Only half the songs of the original set!!.......2007-01-17

Although I love the CDs, I was disappointed that there were only about half of the songs I thought there would be. I bought the original double cassette set back in the early 90's and when I found the CDs with the same name and cover, I thought I was getting the same thing only on CD. But the Cassettes had twice as many songs, including Let it Snow,Have Yourself a merry Little Christmas,The First Noel, Jingle Bells by Jim Reeves, The Christmas song by the Carpenters and so many others!!

It reminded me of Christmas as a child. I played this all throughout the holidays.

A Good Basic Collection.......2006-02-11

This is a good, basic collection of Christmas Music. As a general rule, Time-Life has selected what is probably the definative artist/arangement of each song.

My only complaints are that there are only 24 songs on two disks and one or two of them are not ones that I would have picked (not my style).

Overall, it's a good set that I would recommend to anyone who wants to start a collection.

Poor Quality.......2005-12-05

The only good thing about this collection is the inclusion of so many Christmas standards. I was very disappointed in the quality of the recordings, they obviously need digital inhancement.

Superb. Just buy this cd. .......2005-08-11

This album was originally released in 1968, to support the chart success of lead single, Girls You Can't Do What The Guys Do. That track is the opening track here, and what a majestic recording it is. It sets a very high standard for any album to maintain, but Betty sees that challenge and enjoys every moment of it.

These recordings have all the youthful exuberance that you would expect from a 14-year-old as Betty was at the time, but also a depth that you would only normally associate with a much older singer. Betty even contributes to the writing, Circle Of Heartbreak being written single-handed. To highlight individual tracks is a bit unnecessary, every track stands tall on its own and as part of the whole album.

The essay by Tony Rounce is informative and of a decent length.

If I have one slight downer, it is that the non-album singles that are mentioned in the essay as following this album were not added in as bonus tracks. At only thirty-two minutes and full price, the additional of those bonus tracks would have been very welcome.

That though is a minor quibble. It will not stop me from awarding five stars and recommending this cd to anyone who has found their way to this listing.

I'm a HUGE Mantovani fan and have had mixed results trying to upgrade my collection to CDs. This collection is the original orchestra arrangements of all the classics. This is the one to buy.

Fantastic Collection of Favorites!!!.......2003-07-02

The Mantovanti Orchestra shows off their "marvelous versatility" in this "wonderful" collection of "8 CDs", with titles that tell you "just what to expect", such as: "The Love Songs", "Memorable Classics", "Itallian Favorites", "On Broadway", etc. You can set the MOOD for practically ANY occassion! There are even some "popular" selections that we all know and treasure like: "Moon River", "Over the Rainbow" and "Autum Leaves"!
You will NOT want to remove these GREAT CDs from your CD Player, once you have listened to them! They make "nice" background music for small get-togethers or "lovely" background music for those "ROMANTIC DINNERS", for you and your "SPECIAL SOMEONE"!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SET!!! It is a GREAT DEAL for the money, even at the full price!!!

Peels Reveal.......2001-06-09

At first I'm thinking, "I've been down this road before." A couple more listens, however, reveal levels that impact me more than the Indigo Girls, Shawn Colvin, or Jewel. Their "folk" thing combines with Melissa Etheridge's "rock" thing and I realize I'm listening to "some" thing about SOMETHING. Exciting, well-produced CD, by a girl I suddenly care about.

John Cusick is great, he started his humor/musical writing on the John Cusick show, an Auburn, MA Cable acces (ACTV 11) cross between the Tonight Show and the Tom Green show. John had incredible talent at making people laugh, its too bad he didnt continue his show.

Being a huge fan of Bob Dylan I'm always looking for good writing, and this CD has it.The music is good and I like it more each time I listen, but it's the lyrics which I first noticed, this kid is good! Get this CD because this is the begining of something special.

This is one of the greatest albums I have ever heard! You can hear decades of influences throughout the entire C.D.. For a seventeen-year-old kid, this is just incredible. It's like listening to a rock-anthology from 1965-present. If you like a more sophisticated,song-writing,lyrics etc. you'll love this. The album has a long shelf-life. I just can't wait to hear t again. This one's a keeper!
