Not for the serious flautist.......2006-06-10

Most of the tracks on this CD consist of saccharine fluff, such as Disney, show-tunes, etc. If I buy a flute recording, I want to hear some serious music, not this ghastly schmaltz. And I hate to say it, I'm not a huge fan of Galway's playing style. It's too light and airy, just on the edge of going into overtones. He overuses his vibrato, especially on the higher notes. When you want them to just smoothly soar with rich tone, they just sort of flutter about. He does have impeccable technique and speed, but his tone leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Seek out another artist!

Admirers of James Galway as a superb classical flutist, of whom I am one, should be forewarned that this 2002 release has been packaged by the mass merchandisers for the "crossover" crowd and the mass market: there's slim pickin's here for serious music lovers. The first CD contains brief, lightweight classical "hits" in "arranged" versions, basically encore bonbons, while almost the entire second CD is devoted to ephemeral, forgettable pop fluff. There's not much of substance here; given Galway's vast (over 50 recordings) discography, the classical music lover would be well advised to look elsewhere.

I usually don't listen to music like this, but the cover art caught my eye. It describes perfectly the feeling you get. You could be in Times Square traffic on a Saturday night, and still feel peaceful. Great artist.

I too, heard this cd playing in a shop many years ago and aked "who is that?". I think Danny Wright was unknown at the time - I purchased it on the spot. I thought it was just my particular taste, but based on these other reviews I see I am in good company - it does indeed speak to you in some mysterious way. His Christmas albums are very good too.

Absolutely Beautiful!.......2005-05-11

This CD was playing as background music in a store I was shopping in about 10 years ago, and I just had to ask the cashier who this artist was (the first and last time I've ever done that). I bought the CD on the spot, and have been listening to it regularly ever since.

Quite honestly, the music on this CD has the ability to touch your soul - I simply have no other words to describe it! Each songs touches you in a different way - bringing up various emotions - I had never heard music that did that before.

I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys the sound of the piano, and is seeking to relax and unwind.

Incredible Piano Music.......2004-09-06

This is the best all-around album I have ever heard, across all music genres. Every track is outstanding. It's relaxing and enjoyable. I got it back when it was available only on a cassette (15+ years ago), and I wore the cassette out. If you like piano music, this is a must. What a shame I can't give it more stars.

I love this CD. Danny Wright's music is wonderful. I have had this CD for about ten years and I never tire of it. It is my favorite. It is the most beautiful piano music. I highly recommend Phantasys!!

A Slight Innacuracy.......2007-06-13

The version of "Nadia's Theme" (Theme from The Young and the Restless) isn't actually the one you're expecting. I believe it's actually the original arrangement made for "Bless the Beasts and the Children". So what later became the Young and the Restless theme (the one that was a hit) still remains unreleased on CD.

Hopefully, we can see that version on a future release. Maybe they could get "Little Ballerina Blue" on one while they're at it.

Still, some great stuff here.

I was excited to find this album. I bought it but was horrified to find a loud vocal on the first track. The rest of the music is all instrumental but this one track simply JARS you when it plays. Very disappointing!

Another Collection You Wonr Find Anywhere else.......2003-05-06

Well, ERIC records has done it again.

Continuing their unique practice of giving us both well known hits and impossible to find rarities, Eric presents Volume 2 of "Hard to Find Orchestral Instrumentals". This one is, in my opinion, even better than the first.

First off, the sound quality of this disk is ASTOUNDING. ERIC has gotten the various reissue departments to provide them with absolute first generation mono and stereo masters and this CD proves it. The aural quality is breathtaking. The fact that Orchestral music is so beautifully suited for true stereo playback is exhibited here, as a whopping 15 of the 20 tracks are True Stereo and sound magnificent.

There are, of course, the big soundtrack hits here, like 'The Day The Rains Came" "Rocky", "Ben Casey", "Theme from The Apartment", and " Nadias Theme". All top 30 and well remembered. However, for this 43 year old fan, it was the some of the lessor known tracks, in particulatr the 1963 Colpix low level charter "Theme From The Long Ships" that really makes this collection the gem that it is. Outstanding tracks include "Theme From The Sundowners" , "The Dark At The Top of The Stairs" and "I Will Follow Him" , all tracks that will suddenly sound familiar again after first listen.

Therein lies the BEST part of this collection. When you put this on your player, you will be treated to a nostalgic feast,
a time when the magic of Orchestral music still ruled the charts, and existed in all our homes. And you'll certainly remember most of these once you hear them, which is the fun part!!

There arent enough great things I can say about this collection AND its sister CD "Hard To Find pop Instrumentals- Part 2" I personally liked this volume better, but if you dont have either yet, give yourself a musical treat, and some REAL listening enjoyment and pick these up...

Its listening the way it used to be.

Tasteful and elegant........2004-09-27

I am a DJ and ordered this CD when a couple asked me to play music for the wedding ceremony as well. Since it was an intimate setting, I thought a simple piano arrangement of the traditional "Bridal Chorus" and "Wedding March" would work better than full orchestra versions. This CD worked beautifully.

After searching all over Palm Beach County for a suitable CD for my daughter's wedding I came upon this one and really did not hold out much hope, but ordered it strictly because of the reviews. It is beautiful for the person who is looking for a more pure piano sound, free of all the other "stuff". Very well done, something for everyone. Worth the price and then some.

I am a professional dj owner and heard his music. I assist 100+ brides on their music choices and this CD is absolutely the best for a bride that needs piano solo music for the guests entering the ceremony (prelude) through the ceremony ending. It is a must have. Also in combination with this CD, is his piano versions of love songs "HONEYMOON SUITE" (My Heart Will Go On - Is The First Track). It is classic, clean and used over & over.

When my husband and I were planning our wedding, we wanted beautiful piano music, so we bought "The Ultimate Wedding Collection." It really made the wedding even more romantic, and now I listen to the CD at work and at home. On our anniversary, we often play the CD while we enjoy a quiet candlelight dinner at home. Oh, So beautiful---- every track!!!!! My personal favorite has to be the soothing SERENATA. So, get comfy, put on the headphones so you won't miss a single note...... Andre Rieu's violin is magical!!!!!

Decent playing, lousy arrangements.......2005-11-11

Well, apparently I'm in the minority, but I found this CD disappointing. I bought it because I fell in love with "Song to the Moon" when I heard it on the radio, but this track and possibly the "Londonderry Air" are the only ones worth listening to. Although the melodies chosen for this album are indeed beautiful, the arrangements (Rieu's own) are poorly done. I would much more highly recommend Joshua Bell's Romance of the Violin, which has a similar theme, albeit restricted to classical tunes.

Forget the hype, this is great music.......2005-08-04

Try not to think about the cheesy "Andre Rieu in Tuscany" PBS special. This is a very pleasing program of selections of great romantic melodies, beautifully arranged. Few people are going to purchase a CD of Dvorak's Rusalka just to hear "Song to the Moon" so this is the place to hear it. And it's even better on Rieu's violin than in the original vocal version. Rieu plays perfectly in tune (not always easy in the higher registers of the violin) and has exquisite phrasing that brings out the musicality of even the most over-recorded selections.

Rhieu's arrangements (with Jo Huijts) have hints of "beautiful music" (think Ray Coniff) but only hints, and the result is very tasteful. For example, the piano obligato under the strings on "O mio babbino caro" makes you wish that Puccini had thought of that.

This is a wonderful album to listen to while relaxing and would make a great gift for someone who appreciates classical music but doesn't have specific preferences.

Music That Will Touch Your Heart.......2004-12-05

This one is one of my favorites of Andre Rieu. It's very romantic. It reminded me of my honeymoon in Vienna. I like to play it at home a lot. It lifts the spirit and touches the heart. Made me cry one time.

I own all of Danny's cd's and play them all the time, but this is one of my favorites. I love "Song for Lea" and play it over and over. Danny's music is uplifting, thoughtful, emotional, sweet and spirited. I think he's one of the best instrumental artists now. I want everyone to discover him!

This CD is perfect for relaxing and background music while I read. My husband, who actually prefers classic rock, even enjoys this CD playing in the background and I personally believe that this CD mellows my hubby out after a long, stressful day of labor intensive, hot, sweatty, outdoor work. Touches the Soul.......2005-05-11

This was my 2nd Danny Wright CD and, just like the first (Phantasys), the music seems to touch my soul - something I have not felt from any other artist.

This CD is absolutely wonderful! If you enjoy the sound of the piano, and are looking to find a CD to help you relax and unwind, this is definately the one for you! I can't speak highly enough about Danny's music - he is truly amazing!

Reflective and Introspective.......2000-02-13

This is a collection of quiet, soothing music that brings a smile to the heart and warms the soul. A number of piano albums often seem empty without accompaniment, yet Mr. Wright illustrates why solo piano can be the most expressive of any musical medium. His compositions are clean, clear, and crisp...much like the season he evokes in his title.

The album contains selections that are uplifting and full of hope, while others are spare and atmospheric. As I listen to the music, I often imagine the artist in a meadow, beneath a canopy of golden and amber leaves, the sunlight dappled on his keyboard...a time for reflection...for instrospection.

A Melodical thought of peace and tranquility.......1999-09-10

This album begins soft and peaceful, and eventually delves deeper into your thoughts. I find that it is incredibly relaxing, and even though only one track is actually titled "Autumn Dreams" I find that the entire collection makes me remember my favorite time of year. Most of the pieces seem to be a variation of each other, but I can still listen to this CD for hours at a time.

If you enjoy simple piano recordings not overly flowery or heavily styled, you will enjoy Autumn Dreams. You can really sense the leaves falling and the fragrance of the land during the seasonal change. It is in good company with other pianists such as Jim Brickman or Liz Story.

This cd leaves some to be desired.......2000-12-26

On this cd Danny Wright stubbed his toe a little bit. I have other cds by him that are better than this one.

For this cd Danny choose an average repertoire and not nearly enough household name songs. I would have preferred more songs that I knew and liked, than the ones that are performed here.

Danny did a good job of playing on this project. He seemed to know his material.

Recommendation: I can not give a buy signal for this cd.

Danny Wright's Applause is wonderful. I recently got married and did not want to walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding march. Instead, I used Danny Wright's piano version of the music from Phantom of the Opera. Everyone loved it! He takes popular songs that everyone knows and loves and plays them on the piano. You will know every song.
