Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Mostly good.......2007-06-21

I came across this album first when I worked at my college radio station. I was looking through the random pile of new alternative CDs that were sent to us for promotion. My show dealt with mostly the "classic" alternative hits from the 90's, with newer music included. I tried to keep the show as consistent as possible, so the newer alternatives were for the most part too "hardcore" for my rotation. I found The Humming's CD, Hello Cannonball, and popped it in. I was very pleased with the rhythm, the melodies, and the beats (particularly the lo-fi break beats on Consider This). I put it on the air, and it was a big hit on the college campus.

Don't get me wrong here, I love the CD, and it has a permanent spot in my personal rotation, but a good review of anything finds at aleast one thing wrong with it.

In my case, its the lyrics. They seem to me a bit too simplistic- as if they were written not out of passion or turmoil, rather as an afterthought to a great sounding band.

In the end, 4 out of 5. I say buy it, listen to it, and more than likely, you'll not regret it.

Personal note: VERY good driving music. (I worked as a courier in college)

5 out of 5 stars lost and found.......2005-07-27

I recently found this album while rummaging through the hidden pocket of an old bag. I knew it was missing, I just couldn't place it. It actually bothered me at times. Let's just put it this way....I am very pleased that I've recovered it. Such a good album. Upbeat, light and airy. Easy listening with a Ben Folds-esque vibe. Love it.

5 out of 5 stars what else can i say?.......2001-10-25

the only thing i can say about this album is that you'd have to hate music not to like it. there really is something here for everyone: catchy pop melodies, jazz-influenced harmonies, fine musicianship, and great ensemble playing.

personally, i don't think that the album even begins to compare to their live performances, but that only speaks positively of their shows; it's still one of my favorite CD's, and one of the few that i can happily listen to over and over again without ever tiring of it.

to sum up: you have no excuse for not owning this album, except that you hadn't heard of it before. now that you've heard of it, you're really out of excuses. so why are you still reading?

5 out of 5 stars Epic 1st Album.......2000-08-21

Don't miss out on this one. A great collection of tunes from start to finish - not a stinker in the bunch. I have played this album for family and friends and everyone asks "Who is this? It's very catchy." The creamy vocal harmonies and advanced song structure will keep you hooked.

5 out of 5 stars The Next Wave from Vermont.......2000-08-15

I have to admit that I'm a bit prejudiced, having known the band for quite a while. I've seen these guys develop musically over the past 10 years into a group of amazingly talented musicians. They are a fantastic band to see live and this album is a great snapshot of their work. The songs are catchy and the lyrics soulful. This cd will stay on repeat for weeks.
