5 out of 5 stars The Better of the two.......2006-06-03

I have both disc in the series. I liked the music on this disc much more than the first. The selections seem more focused and the sounds are much clearer. Also, the particular pieces fit better together. I love the sound of this group and hope they make more in the future.

3 out of 5 stars Not as good as version 1 in this series.......2004-09-03

This is by the same group who did the wonderful & engaging Early American Choral Music 1. Somehow this CD did not live up to its predecessor in some ways. The performance is still top notch, but somehow the CD as a whole isn't quite as engaging to listen to as the first. Perhaps version 2's strength is also its weakness. Its diversity of composers allows you to pear past the shadow of William Billings and sample other notable early American hymn writers. That exposure is valuable & appreciated. I just couldn't get into it as much.

A final note: many of the texts are beautiful (and available from the publisher's web site). However, I would criticize "Who is this that cometh from Edom?" as dwelling just a bit too much on the Jews' rejection of Jesus. Among other reasons & issues, Christianity says that we are all sinners & there is no cause to single a particular group out negatively.

4 out of 5 stars Same as 'Goostly Psalmes: Anglo-American Psalmody 1550-1800'.......2004-02-21

Please note this CD is a duplicate of His Majestie's Clerkes's "Goostly Psalmes: Anglo-American Psalmody 1550-1800" -- identical contents but a different name and cover. I ordered both and was irritated to discover this. This CD is cheaper, so I recommend this one. It is a lovely choral work from a little-known period of sacred music.

This is great choral singing, and if you missed it in this incarnation, all is not lost. It has been reissued by Harmonia Mundi's budget label, Classical Express as "Early American Choral Music vol 2 Anglo-American Psalmody 1550-1800". Texts of the songs aren't in the booklet but can be downloaded from the label's website.

5 out of 5 stars Great Catch For Any Korn Fan.......2004-12-31

As a hopelessly devoted Korn fan, I have not only collected all of their albums, soundtracks, DVD's and so on, but within my collection, I hold just about every Korn remix, live song, or b-side, thanks to both file-sharing and, of course, these nifty little overpriced imports. So I can say from experience that the "Thoughtless" import/CD-single is a worthy buy. Not only do you get the brilliant studio track "Thoughtless" (from Korn's 2002 album, "Untouchables") and it's elaborate and somewhat gratifying music-video as a CD-rom feature, but there are two remixes of the song to back it up, as well as two remixes of "Here To Stay" (also from the same album) that you can't get elsewhere. And oddly enough, this is the first collection of Korn remixes where each mix is pulled off tastefully and makes for many interesting repeat listenings. The two highlights for me, however, are the D. Cooley & DJZ-Trip remix of "Thoughtless" and the Mindless Self Indulgence remix of "Here To Stay." The former takes the song into new territory and is very entertaining to listen to, as the song is given a musical landscape that is the polar opposite of the original. The latter is my favorite, hands down. Former tourmates, Mindless Self Indulgence (from the 2000 Sick & Twisted Tour with Staind), completely nail this version, and absorb it into their musical vocabulary, just don't expect any of the group's signature tasteless sense of humor to leak out, though. Overall, it's a great buy for any serious Korn fan. Their remixes are rarely ever this good, and the music video featured just helps round out a release that is actually worth it's price tag.

5 out of 5 stars the columbine story as told by Korn.......2004-09-24

Another kickass song off Untouchables by the awesome group Korn. Faster and heavier than Here to Stay, but not as atmospheric or good (not that that's a diss, every song on that album kicks ass). Evanescence's cover of the song was a unique, interesting take on it, but it cannot compare to this monster. Great song.

4 out of 5 stars St. Columbine.......2003-12-09

I was just wondering where the guy who wrote this other review got the idea that its called St Columbine High School where the shooting took place. St Columbine? what a stupid guy!

3.Thoughtless Remix. This is even better than the original i think so you know this is awsome. 1000/10

4.Here To Stay Remix.I love the original Here To Stay but this one is my favorite one.Its got a bad beat kinda sped it up but its still better than the original. 10/10

5.Here To Stay Remix. The 4th best here to stay its not as good as the original or the other 2 remixes. 10/10

5 out of 5 stars KoRn and thoughtless.........2002-10-30

another great single from a great album from the untouchables, Thougtless is one of the best songs on the new KoRn album, the remixes are just fantastic and the dvd extra is a must, go get thoughtless (single) and the album Untouchables by koRn, and the other albums.
Thoughtless is a great song i give it 9/10, has a dark slow intro which jumps into heavy riffs. The lyrics are very good, looking through the eyes of the killers of the St columbine school shooting, and this is the only song in Untouchables with Jon davis' famous vocal scat. fantastic...

5 out of 5 stars Think about it........2005-12-08

Have any of you heard the Queen of the Damned soundtrack? I can't help but hear and feel a connection with the sound from Korns music replayed in beautiful violin and those that where writen and created by Jonathan Davis for the sound track. At first listen I thought the sound on this tribute was a bit scratchy, but the more I listen to it the more I fall in love with the deepness of the violin and the talent which has always come from Davis and korn. If you love Korn and want to listen to well played music, plick this up.

    2 out of 5 stars well............2005-08-03

I disagree with virtually all of these reviews for the simple fact that I am a metalhead and I've been a KoRn follower since they came out and I truely don't see how this album is a tribute to KoRn (minus the song titles) and how you "can almost hear Jon singing." It's orchestra, and not even very good orchestra at that. If you want something different than the standard KoRn, go pick up All Mixed Up, not this.

5 out of 5 stars The Tribute of a Lifetime.......2004-11-02

Korn has been a band I have always expected to rock out a building, or sound system in a car. But I never expected the SQT of Korn's big songs (like 'A.D.I.D.A.S.', 'Freak on a Leash', 'Thoughtless', 'Alone I Break', and many other classics) to almost surpass the original Korn songs. From the first note from 'Falling Away from Me' to 'Shoots and Ladders' last note, the music keeps you on the edge.

I suggest this as a first if you're ever interested in orchestra music.

5 out of 5 stars A way to get classical fans listening to KoRn........2004-09-04

The "Ya Baby!" String Quartet captures the tonal qualities of all the song perfectly. Then their origanl composition "The Hurt Inside" goes on to compliment the covered material. This is the kind of idea you browse on Amazon for.

    5 out of 5 stars great.......2004-07-06

    5 out of 5 stars Great mixes.......2005-09-17

Untouchables is Korn's most professional sounding album to date. They really took their time with that album and it shows. Well written songs, great lyrics, etc...

Here To Stay and Thoughtless were the first two singles to kick-start Untouchables. Here To Stay being a little heavier than Thoughtless. The remixes (Tone Toven & Sleep Remix / Mindless Self Indulgence Remix) of the track are put together very nicely. The first having a more rap influenced beat, while the second being more industrial. The other 2 mixes for Thoughtless (D. Cooley Remix ft. DJ Z-Trip / Dante Ross Remix) are put together just as good. I never really got into the Dante Ross version, but the D. Cooley version really gets you going!

This is a good single to pick up, personally I think better than the Here To Stay singles. Better remixes that's all.

    4 out of 5 stars Pure hardcore/powerviolence.......2002-01-16

An excellent recording by these extremely talented individuals. Check out the song "Tyke". A definite favorite to everyone who appreciates good, heavy music. The song "Moloch" is really long and the lyrics are really and political and moving. The noise tracks will blow your mind (if not your ear drums) all you ..... Noise fans out there.
Their other recordings were a bit more complex but this is definitely a must have for all MITB fans!!

5 out of 5 stars mind blowing sludge.......2001-04-13

Quintessential power violence/grindcore from So. Cal. Their bass heavy (they have dueling bass players, and no, they're nothing like Ned's Atomic Dustbin) and growling vocals make other hardcore bands seem like twee pop. It was this band that came to the rescue of sludge-rock fans when the Melvins started to go downhill. While I don't think this is their best release, it is absolutely necessary that all hardcore fans have at least one M.I.T.B. album, and this is a good one to start with. The first track, "Puppy Mill", starts off slow and sludgy, but they quickly pick up the pace. Attention political punk rockers/militant vegans: it the title didn't tip you off, the song is about animal rights, a common topic in M.I.T.B. lyrics (see also track 4, "Tyke"). While I love M.I.T.B., I'm not too crazy about the noise tracks. But most of the songs are real rockers. Highly recommended if you're into the Melvins, Infest, Rorshach, Spazz, et. al. Features the bass player from P.H.C. and members of Neanderthal. They also have classy, pushead-esque artwork included in their albums.

My wife picked up a copy of their CD during a business trip... Aging Superhero is my favorite song from the album, but I'd have a hard time finding a bad one here. I hope someone gives these guys a shot...

This band is proof that Rock 'n Roll is not dead. Hensley's vocals are unbelievable. The band takes me back to the days of Big Head Todd and the Monsters, but there's something else here.

5 out of 5 stars These guys are scary good!.......2001-06-08

I caught one of their shows as sort of an audition for my bass guitar instructor (Brian Morris). I needed to find out if he was really any good. They failed to suck in a big way. Their music is very accessible and hopefully somebody who matters will give this hard working band a shot. The only problem now is not playing the CD so much that I get tired of them.

5 out of 5 stars Watch out for this band!.......2001-02-03

I stumbled across this band while watching a friend in another band. The emotion and lyrics are AMAZING, not to mention the stage presence of all band members. They are fun to watch and obviously love what they are doing. I bought the CD and never take it out of my disc changer. Keep up the great work!

5 out of 5 stars Turn Me On!.......2000-10-14

A good friend who is a friend of a band member turned me on to the cd. I was instantly hooked. My favs would have to be Aging Superhero (superman!) and Torture. I would definately recommend this cd for anyone wanting a taste of raw, written from the heart, and sung with true feeling tunes. If you guys read your own reviews..Way to go..I love it!!
