About the Artist
Stan the man grew up in Middletown, Ohio. He was the eleventh of twelve children, born to southern Methodist minister Rev. Felton Griffin and Annie Bea Griffin. Middletown is a small midwest town, known more for its sports than music. Stan grew up playing sports mostly until going to the basement of his house one day, where his older brother practiced the saxophone. He picked up the sax and began playing. His mother, not knowing it was him playing, yelled to his older brother, "It's time to knock it off Its getting late. Momma Its me, "Stan, playing!" She was astonished that he learned so quickly. Soon after that, he had his own sax and was playing in night clubs at the tender age of sixteen. No one ever bothered to check to see how old I was at the time. They just thought I was old enough because I was a musician. Stan picked up the guitar later and found that he could play it just as well and started to write his own music! Thus began the musical career of Stan The Man! Stan grew up listening to Al Jarreau, George Benson, and Luther Vandross. So if you hear their influences in his music, it's because that's who he is. You could say that he's a Breath of Fresh Air, and maybe thats why they call him Stan The Man and there will be a lot more of that good stuff coming from Stan The Man!

Fresh Air features Stan's vocal virtuosity on 'I've Got my Wish', as he tells his story of a long wait for the woman of his dreams. This track can best be described as a strong Love Ballad that is worthy of a place in Wedding day history. He has captured the esscence of the Late Great Luther Vandross and with his incredible vocal range gives him his own status as a crooner. The rest of the CD follows suite with an array of different vocal style that makes this CD so easy on the ears and not boring. Stan The Man has a great vocal range and with his song writing ability says that He's different and unique and one of the most versatile vocalist on the planet.

I lately discovered this wonderful singer. Her voice is extraordinary: pure, clear, musical, powerful, wide. Actually I consider Dame Marlene as one of the greatest singers, and one of the last true classical divas of popular music, along with Cleo Laine, Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey. Let "a breth of fresh air" purify our mephitic contemporary musical world!

Fresh to a point..........2003-07-16

There's a lot of music out there today which boasts a Celtic theme or flavor but really falls into the ambient "new age" slot. That's where Breath of Fresh Air should probably go.

Of course, it's hard for any music featuring bagpipes, uilleann or otherwise, to be truly ambient. I think maybe the idea was good but, along the way, the concept became a little confused.

It's definitely something new, neither traditional nor purely ambient. Whether or not it's successful ... well, that depends on whether you enjoy ambient music that's not really meant to stay in the background. Personally, I prefer something a little more intentionally intrusive.
