Mellow take on the Lips........2007-03-24

This album is very interesting. I had been a skeptic of the string tributes for a long time. I'm a huge Flaming Lips fan, so when I found this for real cheap I picked it up. It is really quite soothing. Plus all the melodies are already familiar. Definately not an essential album but a nice one anyway.

Perfect for the Season.......2005-11-19

I purchased this years ago and the enjoyment has grown every Christmas. Handel's Messiah is beautiful, The Nutcracker is a classic and the arrangement of hymns conveys the true wonders of the season. While there is a place for pop carols, these classics should be in every Christian's music library. I loved this so much, I actually purchased a complete replacement set when I lost one of the discs. Certainly an excellent value that any music lover would treasure.

FOR WHISTLING OR SINGING ALONG.......2003-12-28

The gifted Richard Hayman (Boston Pops arranger for more than 30 years) offers an interesting collection of holiday favourites. The back cover says "Orchestra and Chorus" - beware, there is no chorus. The sub-title "Philharmomic Symphony Orchestra" is rather pedantic. Why not simply "Richard Hayman and His Orchestra"? The opening and closing numbers are sing-along medleys... the liner notes offer the words. Two Leroy Anderson numbers receive a fair treatment: SLEIGH RIDE and SONG OF THE BELLS, the latter being played rrather slowly. There is a beautiful rendition of MUSIC BOX DANCER, the only version I know that uses the music box. The counter-melody is too loud and takes away the charm of the main theme. A few compositions by the conductor himself. A great collection for tree-trimming, whistling or singing along.

Great CD - Received Damaged.......2007-06-27

This CD was to be used for my May 19,2007 bride for her ceremony music.
The CD arrived damaged and Amazon did not have anymore in stock.

Disappointing.......2004-10-31

A mostly music compilation that sounds like a creative mixing genius put it together. Saddly, the wedding entrance march is sung in German (I think). Some of the music is a little "thin" instead of being "full bodied". The wedding exit march will put listeners to sleep. I wish listening samples had been available or I would have saved the money.

One of the best singles of 1999!!!.......2006-01-30

"Will You Wait For Me" is a beautiful ballad about losing a loved one and trying to find the strengh to move on even though it's hard because you still miss them.

Simply written, yet very meaningful, thought provoking and emotional. I believe if you have ever lost a loved one this song will tear at your emotions.

It incorporates spanish guitars, piano and beautiful strings through out the track. A wonderful piece of music written by a talented musician. This is one of the best stand out singles of 1999.

Incredible two-fold single.......2000-06-04

While the ballad version of this song IS very beautiful and extremely touching, the "Eric Kupper's S-Boy Radio Mix" is incredible. The same vocals over a danceable beat creates a completely different feel to the song - not as serious, but still passionate. I like both versions for different reasons. The song I could compare this to would be "Forever Young" by Alphaville. The original from 1984 is slower and very serious, but the 1988 remix is very danceable and makes the song seem less serious. I really love the difference in tempo and how it makes me feel when I listen to the song. This is a great CD-single to own!

Brilliant ballad song.......2000-05-23

I've got Kavana's comment for this song. He said;"This song is one of my favourites on the album (INSTINCT), actually - I've never done a ballad before! It's about a friend of mine who died of cancer, and writing it was great therapy in a way. Hopefully, this is the defining one for me."This is big ballad song. it makes you cry..... excellent example of the group's deep harmony roots.......2002-11-21

Apparently the previous reviewer purchased this disk without being familar with the Manhattan's earlier work. The oustanding cuts are "I'm The One Love Forgot," "Can I," "I Call it Love," "When We Were Made As One," "Follow Your Heart,""It's That Time of the Year,""Alone On New Year's Eve." Notable one's are "Baby I Need You" and "Baby I'm Sorry." These songs are worth the price of the disk alone, particularly if you are a fan of sixties five-man group harmony.

Not The Best of The Manhattans.......2001-08-04

The Manhattans have always been one of my favorite groups. I bought this cd for 3 songs because I'm a collector of music from the 60's and 70's. The rest of this cd is terrible!
