The first R&B/pop American band originating from Japan. Their sound is, "contemporary," containing elements of rock, rap, hip-hop, ballads and dance grooves.
4us actually started on January 20,1995. It was on this day that two members of the popular band "Kobe Posse" began planning to make music. After the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995(Kobe, JAPAN), the members of Kobe Posse was scattered abroad in search of work. While two members of the four-man group moved to other cities, Freddie Please Snedecor and Ricky Cosmo Francis remained in the torn city. Determined not to let the quake hinder the popularity of the name, Freddie and Cosmo continued as a duo (under the name Kobe Posse) for about 6 months.
Later on, long-time Kobe Posse sideman Donald Moore joined the duo and the three of them continued playing around the Kobe/greater Osaka area. It was understood that this line-up would continue until everything was back to normal (i.e. until the city of Kobe was rebuilt). Everything was fine until the ever-growing fan base became accustomed to this new Kobe Posse sound. This new sound is what you hear when only the bare essentials required to produce modern music are used. Put a guitar, bass, and drum together and you get a POWER TRIO.
Because of the wide variety of music that was being played at the time, it was sometimes necessary to hire a keyboardist to fully execute some of the music. Even though the keyboards were incorporated into the music, the basic power trio sound was preserved. To avoid confusion about the real Kobe Posse and the real Kobe Posse sound, it was decided that the name be changed. The three members started using the name KP, however it didn't stop the confusion. It was realized that in order for the confusion to cease it was necessary to do a complete overhaul of the name. On the Shinkansen (Bullet train) Cosmo came up with the name 4us. Freddie and Donald immediately ratified it. And the music goes on. D-Please Inc. Music Corporation
