About the Artist
"What's a genre?... I'm pretty sure it has something to do with food"...Steven Ray Miller may not know his genres, but his fans have no trouble at all identifying his unique style and sound. Listeners are discovering the unforgettable lyrics and warm expressive voice of Steven Ray Miller.

Few artists capture the everyday experience quite like this. Finding faith and hope in unlikely places, Miller celebrates the ordinary through extraordinary songs of life. "All of my songs are a reflection of God's love...whether I find them in my backyard or at a donut shop".

His current album was written during time spent away from performing, with the arrival of twin boys, and is dedicated to his new family. He and his band are back, filling college auditoriums and coffehouse seats, and raising the human-spirit wherever they can.

Product Description
Acoustic Contemporary that flies effortlessly over the lines of rock, pop, and alternative. In true Singer/Songwriter form, this album has you eagerly awaiting each and every word. "Just Enough" is an acoustic journey through a world of donut shops, dogs and doodlebugs, and mornings spent with three year olds.

"Just Enough" is further shaped by rich guitars, lush harmonies, soaring violins, soulful percussions, and the miracle of God's love.

5 out of 5 stars The Rave-Ups.......2007-07-26

I only bought this CD for The Rave-Ups Positively Lost Me. Thank you for including this super rare, out of print song!

5 out of 5 stars Images from Heaven makes this a five star.......2007-06-20

The heart felt songs of the 80's are well captured in the Just Can't Get Enough series, they did a very good job of finding some of the more obscure songs of the 80's but unfortunately they spread them out to force you to buy the set. Yet still as far as the collection is concerned this is one of the best because of Peter Godwin's Images of Heaven. Play the song for yourself and you'll see why.

4 out of 5 stars not bad.......2005-03-06

If you grew up in the Eighties most of these songs will be familiar to you. Some of these are quite good ( Only You, Oblivious, Come Back and Stay ) and hold up nicely after repeated listening. Some do not, unfortunately. And for the record, the version of Our Lips Are Sealed here ( by the Fun Boy Three ) is NOT the original, as stated by the reviewer above. It was recorded after the Go-Gos did it ( although the lead singer of FBT - Terry Hall - co-wrote the song with Jane Weidlin of the Go-Go's). Overall, a fun nostalgia trip.

4 out of 5 stars 80's music.......2007-07-16

I grew up in the 70's and 80's. I was nostalgic so I purchased this CD. It's okay.

5 out of 5 stars rare gems.......2007-07-03

This series is incredible! Vol 14 is one of my favorites.

I don't think you'll find Rubber Rodeo's "Anywhere with you" anywhere else - this is an amazing, under-rated song. Two other great rarities are Never Never by the Assembly and Every Word Means No by Let's Active.

Other don't-miss songs are Tenderness, One Night in Bangkok (Chess is touring around in summer 2007 - can you believe it?), Voices Carry, and Can't Get Enough of You Baby.

If you love the 80s & are on a limited budget (I only wish I could have the whole set!), this one and Vol 1 are the ones to get.

3 out of 5 stars Will The Real "One Night In Bangkok "Please Stand Up.......2006-12-23

Finally, one can have the original version of "One Night In Bangkok" on Volume 14 of this series. Murray Head wasn't smart enough to include it on his own greatest hits CD, so it's good that someone got it right. In addition, some other worthy offerings on this CD include "Close (to the edit) by Art Of Noise, Der Komimissar (After The Fire), "Imagination" by Belouis Some, and "Sunglasses At Night" by Corey Heart.

"True Men Don't Kill Coyotes" is an interesting inclusion as we get to hear the Red Hot Chili Peppers in their underground days. This is worth having if you're an 80's fan. Go get yourself a copy.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I thought it would be!.......2006-03-20

5 out of 5 stars Old School Skater.......2005-09-20

Damn, I havent even bought this CD but boy, talk about remeniscing, I think I spelled that right, hmm, I remmeber the skate board days, New Wave girlfreind, man.... great CD, there's nothing like 80's New Wave, or just 80's Rock, the music now? Shoot, its all over produced and bland, I 'd rather listen to daeth metal than the music now, well, I actually do.

3 out of 5 stars Just Can't Get Enough..........2007-02-04

Folks, I only bought this CD for "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life. That's one of my favorite songs from the 80's. The rest of the CD outside of "99 Luft Balloons" by Nena is passable. Five stars for the Group 'Real Life'!! Three stars for the disc overall.

3 out of 5 stars Angel Delivered!.......2006-02-25

I bought this CD because it has the original 1983 version of Real Life's "Send Me An Angel" which I couldn't find anywhere else.

As for the rest of it, this CD is a decent 80's collection. However, I'd suggest starting off any 80's library with the 5 volumes of "Living In Oblivion" and then building up from there.

5 out of 5 stars Worth the money for "Just Got Lucky" and "Emotion".......2003-12-03

Volume 11 of the New Wave Dance Hits series is an excellent collection of great 80's rock mixing some of the biggest new wave hits with other lesser known but still strong tracks. The tracks "99 Luftballons", "True", "Talking In Your Sleep", and "One Thing Leads To Another" were all Top 5 singles in the early 80's. Of these tracks, only "One Thing..." has stood the test of time as it still gets regular airplay on modern rock radio.

As with many of the albums in this series, it's the lesser known tracks that truly stand out. Some of these include the driving "In A Big Country", the moody "Send Me An Angel", the excellent pop of "Black Coffee In Bed", and the hyperactive track "The Fanatic." But the best tracks here, and the reason to pick up this album, are the tracks "Just Got Lucky", quite simply an excellent pop song that should have made JoBoxers huge, and "Emotion", a track by DFX2 which sounds reminiscent of Greg Kihn Band but is more danceable with its killer bass line. Other solid tracks include "Change", "Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime)", and "Shiny Shiny." The rest of the album is pretty decent too. A great compliation. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars VERY Shiny.......2002-09-23

It automatically gets 5 stars just for including Haysi Fantayzee! It never leaves my carousel, except maybe for a trip on the subway in my discman.

4 out of 5 stars Another Cool Collection from Rhino !.......2001-08-23

Another strong collection in Rhino's New Wave Hits series. Great stuff like Jo Boxers' "Just Got Lucky" and the super cool "Fanactic" by Felony. Add some classic cuts from Squeeze, The Fixx and Big Country and it all adds up to a very worthy collection. Overall, great fun stuff from a time when music was catchy, clever and optimistic. If you grew up in the 80's, chances are you'll dig this CD as well as the others in this great series.

5 out of 5 stars WORTH TWICE THE ASKING PRICE.......2000-10-03

Worth twice the asking price just for Nik Kershaw's Wouldn't It Be Good!! Rest of the tracks are "vintage" 80s' also. The whole Just Can't Get Enough series is a must for 80s' music fans. Absolutely no clunkers!!!

3 out of 5 stars Gotta have if you're an 80's fan!.......1999-09-14

Got a good mix of old favorites (Relax, Cruel Summer) and some not-so-easy-to-find gems like Whisper To A Scream. I love this cd!

4 out of 5 stars best singular '80s compilation out there.......1999-09-02

While this compilation manages to have unappealing tracks ("Girls", "Free Nelson Mandela"), there are some really nice songs on here. "Hold Me Now" and "Cruel Summer" are really great songs to commute to, and "The Stand" is a powerful and anthemic delight. "Wouldn't It Be Good" is delectable and "Whisper to a Scream" is a rare gem. This is a must buy for anyone wanting an '80s compilation that doesn't contain the usual hackneyed "hitsapalooza". I even liked "Hero Takes a Fall" and I never knew I could like a Bangles song!

5 out of 5 stars Easily the best!.......1999-07-04

Songs like Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't it Be Good" and The Special AKA's "Nelson Mandela" make this easily the best volume in this 15 volume series. Nik Kershaw fans beware: An edited version of "Wouldn't it Be Good" appears here.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Hands down the series champ.......2004-06-22

With Volume 4 of the Just Can't Get Enough series Rhino really got their act together. Leading off with Devo's greatest non-hit ever "Freedom Of Choice", this disc rarely lets up and only occasionally stumbles. The Boomtown Rats "Up All Night", doomed Phil Seymour's "Precious To Me", and the Translators "Everywhere That I'm Not" all make for legitimate reasons to buy this disc, but the two killers are The Members early MTV staple "Working Girl" and The Monroes "What Do All The People Know". Try finding THOSE somewhere else. One other great song that could have been a huge plus to this collection was The Kings "Switchin' To Glide/This Beat Goes On" but THEY CUT HALF OF IT OFF!!! Whose idea was that? No matter. Search under The Kings on Amazon for the debut album and hear it like it was meant to be heard.
The stumble? The God-awful "Tainted Love" which has been known to cause loose stools in laboratory mice. Avoid at all costs.

5 out of 5 stars Volume Four Makes Case For Best In Series!.......2004-03-13

I'm busy collecting this terrific series by Rhino. Volume Four is the fifth CD in the series I've added to my collection and is so far the best. Everything you associate with the new Wave era of the 1980s is here. Generals and Majors by XTC captures the Cold War doom and gloom of the Reagan years (those years seem rather innocent now). Love and Lonliness by the Motors gives you synth pop at its best. Solid New Wave sound can be found in the Kings Switchin' to Glide and the Undertones It's Going to Happen. I really like Workin Girl by the Members and What Do All the People Know by the Monroes. Also represented are Devo with Freedom of Choice and Soft Cell's Tainted Love (Both of TV commercial fame). The twelve cuts here really show the range of New Wave music. Some of it is lighthearted and meant for fun while others take things quite seriously. I look forward to completing the set, but doubt any of the others will match this one!

4 out of 5 stars New Wave Hits Volume 4.......2000-12-31

This CD is a pretty good compilation of hits from the era of new wave. I must agree with prior reviewers that this does seem to be the only way to get The Monroes "What Do All the People Know". It is a shame that this compilation only includes the second part of The Kings song "Switchin' to Glide", failing to include the first part of this song the "Beat Goes On" is a large disappointment. This oversight is what led me to only rank this CD as four stars. On the positive side, even though most of these songs are available elsewhere, this CD is a quick way to acquire a number of great tunes without doing a long search. Such tunes as "Working Girl", "Tainted Love", and "Generals and Majors" make this CD a must have for the fan of new wave.

3 out of 5 stars Only one reason to buy this--The Monroes!.......2000-07-30

Fairly typical mix of 80's new wave stuff and one-hit wonders, but this album's one saving grace is the inclusion of the lost classic "What Do All The People Know" by the Monroes. This song is one of the all-time greats, even if it is ever so slightly edited here. Another compilation contained the song, but this CD seems to be the only one still available. So snap it up, Monroes fans!

Three albums in, and Stereophonics have written their first truly mature work, Just Enough Education to Perform. While the Welsh trio's first two albums were blighted by the occasional spot of facile pub-rock tub-thumping, which served only to dilute Kelly Jones's emotive laments into ear candy, Just Enough Education to Perform evokes the ragged croak of early Rod Stewart or the world-weary country lament of Neil Young without feeling the need to unnecessarily embellish its content. It's not all good: the album's first single, "Mr. Writer"--a stab at dismissive music journalists--is, ironically, petulant and unwieldy, spoiled by Jones's clunky lyric: "You've just enough, in my own view, education to perform/ I'd like to shoot you all." Far more successful are the simple semi-acoustic readings of "Nice to Be Out", "Step on My Old Size Nines," and "Lying in the Sun," which prove that, stripped down, Jones can match most singer-songwriters of an alt-country persuasion without breaking into a sweat. By this time in their career, Oasis began losing themselves in bland bombast and a fog of hollow guitar solos; to their credit, on Just Enough Education to Perform, Stereophonics do not let fame cloud the clarity of the record's meaning. --Louis Pattison

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars In my own words, fandabuluous........2006-07-25

I know people think this is very mellow, but hey if they set out to make a mellow album then they did a dam good job! As a teen I try to keep up in the music scene with what is hot an what isn't, E.G. "Chili Peppers" good, "Pussycat Dolls" bad. I was worried that it would be a filler album because I had only heard their singles (which I loved to bits) Have a Nice Day, Mr Writer and Handbags and Gladrags. So I was very pleased when I found that there was only 1 song that I didn't like as much (but I didn't even disslike that one, "Everyday I Think of Money")

Vegas Two Times: Fantastic first song, one of the more rock orientated tracks. 8/10
Lying in the Sun: A very chilled track, some interesting lyrics. Perfect summer song. 7/10
Mr Writer: It took me a few listens to get into but could be one of the best songs on the cd. The fact that the song itself is quite different but still manages to impress. For ingenuity, 9/10
Step on My Old Size Nines: Another summery song with cheery lyrics, no glitches here that put me off. 7/10
Have a Nice Day: Brilliant song, one that you want to sing along to. It's more of an up-beat pop song than a summer track but genuine instruments, so no techno sounds (which you probably thought when i mentioned pop). 8/10
Nice To Be Out: Could be a filler but it's not, it only seems that way because it's surrounded by some very impressive tracks. This one is more mellow again, its a shorter track with another summer feel, so it's a good song that you should never tire of. 6.5/10
Handbags and Gladrags: Couled be a the best song on the album, it is a cover but it is very similar to the origional Rod Stuart creation. I love this track to bits because of the fantastic use of the oboe throughout and the brass section toward the end. 10/10
Watch Them Fly Sundays: Another rock orientated track similar to the "vegas" track. The verses are quite mellow but ones you can sing to, then the rock kicks in at the chorus. Enjoyable but you may think i've been here before. Nice track by no means a filler, just not different than what you've heard previously on this album. 6.5/10
Everyday I Think Of Money: The only track I tend to skip (unless i'm in the shower), it's by no means a bad song, it has a catchy beat and very simple lyrics, so it's a marmite song, you like it or you don't. I say i like it, it's just too different to be enjoyable. (my vote) 6/10
Maybe: Quiite a mellow, summer song, one that I found you can't sing along to just because there are a lot of lyrics and it's too much effort. Maybe a filler, but I don't think so. It's just another slice of the cake, it tastes the same but it's still good. :-)(I made that up!. clever me.) 6.5/10
Caravan Holiday: Chill song, singalong song. I like it, it's short and doesn't drag. 7/10
Rooftop: Good track, not at all a filler, a more of a rock approached track, ment to wake you up after the previous chilling tracks. Liking the singing in this one. Cool style. 7.5/10
Hidden Track (Attatched to the Rooftop track): A very nice rock track, only ment for this album. A very enjoyable song. I don't know why it's a hidden track but hey, at least it's there. 8/10

Average score: 7.5/10

So not amazing but i think it's worth paying watever price it has, unless it's like $100,000. (anything under $20 or around £12 for me). Very good album, as I said there is not one track that I disslike. Even if you are unsure, just buy it, it's going cheap. You won't be dissapointed.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but their next two after this kill this one.......2006-01-30

Okay, maybe it's just me, but I don't think this is their best. the best tracks on here are probably "Vegas Two Times" "Mr. Writer" or "Step On My Old Size Nines". Lots of these tracks are very pensive, and it sounds like they really wanted to feature the acoustics. If you like their pensive stuff, get this. If you want their harder (in my opinon better) stuff, pick up the other ones

5 out of 5 stars hidden track/bonus cut.......2006-01-01

There's another song after "Rooftop", and it's terrific. Probably titled, fittingly enough, "Surprise." Don't miss it!

4 out of 5 stars Their weakest album.......2005-04-11

Perhaps it isn't surprising that this is Sterophonics weakest album, as Kelly Jones wrote most of this in his darkest hour. However, it is too inconsistent and downright chintzy in places to be truly enjoyable front to back. Cuts like Mr. Writer, Vegas Two Times, and Rooftop rock out like no ones business and are the highlights, as is the sunshine-pop of Have a Nice Day. However, there are dirges like Everyday I Think of Money and downright schmaltz like Caravan Holiday. A good album but certainly their worst.

5 out of 5 stars a beautiful disc.......2005-03-26

Just because a band is successful and is reflecting on that success and the world they live in doesn't make this album any less enjoyable. This Stereophonics disc has beautiful melodies and reflective lyrics that I play over and over. It may be more polished than earlier discs but it maintains its own charm and beauty, and is well worth adding to your collection. The lyrics present an insightful look at the world and the melodies are truly beautiful. It's also the perfect poolside/beach disc.

3 out of 5 stars A step up from the so-so disc 2.......2004-06-22

As these discs go, #3 is fairly packed with goodies, some you've heard enough to make your bowels move, and some that are pretty cool surprises. Gary Numan's "Cars" kicks things off and sounds a lot better than I remember it sounding. Maybe I'm mellowing. The B-52's "Private Idaho", "What I Like About You" by The Romantics and Squeeze's "Tempted" all fit into the "heard it a million times" category, but since they're all pretty cool songs I decided to give them a pass. The most pleasant surprises on this volume are Rockpile's "Teacher Teacher" and "88 Lines About 44 Women" by The Nails. Uncovering nuggets like these are what makes this collection fun.

5 out of 5 stars Top Of The Line.......2001-07-07

This and Vol 5 are the best in the series. This is a good reflection of the diversity and talent of many of the 80's best. Many of the bands here had lenghty careers (XTC, Squeeze) while others made the most of thier 15 minutes of fame. How great to hear Visages "Fade To Grey" and Kid Creoles "Stool Pigeon" again. Great c.d., I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Best of the Series!.......2000-01-05

Unlike the other CDs in this series, every cut is a gem! Well known classics like "Cars", "Private Idaho" and "Teacher, Teacher" are combined with less well known (at least to me) equally great songs like "88 Lines", "Stool Pigeon" and especially "I Live in the City". I own vol 1-7 and 13; this is the best!

3 out of 5 stars Choose It for the Songs You Recognize.......2004-12-22

I own several CDs in this series and this one, unfortunately is the one that comes off the shelf the least. Even since loading the contents up MP3 style into my computer and iPod only a few get played. Only a select few truly sound like the alternative radio I grew up with in the 80s.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent 80's tunes.......2003-10-05

The gem on this disc is obviously Ultravox's Vienna. While the others are very, very good and a few crappy tunes I can't even remember getting air time back in the day, the disc is an overall prize.

4 out of 5 stars Cultural Gap?.......2001-12-18

After reading the first few reviews I thought it might be appropriate to respond. There are a large number of hits on this album, but a lot of them weren't US hits. If you lived in the UK, Europe or Australia - you will know and like a lot of these songs - even americans who got into the new wave scene in the late 70s and early 80s will know songs from clubs that never got radio play. I really enjoyed this album - and if you know a reasonable number of the songs - I am sure you will enjoy it - it's great at parties too!!

2 out of 5 stars HAVE TO AGREE.......2001-07-07

I have to agree with the previous reviewer. When I started looking down the track listing, I realized I bought this for three cuts ("Love Will Tear Us Apart", "Vienna", and "Danger") probobly one of the weaker complations in the series.

2 out of 5 stars A So-So Collection.......2000-08-18

Any fan of New Wave will likely already have the best of the tracks included on this collection. And what you don't have, you could find at a retail "Cut-Out" bin.

Some of the transfer quality is questionable. You could probably obtain a better quality by taping your local radio station's "retro" 80s show. But as I mentioned, you probably already have "I Don't Like Monday's" floating around somewhere!

If you see this CD around cheaply, it's worth picking up (to, if nothing else, save you from having to acquire the better songs one by one). There are a couple of cool tunes which take you back, but all in all, the CD is a hit-or-miss collection.

4 out of 5 stars Where is the rest of the OXO album?.......2004-01-26

Amazing no one ever make any attempt to release the original OXO album. The whole LP was full of great pop songs which made dance a generation in the early 80s in Mar del Plata, Argentina Every DJ in town had a copy of the album. Despite their hit "Whirly Girl", "You make it sound so easy" and "I'll take you back" were on top. Please Rhino help us out!!!!!

3 out of 5 stars I think the Tubes would be embarrassed to be included here.......2000-01-20

I doubt the Tubes would want their song "She's a Beauty" lumped together in this package of songs. But you gotta love having access to a copy of OXO's "Whirly Girl". Geez, I can remember buying that album when it was first released in the early 80's! Great song!

5 out of 5 stars I found my favorite song!!.......1999-04-28

I've been looking for the song "Kiss Me" from Tin Tin. It's about itme someone re-released it.

5 out of 5 stars "Escalator of Life" by Robert Hazard.......1999-04-03

This compilation CD includes Robert Hazard's obscure, but classic, song "Escalator of Life". That alone makes this great collection of new wave songs worth owning.

5 out of 5 stars Better than the most of the others.......1998-09-10

I have five of the "Just can't get enough" CDs, and this particular collection is one of the best in the series. Some of the other CDs have some tracks which can only be described as horrible, but the songs on this one are consistently decent.
