Bluegrass star Alison Krauss has resisted many offers to move from Boston's small indie label, Rounder Records, to a big Nashville company, but her good friends in the Cox Family have made just that journey for Just When We're Thinking It's Over. Krauss is involved as guest fiddler, arranger and producer, and she calls on many past and present members of her own Union Station band to help out in the studio. There are drums on every song, and the material is a mix of originals, hard-core bluegrass, mainstream country and oldies. The Nashville studio process has slickified the Cox family and AKUS almost beyond recognitilon. I enjoy this album, but would have enjoyed it more without reverb, drums, etc. Why mess with a good thing? Why does Nashville have to squeeze REAL country music into its buttery mold? I'd encourage the Cox Family to go back to Rounder, but they probably have a contract that won't let them. In sum, real good music, and worth buying, but too fooled around with. Next thing you know, they'll probably have their own amusement park.

Suzanne - The voice of an Angel.......2003-11-15

I have been a huge fan of the Cox Family and Alison Krauss for many years and I can't get enough of them. Both Alison Krauss and Suzanne Cox have such beautiful voices that they soften even the hardest of hearts. When you hear them sing, simply close your eyes and let these Angels sing your troubles away.
This album could have used a bit more bluegrass. The commercial stuff is ok, but the Cox family really shine when they sing bluegrass. If you haven't heard the Cox Family sing, you are missing out on one of life's little treasures.

Amazed and Delighted.......2003-01-25

My only previous exposure to the Cox Family was from their appearances in the Down From the Mountain tour and their gospel collaboration with Allison Krauss "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow."

I was a little surprised to hear a more upbeat "country" sound on this CD than "bluegrass" but I like both genre's and the CD is produced so well that that I really enjoy it! I was amazed and delighted that they seem to be stretching themselves a bit musically.

I would call it "polished" rather than "slick" as one commenter did.

Like another reviewer, I too am in love with Suzanne Cox's voice. She is not featured as often as I would like -- the whole family takes part, but that's OK. Everyone sounds great.
They harmonize so well together.

I am now looking to buy two more CDs from the Cox Family, that's how much I like them.

Get offa your high horse..........2002-12-31

This album was my first Cox Family purchase. I have been, and still am delighted with it. I enjoy hard-core bluegrass more than most, and no, this album is not that, but there is room for talented groups to reach out and explore other areas. This is a solid, enjoyable album, and introduced my husband to this tremendous group. He is NOT a huge bluegrass fan, and had he heard Beyond The City or I Know Who Holds Tomorrow first, he might not have appreciated the Cox' entire body of work.

Excellent guitar, mandolin and dobro work, and super vocals. Just like mariachi, EVERYBODY SINGS, and everybody's good, too.
Happy tunes and tearjerkers - something for everybody.

Worthwhile

Too slick.......2002-10-04

Somewhat disappointing. Too much of a slick modern country sound; not enough bluegrass harmonizing. A few of the songs are good, and the singing is well done, but if I had heard it before buying it, I would not have bought it.

I love this album. It is manufactured pop, but from what I heard, this group was runner up to the now defunct group Hear'say. due to the fact that this album was huge and the song just a little was even bigger I think its safe to say that the wrong group was picked. from top to bottom this album has hot beats, good vocals and the ability to make you dance.

1. Thinking It Over- Liberty's X first release & the song that got me interested in them. A great pop song which is a great start to the album. 10/10

2. Just A Little- Liberty X's most known & probably their best song yet. Great lyrics, video & dance rountine. 10/10.

3. Doin' It- One of my fave songs on the album,as a romantic but cool chorus & verse. I love the way it is sung. 10/10

4. Wanting Me Tonight- This song is okay, but there are better songs on the album. Its worth a listen too. 7/10.

5. Got To Have Your Love- Another great Liberty X, but not as strong as the previous releases. 8/10

6. No Clouds- A happy, inspirational song that will put you in a good mood if you're feeling down. 10/10.

7. Everyday- A pop rock rnb song with really good lyrics & is sung really well. 8/10

8. Saturday- A party/dance track from Liberty X. Feel good, happy song. 9/10

9. Holding On For You- A slow, romantic ballad. The lyrics & the singing is fantastic in this song. It is one of my favourite songs on the album. 10/10.

10. I Got What You Want- This song is okay, however i think Liberty X can do a bit better, but still worth a listen as the lyrics are quite good. 7/10.

11. Feel The Rush- A great song with great singing. 9/10

12. Right Here, Right Now- Another fantastic upbeat song. 10/10

13. Dream About It- I love this song. The singing is fantastic, as are the lyrics. Definitely one of the best LX songs ever. 10/10

14. Never Give Up- This song is a very hopeful & inspirational song, I just wish it was longer as it is only about 1 minute long. 10/10

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS IN THE WORLD. THE WHOLE ALBUM IS FULL OF GREAT TRACKS. EACH OF THEM SPECIAL AND MEANINGFULL. MY FAVORITE TRACK ON THIS ALBUM IS "EVERYDAY". I LOVE THIS SONG AND THE GUYS VOCALS ARE AMAZING. I THINK HIS VOICE IS SEXY. AND I ALSO LIKE THE SONG JUST A LITTLE BIT. BUT THE GROUP "PLAY" ALSO HAS A GOOD VERSION OF JUST A LITTLE BIT. BUT LIBERTY X'S VERSION IS MOR MATURE. I HOPE YOU GUYS BUY THIS ALBUM IT IS WORTH IT!

Liberty X are brilliant. They are the rejects of UK popstars, but I reckon the winners, Hear'Say are rubbish. Liberty X are the most talented band around.
This album is one of the best ever. It's an excellent debut, and one of my fave albums! Rundown:

1. Thinking It Over
Liberty X's debut single. It has a cool guitar beginning, and great vocals. A great choice for a single. 5/5

2. Just A Little
This song is what made me a Liberty X fan. I love the music and the vocals. The video is great, and the peformance is excellent. 5/5

3. Doin' It
LX's second release. It's inviting and catchy, with great music and vocals. This song is very fair, with equal parts for the boys and girls. My second fave on the album. 555/5

4. Wanting Me Tonight
This song has strange lyrics. I don't know why, but it does. It has cool music and overall it's a pretty good song. 5/5

5. Got To Have Your Love
This is LX's fourth release, but it's my least favourite song on the album. It's still good, but it's my least fave. It has weird music and weird vocals, but overall it's an ok song. 4.9/5

6. No Clouds
When I heard the beginning of this song, I'd thought I'd hate it, but I discovered it's a brill track! It has a happy, positive message and a killer chorus. That Kelli can really sing! 5/5

7. Everyday
I don't know why people don't like this song! It's stunning! I love the beats and the guy's vocals especially on the verses. The chorus is brilliant, and I really wish it would be released as a single. 55555555555/5

8. Saturday
This song is great for a party. The chorus drags on at the end a bit but the acappalla chorus saves it. 5/5

9. Holding On For You
A lovely ballad! Michelle does the main vocals and she sounds stunning, especially on the chorus. A beautiful song with moving lyrics. I love it. 5/5

10. I Got What You Want
I didn't like this when I got the album, but now I like it. I like the beginning, the music sounds kinda classical. The chorus is a bit boring, but overall it's a pretty cool song. 5/5

11. Feel The Rush
A great upbeat party song! I love the piano at the beginning, it makes me dance. The chorus is cool. 5/5

12. Right Here Right Now
I don't really know what to say about this song. It has a nice chorus and cool verses. Lolz, I'm helpful. 5/5

13. Dream About It
I like the beginning. "Are we gonna go in or just stand outside all night?" "Alright, let's go then". The guys and the girls sound great against each other. 5/5

14. Never Give Up
This song was a surprise when I first heard it. I was amazed it was only a minute long. I love the music! I wish it was a full length track. 5/5

My favourite member of Liberty X is Jessica. I also love Kevin!!! Definitely buy this album now! This is a brilliant CD!!!
