Editorial Reviews
Award-winning childrens entertainer Judy Pancoast is that singular artist who can walk into a room full of children and immediately "connect" with them in an honest way. Kids cant wait to meet her and parents appreciate her sincere approach to bringing happiness to children through music.
Pancoasts vocal style has often been compared to that of the late Karen Carpenter; and it was, in fact, Carpenter whose records Judy listened to the most during her formative years in the 1970s. Having been a solo performing artist and the leader of several popular bands as well as a successful radio announcer for many years, Judy decided to become an elementary school teacher following the birth of her two children. It was then that the natural confluence of her musical ability, her love for children and her sense of humor resulted in KidPop!: original, upbeat and positive recordings and concerts for children in Pancoasts inimitable style.
Since creating KidPop! in 1996, Pancoast has toured across the USA several times and produced four popular collections of her songs. She won the coveted Childrens Music Web "Best Song for Young Children" awards twice in 1999 for her song "Swimming in Jello," and again in 2000 for "The Potty Dance." Her 1998 recording KidPop! Candy won a Parents Choice award and her 2002 CD KidPop! (a compilation of two previously released cassette recordings) has been endorsed by the Coalition for Quality Childrens Media. KidPop! Koo-Koo!will be under consideration for a Grammy Award by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
New Hampshire Commissioner of Education Nicholas Donohue called Pancoast "A state treasure," and the past president of the NH Association for the Education of Young Children said, "Shes brought happiness to more children than anyone else from New Hampshire."
Pancoast lives in New Hampshire with her husband, Philip and daughters Emma (14) and Louisa (9). She is active in supporting many organizations dedicated to helping children, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and the Pediatric Aids Foundation.
"My mission is to let kids be kids," says Pancoast. " When else in our lives can we have such unabashed, crazy spirit? If Im doing my job right, the kids are up and dancing!"
