This sophmore project from Carla Ann Harris is a soul-stirring, redemptive, hallelujah, "feel-good" gospel album which is sure to leave you with the message that "Joy Is Waiting" on the other side of any challenge that you are going through. The CD presents some old time gospel favorites such as "Because He Lives", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Precious Lord" in a fresh new way fusing traditional gospel standards with contemporary rhythms and Broadway stylings. Original recordings of "Standing on Holy Ground", "Midnight Blessings", and "Cast Your Cares" are a special treat. All proceeds from the sale of this CD will go to benefit St. Charles Borromeo School in Harlem, New York and Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Great Gospel!!!!.......2006-03-12

This CD is terrific. What a great blend of gospel and just a touch of jazz on some of the cuts. I particularly like one of the songs Carla Harris wrote herself "Standing on Holy Ground" - especially when you know the story behind the song. She has a beautiful voice and knows how to use it. We are buying 600 to give as a gift to each guest at our upcoming prayer breakfast. We will all be blessed by her wonderful spirit and outstanding vocal talent.

Fresh, Yet In the Tradition.......2005-12-05

With Harris, in her recording "Joy Is Waiting", all I can say is remarkable.

Remarkable is the fresh treatment of the gospel genre, with songwriting that makes new works feel like classics. The arrangements and orchestrations are adventurous yet well-steeped in tradition, the production modern yet astute with the sense of musical roots.

Ms. Harris makes the critical first choice for her project in her association with Ron Melrose, who along with his prodigious touch on piano, organ, synthesizers, contributes inspired efforts as arranger and producer. Drummer Gene Lewin propels the session masterfully. The Broadway Inspirational Voices contribute a texture of an ensemble three times its size.

And Carla is blessed with the sensibility of singing with pure passion, yet at the same time allowing the inherent power of the music to speak. The result is an offering of spiritual repertoire, with a real bow toward Edwin Hawkins and Andrea Crouch, crossing denominations, cultures, and musical genres. This is a most satisfying set.

True To Life!.......2005-05-09

I was lucky enough to hear Carla Harris sing live, at Lincoln Center in New York City, only a few months ago -- fabulous! As it turns out, she sang two songs on this album, and they sound just as great here as from the stage. This CD is uplifting, upbeat and truly enjoyable; well worth the price!

I was told about Ms. Harris' new CD by a friend and bought it out of curiosity, more than any other reason. What a discovery! Her luminous voice takes hold of you and won't let go. Her bold rendition of "Bridge over Troubled Water" and "What A Friend" simply mesmerize and take you to another place. This is THE CD of the summer for anybody who loves good, down-home gospel music.

Imagine, if you will a down day, and you need a pick me up. Put this cd on. I doubt that your spirit will fail to rise upon listening to the first song. No doubt you will be "standing on Holy Ground". Ms. Harris' interpretations of well known songs reflect her her strong belief in God and positive view of life.

These songs will get in your head, and you will be humming them long after the cd is off. They will take to a wonderful place, and leave you there for a good time. As the title says "Joy is Waiting", stop making Joy wait, buy the cd and enjoy.

Why have I not heard this Liza Kawaller before? What a gorgeous singer! Buy this CD, if not to enjoy the guitar and violin stylings of Mark, then to melt at the sounds of Liza's shimmering vocal offerings. Great new find... Broadway, WATCH OUT!

A true genius.......2000-02-03

Mr. Morden isn't only an excellent a teacher but he also has the capacity to create truly great music. I have had the privilege of listening to his early release Wendel Roy Morden and so I wasn't surprised at his music talent. This album is a good way to bring in the holiday season. You're the coolest Mr. M (or should I say Luke!)

Wonderful & Refreshing Holiday Music.......1999-11-22

I was one of the fortunate few to obtain a copy of "Things Worth Waiting For" before it became available online. As a fan of both Christmas music and instrumental music, I found Mr. Morden's holiday offering to be very enjoyable.

He exhibits a broad range of musicality in his piano playing, paying tribute to the composers' original arrangements while tastefully weaving in amazingly melodic improvisations throughout the recording. Morden's original compositions are at once classics -- easily first time listens. I found myself waxing nostalgiac, as several of his original pieces took me back mentally to my childhood memories of Christmas. I have owned "Things Worth Waiting For" for several years now, and every year without exception, my family and I play it many many times as a key ingredient in our holiday experience. It provides perfect background music for holiday parties or even as a soundtrack for your weekend breakfast, complete with a fresh pot of coffee and the Sunday morning paper. If you are a fan of John Tesh Manheim Steamroller or even David Benoit or Dave Gruisen, you will enjoy "Things Worth Waiting For" by Wendel Morden!
