About the Artist
A studio singer, he is not. A producer driven artist, he is not. A star, he is. L. Young's style is the equivalent of what music used to be, ORIGINAL. With the recent flourish of such talented artists as the Nappy Roots, Black Coffey, Playa, and 7 of Murder, Inc., it was only inevitable that the Kentucky-bred singing sensation would soon take the music industry by storm. Taking a chaotic blend of Kentucky bluegrass music; country, gospel and hip-hop/R&B, L. Young has transformed it into a sound so smooth it could pour from a bottle of Southern Comfort!

Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, L. Young grew up singing and laying the drums for the youth choir in church. While at the Louisville Youth Performing Arts High School, he formed an acapella Gospel/Jazz/R&B quartet, WALC, which won the Grand Prize at the Youth Talent International competition, competing against over 1,400 acts from the U.S.and Canada. As a member of Louisville's Next Generation,musical review, L. toured the U.S. as well as throughout Europe, Hawaii and the Bahamas, while starring in such musicals and plays. After graduating from the Louisville Performing Arts High School, he attended Wright State University, where he majored in Acting.

In his music career, L. Young has graced the stage with such artists as Patti LaBelle, Sisqo, Toni Braxton, Busta Rhymes and Tyrese, just to name a few. Some of his other credits include, production of Babygirl (Terry's Theme) for B2K on the 2002 Barbershop Soundtrack, writing and production of "Without You" on the soon to be released second album from KeKe Wyatt and writing and production on several up and coming projects such as Envyi,A new and Na'shay. In addition, he co-wrote and co-produced the single "Like a Playa" that debuted on the Billboard Top 100 charts and was Radio & Retail Magazine's top #3 most added record in the country in its first three weeks on radio. L. later went on to have songs on the platinum selling Booty Call soundtrack, Dangerous Grounds, The Long Kiss Goodnight and Phat Beach soundtracks.

With soothing vocal, creative writing, production and arranging skills, arguably on a level above his peers, L. Young is the cornerstone that personifies talent. With dynamic and seemingly flawless live performances, these exceptional talents have earned him a reputation as a true "Artist".

In a business where electronic enhancements essentially create an artist, L. Young has proven his staying power by remaining marketable, yet loyal to his music. " I pray that somewhere in my music someone finds hope, or some kind of inspiration. I ain't gots to #1 or gleamed out, I just want my music to affect some kind of change…the kind of change that took place in me the first time I sat on my grandma's porch and truly listened to a song…the first time my heart wept."

A pop surprise!.......2003-08-14

This sublime record of seemingly harmless songs has a way of creeping in and making a home in your brain. You will find yourself singing these pleasant little melodies in your head as you're going about your day. Then you may ask yourself...what is this melody I'm singing in my head?...is it a Beatles tune?...A Bowie riff?...No! It's this blasted P4R band! Then you must listen to this record again, and really listen this time. This stuff is cool, and not as simple as you may have thought. It seems they deliberately messed with song structure, perhaps in an attempt to make it less accessible?? But NO! The infectious pop-ness of these Pistol for Ringo songs can not be obscured! This is indeed a pop surprise, and a rare and great unknown find. And that's the truth.

I was totally blown away with this album. This music will take you to a comfort level that you have never been before. After listening to this album you will put it on repeat and listen to it over and over again.

WOW!.......2003-12-09

I am so impressed with this album. Someone bought it as a gift for me because they know how much I love new music. I in turn have bought this album for several people on my X-MAS list. I had a little trouble finding it because of the quality I assumed it had to be on one of those BIG labels and available in any music store (which it should be), but it wasn't. Their lost! This Cd and Artist are two diamonds in the rough. I'm in Love with every song on here and L, too. He is gorgeous! You have one more fan to add to your list!

Petey Weetstraw, R&B's son -in- law!.......2003-12-09

This album is the bomb! I've been a fan of L. Young aka Petey Weetstraw ever since I caught him at an L.A. club doing an open mic night that soon turned into his concert because no one wanted him to leave the stage. There is a song for every one on this CD. It is truly some of the best writng and production I've heard in R&B for years. My personal favorite is Come N Get It this week, but every song on this album is so infectious that it'll change next week. No, I'm not L's publicist or personal friend...just a geeky white boy who is a fan of good music. This is a definite stocking stuffer!
