCH BETTER.)

MY ONLY ISSUE WITH THIS ALBUM IS ITS COVER. YUCK. HE LOOKS LIKE ON OF THE GIBB BROS. GROSS.

I AM GLAD TO SEE THE TITLE TRACK FROM HIS WORK ON THE FILM, SHANGHAI SURPRISE. WHATEVER ONE THINKS ABOUT THE ILL-FATED FILM (WHICH HAPPENS TO BE A GUILTY PLEASURE FOR ME), THE MUSIC IS FIRST RATE AND TRULY ENCOMPASSES A GEOGRAPHICAL SOUNDSCAPE.

GEORGE HARRISON WAS AN UNDERRATED MUSICAL GENIUS. BUY THIS REMASTER. YOU WILL BE HUMMING ALONG FOR YEARS. A WORTHY BUY.

4 out of 5 stars A heady soul-psych-funk gumbo!.......2007-07-27

Released in 1969, Cloud Nine was intended to update the Temptations' sound, augmenting their smooth soul harmonies with elements of funk, rock, and even psychedelia. This new direction incorporated effects-heavy guitars, pounding rhythms, rawer vocals, and gritty, socially concious lyrics. However, in order not to alienate the Tempts' original fans (okay, I'm not actually sure that that's the reason), only the first half of the album features this sound. Side two features the group's standard brand of harmony-heavy soul. The result is a very good record, with several fantastic moments.

As you can probably imagine, the first side gets most of the attention. It consists of only three tracks: The title track is a tight, funky groover with a surging bassline and soaked in wah-wah guitars. The group's vocals rough and authoritative, a far cry from the sugary crooning that marked their previous singles. Next up is an innovative take on the classic "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" which strips the song down to nothing but churning rhythms and forceful vocals. Finally, there's the epic "Runaway Child, Running Wild." Probably the best song on the album, this is a tight, heavy slab of deep, throbbing funk. The music is a dense and apocalyptic web of snakey fuzz guitars, stomping rhythms, and cruel vocals. The result is a taut, harrowing masterpiece.

Side two isn't discussed as often, and for good reason- it isn't nearly as good as the first half. The songs are standard-issue harmonized soul. They're not bad by any means- and in the case of "I Gotta Find A Way" and "Hey Girl," they're actually quite good- but the songs are pretty generic and unexciting when compared to Temptations classics such as "My Girl" and "Get Ready," or to the music on the first half of this album.

So, pick this up for the fantastic first half, and the decent second half. And as always, enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars "The beginning of the Temptations and Norman Whitfield's psychedelic stage".......2007-02-03

In Febuary of 1969 the Temptations released Cloud Nine and many people thought what happened to the old Tempts. Well after seeing Sly Stone & the Family Stone having so much success Norman Whitfield in his third album at the helm of the producers chair fo the Tempts decided it was time for change. The first half on the original vinyl version consist of only 3 song which basically carries the whole album. The title track is one of the funkiest songs ever laid to wax with it's wah-wah guitars and the Tempts voices flowing through the sons, but the best song here is the 9 plus minute version of "Runaway Child Running Wild". The song will by far blow you away with new lead singer Dennis Edwards dynamic vocal performance. The rythm arrangement of this song is brilliant and Funk Brothers really get down and dirty on this one. Definitely the funkiest song of the 60's. Side two on the original vinyl is back to business as usual with the Tempts apparently not ready to completly give total control to Whitfields newly refined production style. Overall great album for the first 3 songs on the album which also consist of putting a different twist on a cover version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" which was also done by Gladys Knight & the Pips and Marvin Gaye respectively. Although the second side is mostly ballads there's still stong vocal performances by Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams, with most of the leads going to Dennis. A must have for soul music lovers and Temptations fans alike.

4 out of 5 stars Cloud Nine.......2006-08-10

Whether or not you are a Temptations fan, you will definitely enjoy this album. Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks are exceptional. Listening to "I Need Your Loving" will make you remember why you began a relationship with that special someone. I thought the Temps would be a lesser group without David Ruffin, but this album/CD proved me wrong. You will thoroughly enjoy it!

5 out of 5 stars "Temptations Standing on the Top of Cloud Nine!!".......2001-08-10

I am definitely a Temptations fan and this CD is truly awesome. Eddie Kendricks with the sweetness of that beautiful voice singing, "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" was totally awesome. Paul Williams singing on lead with that sexy baritone voice of his was just scrumptious. An extended version of "Runaway Child, Running Wild" was truly captivating. A music CD that I'd certainly recommend to anyone, Temptations fan or not (but I hope that you are). Cloud Nine, Temptations standing on the top singing it the way they do best.

5 out of 5 stars A great experiment that paid off.......2000-10-01

When this album was originally released in early '69, it was a gamble. Could the Temptations, known as smooth melodic crooners of love songs, successfully reinvent themselves as contemporaries of Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic, and the Chambers Brothers, with their psychedelic rock and soul sounds? The answer was YES. CLOUD NINE, this masterpiece by produced by Norman Whitfield, the most soulful producer to ever come out of Motown, is one of my favorite CDs by the Temptations. The grittiness of "Cloud Nine", the title song and the album opener (and the first single from the album, released in late 1968) demands that you pay attention to what the Tempts are saying. Songwriter Barrett Strong's words come to life as newest Temptation Dennis Edwards tells the story of growing up poor in the inner city...and the debate about this song continues to this day. Was the song about getting high, or just changing your way of thinking? A funky rendition of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" takes Gladys Knight and the Pips' version, strips it down to the rhythm track, and emphasizes the Tempts' harmonies above everything else. I LOVE the scatting on this track!! The nine minute and thirty-eight second version of "Runaway Child, Running Wild" is worth the price of the CD alone. Simply relentless, with the sound of a child crying for his mother. What was really great about this CD was the use of multiple vocalists singing different parts at the same time on each song. Prior to this CD, you'd basically have David Ruffin, or sometimes Eddie Kendricks singing the lead and the rest of the guys singing "Oooh, waaa" or "Oh baby" in the background. However on these three cuts on CLOUD NINE you might hear Dennis, then Eddie, then Paul, the Melvin, then Otis...all on the same song! I just love it.

The second part of the CD, to me, seemed to let Temptations' fans know that they could still sing the love ballads in the way that made them famous, even though David Ruffin was no longer in the group by then. There are some very nice remakes on it ("Love Is A Hurtin' Thing", "Hey Girl") plus some beautiful original tunes ("I Need Your Lovin'" with Eddie Kendricks on lead vocals, "Don't Let Him Take Your Love From Me", a Paul Williams standout lead, "Why Did She Have To Leave Me" and others). A daring bit of work that forever changed Motown, and a definite part of their history, since "Cloud Nine" was the very first Motown tune ever to win a Grammy. Get it, and you too will be on CLOUD NINE!

3 out of 5 stars Buyer beware.......2006-06-24

One should be aware that this disc does not contain the original album (Cloud Nine). Runaway Child here is the radio edit, the four minute version as opposed to the nine minute version that appeared on the original album. The editing of songs seems to be a common practice in these Temptation two-fer's. So if you want the entire album as originally issued they should be shyed away from.

4 out of 5 stars Norman Whitfield masterclass.......2005-03-28

In their lengthy and varied career the Temptations had many lead vocalists and many producers but perhaps found their own individual niche most successfully with the producer Norman Whitfield. They had worked with him as early as 1964 as the co-writer of Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue) and then on some of their other hit singles, and he logically became their sole producer from mid-1967 (although he continued to produce for other Motown acts).

However, it was through his work with the Temptations that he pioneered the concept of psychedelic soul, taking his lead from the rock fraternity's musical experimentations following in the wake of the Summer Of Love; from student campuses and parks where black and white students were developing a new revolutionary culture; and from peers like Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone. In the process he became the most audacious auteur producer since Phil Spector, as he concocted ever more complex and ambitious sounds and mould-breaking arrangements. Coupled with Barrett Strong's socially aware lyrics and the Temptations harmonies, featuring new recruit Dennis Edwards' distinctive lead vocals, a new blueprint was forged for soul throughout the 1970s, beginning in 1969 with the single Cloud Nine, targeting the subject of drug abuse, and possibly the first Motown record with a wah-wah guitar.

It was also the first track on the LP Cloud Nine, although the centrepiece was a nine-and-a-half minute acid-drenched epic, Run Away Child, Running Wild (also a single in a severely edited form).

Norman Whitfield was on a huge roll and Puzzle People followed just five months later, in February 1970, leading with I Can't Get Next To You, on which each of the group take turns to sing lead, and tackling consumer values (Don't Let The Joneses Get You Down) and black issues among its themes. Side one ended with Message From A Black Man, and side two with Slave, sending out clear signals of black consciousness, though the album also contains covers of Hey Jude and, curiously, Little Green Apples (a live album recorded at the Talk Of The Town came out shortly afterwards and was full of standards like The Impossible Dream and Love Theme From Romeo and Juliet, so the Temptations were straddling a very strange fence).

All though one could argue with the logic behind some of the album couplings in this series, and wish for more extensive notes, these are good value for money re-issues presented in well mastered stereo

3 out of 5 stars I'm doing fine.......2004-02-09

This CD features two Temptations albums from the late '60s. They are typical of Motown albums from the '60s, which usually featured one or two hits, and a lot of filler. In the case of Cloud Nine, the hits are "Cloud Nine" and "Runaway Child, Running Wild". The hits from Puzzle People are "I Can't Get Next To You" and "Don't Let the Jones Get You Down". These are great songs, but most of the rest of the songs aren't that interesting (although the cover version of "Hey Jude" has it's moments). This CD is for hardcore Motown fans only.

5 out of 5 stars As soloists, Paul was more successful, but George made the best albums.......2007-01-18

17 years after the dissolution of The Beatles, George Harrison made this album, which is still probably the best thing any former Beatle has ever made. From the smash hit "Got My Mind Set On You" to the gorgeous guitar pop of "Fish On The Sand", George Harrison turns out an album that sounds as at home in the 80s as the Beatles did in the 60s.

5 out of 5 stars His best work since All Things Must Pass.......2004-06-03

Cloud Nine (1987.) George Harrison's ninth solo album.

Following the release of his 1982 album, Gone Troppo, George Harrison took an extended vacation from recording albums for a while. During his leave of absence, he recorded a track for the Porky's Revenge soundtrack, which was nothing short of excellent - and a premonition of what was to come. In 1987, Harrison teamed up with Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) frontman Jeff Lynne, for some help with his upcoming ninth studio album. And in 1987, Cloud Nine was released. This was Harrison's most popular release in nearly fifteen years! Does it live up to the hype, or is it just an overrated and subpar effort? Read on for my review.

Is this album overrated? Yes it is. Does it deserve to be overrated? Yes it does. This is George Harrison's first true five-star album since 1970's All Things Must Pass. No, this album doesn't quite top that one, but it's a very close second best. On this album, Harrison serves up masterpiece after masterpiece. The big hits to be found on this album are Got My Mind Set On You and When We Was Fab. Got My Mind Set On You is a cover of a song written by Rudy Clark. Harrison's take on the song hit number one on the pop charts. The other fairly popular track featured on this album is When We Was Fab, Harrison's ode to his Beatle days. Because of Jeff Lynne's assistance on this album, many tracks on the album greatly resemble Electric Light Orchestra - and this is the closest thing on the album to one of their songs. But, the big hits aren't the only good songs on this album! In addition to Jeff Lynne, Harrison recruited an assortment of all-star musicians for these sessions. The album's title track even featured Eric Clapton on guitars! While My Guitar Gently Weeps from the classic Beatles self-titled "White" album demonstrated beautifully that the two could function well as a unit, and this track helps to further establish that claim. Even seventies pop star Gary Wright appears on a few tracks (Wright was best known for his seventies hits, Dream Weaver and Love Is Alive.) Wright has appeared on a number of Harrison's solo recordings, and why not? He does an excellent job contributing to Harrison's work. There are a number of masterpieces to be found on this album, and it really must be heard to be appreciated. The album has often been called the most "Beatles-sounding" of the former Beatle solo recordings, and that's a good thing.

Recently, all of the George Harrison studio albums and the live album from the Dark Horse years have been remastered and rereleased, and in some cases even gotten bonus tracks. On Cloud Nine, as far as bonus tracks go, you get the underrated tunes Shanghai Surprise and Zig Zag. Unfortunately though, the record company wasted a huge opportunity here. There were a ton more songs that should have been bonus tracks on here, but weren't included. Among these are Handle With Care, a big hit from Harrison's Traveling Wilburys days, I Won't Back Down, a Tom Petty song that George helped out with, Cheer Down, the song that Harrison recorded for the Lethal Weapon 2 soundtrack, and the infamous studio rarities, Poor Little Girl and Cockamamie Business. The latter three songs are available on Best Of Dark Horse, but the record company DID NOT reissue that compilation! Putting those songs on the rereleased Cloud Nine would have been extremely smart, but no. Now fans are going to have to hunt down an out of print compilation, just for the sake of three songs.

Cloud Nine is George Harrison's finest work in a very long time. All of his solo albums are excellent, but this one, along with All Things Must Pass, are in a league all their own. No fan of George Harrison, casual or die-hard, should be without Cloud Nine. This is a masterpiece just waiting to be added to your collection.

5 out of 5 stars CLOUD NINE.......2004-01-02

CLOUD NINE IS GEORGE HARRISON'S BEST ALBUM IN MY APIGON I THINK IT'S BETTER THEN ALL THIGS MUST PASS I LIKE THE SON WHEN WE WAS FAB THIS IS A GOOD ALBUM TO GET ERIC CLAPTON AND RINGO SARR AND JEFF LYNE WERE GOOD ON THE ALBUM TO THANK YOU GEOGE FOR THIS GREAT ALBUM

4 out of 5 stars Cloud Nine is Harrison's Number One!.......2003-11-27

CLOUD NINE was released in 1987,six years after SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND. In '87 many "oldies" were being covered and on this album ex-Beatle George Harrison covered the 1961 Rudy Clark hit GOT MY MIND SET ON YOU. Later the music of the song would be recycled by "Weird Al" Yankovic for THIS SONG'S JUST(SIX WORDS LONG). The lyrics to the latter song were written by Yankovic. This album was produced by Harrison and his longtime friend Jeff Lynne of the Electric Light Orchestra. This album also is the intitial project for the pair. In addition to Lynne, guest artists include Elton John,Harrison's fellow ex-Beatle Ringo Starr and Gary Wright who wrote and recorded the hit song DREAM WEAVER in the seventies. WHEN WE WAS FAB was another hit from this album. I suppose it tells about Harrison's(and Starr's) Beatles era. It's just like ALL THOSE YEARS AGO from SOMEWHERE IN ENGLAND which was a tribute to fellow ex-Beatle John Lennon who was fatally shot in December 1980. All the other songs are cool. THIS IS LOVE was another hit from the album. After this album,Harrison and Lynne would team up with Bob Dylan,Tom Petty and Roy Orbison to form the Traveling Wilburys with their own aliases.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent George Harrison.......2003-10-05

On his 1987 release "Cloud Nine", often considered a comeback album for the ex-Beatle, George Harrison again thrust himself into the collective musical consciousness with a set of 11 well-crafted and slickly produced (thanks to fellow ex-Wilbury Jeff Lynne) songs. Often compared to "All Things Must Pass" in terms of quality, it lacks ATMP's sheer scope and vision, but is overall probably an easier recording to listen to and enjoy.

Most people recall the radio hit "Got My Mind Set On You", but the album has so much more to offer. From the introductory guitar riffs of the title track to the music's finale, George's wit and humor permeate the album. Other standout tracks would have to include "Fish on the Sand", "Devil's Radio", "When We Was Fab", "That's What it Takes", and "Just For Today".

"Cloud Nine" showed George in the studio making great music and having a blast doing it. It's hard to believe that this was the last studio album he actually released during his lifetime. (his final recording "Brainwashed", released about fifteen years later, was only made available posthumously). It's also a shame that this disc is out of print, as mourning Harrison fans should be able to own this wonderful piece of music. We can only hope that Dhani completes the remastering of his father's work and makes this available to his father's fans.

5 out of 5 stars Old Skool.......2006-05-13

For anyone who likes old skool Jungle/hardcore, this CD is for you. There are piano tunes, and complicated Jungle beats which was the sound in the early 90s. Do not bash it because it is not what you expected listening to the Happy2Bhardcore series. At one time this was considered hardcore. This is the sound that eventually split and became Jungle and Four Beat (aka HappyCore). I have some of these tracks on vinyl and they are deathly hard to mix, but sound so great. Get this CD if you like the Jungle/Hardcore movement of 1989-1995.

3 out of 5 stars Marketed poorly.......2006-03-07

I too saw this advertised in the Happy 2B Hardcore pamphlets and expected a hardcore beat. Sadly it is quite old school, mid 90s. My expectations ruined what could have been a good CD, but don't purchase this expecting super heavy bass or anything close to hardcore. That said, I still mildly enjoy it.

3 out of 5 stars this cd is crap.......2002-02-26

ok, for all you happy hardcore fans out there, DONT GET THIS CD!!!! you may notice in Anabolic Frolic's cds, you may notice it says " if you lke this, then try these" DONT GET ANY OF THESE 140 BPM+ CDS. none of these songs ever get up to the 140 bpm limit. but if you like jungle/london oldskool then check it out, but happy hardcore lovers, STAY AWAY

5 out of 5 stars one of the best jungle cds ever made.......2000-03-06

check it out, all the oldskool london hardcore classics. bringing you back to the oldskool rave scene, forget the techstep, we want to bring you back to 93. this is the true jungle

3 out of 5 stars From Darkcore to Jungle.......1999-02-04

This CD contains techno-reaggae w/ voodoo tones, and former jungle experiments of 1993. But it doesn't sound 140 bpm at all! Marking the end of an anxious low moment of the rave scene in UK, this CD also reveals emerging jungle, gabba, and rythm-and-bass that would soon come to redeem darkcore. Heavy sound, it's ok, but not very self-smashing... Desole' :-(

4 out of 5 stars Nine - Cloud 9.......2006-07-03

It has been almost ten year's since Nine released his second and final album "Cloud 9" (1996) a short twelve-track release that followed his debut album "Nine Livez" (1995). Repping the Bronx, Nine has a distinct raspy sounding voice. After the "Know Introduction", Nine gets things going with a rugged standout "Every Man 4 Himself", dropping raw rhyme after rhyme like -my mentality is somewhere between Armageddon and Apocalypse. "We Play 4 Keeps" is a thugged out cut dedicated to the trife life Nine knew all to well - making money by any means. "Tha Product" has Nine rhyming back and forth with female MC U-Neek. Nine rhymes about his pain and struggles over a classical instrumental on "Uncivilized". Nine advises people not to mess with him on "No Part A Me". Nine talks about the difference between living the rhymes and fronting on "Lyin King" a track directed at a Rap game full of fakes. Nine and 3rd Eye rhyme about being down and out and getting the loot on "Richman Poorman" (Act One). "John Doe" is another grimy cut about doing whatever it takes to pay the bills. This album's best track and one of my all time Nine favorites is the outstanding "Make Or Take" which has Nine teaming up with another slept on MC Smoothe Da Hustler for a classic collaboration, both MC's shine delivering on point lyrics backed by some exceptional production. Bounty Killer drops in for "Warriors" which is followed up by the album's closer "4 Chicken Wings and Rice" a cut where Nine recalls days past of starving and trying to make it. Aside from a few guest appearances Nine virtually disappeared after the release of "Cloud 9", finding information on him online is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. I recommend checking out both of Nine's albums - quality music from a slept on MC.

5 out of 5 stars great album!.......2006-04-30

his voice would have sounded incredibly wack if he wasn't such an amazing rapper, especially the songs the product and lyin' king stick out, but the entire album is just brilliant.
props to rob lewis for the beats

5 out of 5 stars Nine - Cloud 9.......2006-01-09

This Cat sounds just like Xzibit would if he had a real bad cold, But it works for Him. His lyrics hit hard, with meaning, and the beats are very good. His flows are always right on beat. The most amazing thing about this album is the fact that it came out almost 10 years ago, and it hasnt aged at all. It is still one of the best albums i own, and thats saying alot because I am a huge collector of rap albums. I still listen to this album, it would be pointless to name the top tracks because ever song is good and has something to offer. I Highly reccomend It.

What can I say!!! I'm a die-hard fan of Claudia Brucken. The Single is great could have added more remixes or songs!!! Love Cloud 9, however, I wore the song out a long time ago. The Blank and Jones remix of this song is not really that different then the original version, still a great song. The remixes to Kein Anschluss and Home (Tonight) ROCK!!! The single is worth buying just for these 2 songs.
