Editorial Reviews
Victor and The Search take you on a timeless journey through life's relationships.
Each layer of The Search unfolds a deeper dimension of the human psyche. It begins with life's easy pleasures, laughter and fantasy. Then, there's this whole ordeal of women and men trying to find each other, and not lose themselves in the process. Somewhere in all the craziness, we start to figure out what's really important. We recognize the strength we receive from family and friends. As children we expected support, as adults we are grateful for it. Throughout The Search we're reminded to explore our creativity, embrace inspiration, and have some fun along the way!
The music itself includes a core of rock and blues, with hints of jazz and soul, surrounded by a progressive aura that appeals to the pop fans as well as the rockers. It's fresh; it's timeless; it's inspirational; it's full of power...it's what you've been looking for from a progressive rock project!
Its all about life, soul... and music!!

A timeless classic.......2007-07-17
Comments on a few favorite songs.......2007-06-06
First off is John Lodge's classic, feel-good rocker 'Ride My See-Saw'. (This tune and 'I'm Just a Singer' frequently trade places as my favorite Moodies song). I might as well admit it right now: I am a HUGE John Lodge fan and he is my fave Moody. That will become glaringly apparent if you read any more of my Moody Blues product reviews. Am I the least bit biased towards this living legend? Not at all! While I am not totally sure of the exact meaning of the lyrics, on the surface RMSS seems to be rife with double entendres and sexual innuendo, at least that's what I've read many times. But knowing of JL's deep religious beliefs, I strongly guess that that's not the case at all. This song is just plain fun to listen and sing along to. John and Justin's great guitar work ain't none too shabbily showcased either. RMSS is John Lodge at his rocking best.
I am also a big fan of Ray Thomas' often overlooked (and in my opinon) under-used talents. His ode to 'Dr. Livingstone' is a cheery, cute song that I could listen to all day long while having a goofy smile on my face. Ray's next offering, 'Legend of a Mind' is a legend of a song, and perfectly shows off this man's awesome vocal skills, not to mention the fact that he can blow the living tar out of a flute. This song has the best series of build-ups (for lack of a better word) and crescendos of any song I have ever heard. (You'll have to over-look the fact that I am not at all musical nor versed in music lingo, so that's the best description I could give. I hope most will understand what I'm talking about). I can literally listen to this song over and over w/o growing tired of it. The subject matter of this song doesn't matter to me one iota. The melody, the beat, the musicianship, and John's fabulous high note harmonies all combine to make this song a pure delight to my ears.
Next on my list is Lodge's 'House of Four Doors'. I'll spare you the details of how great I think this song is. I'll briefly just state that HOFD is hauntingly eerie and beautiful all at the same time. Maybe- just maybe- I could have done w/o 'some' of the sound effects of the creaking door, but hey John didn't ask me for my opinion before including them. It really doesn't affect my overall opinion of this great song. Yes, it's a John Lodge tune, and yes I darn well love it.
I am ending my little synopsis with two songs from the sublime Justin Hayward.(BTW, I like him, too. He's my 2nd fave Moody). Firstly is 'Voices in the Sky'. I have to admit that it took me a while to really love and appreciate this one (I don't exactly know why) but it is a truly lovely song. This song DOES make me wonder what the birds could say to me if they only could. As usual, Justin does a superb vocal and the song fits him and this album really well. But.... my favorite Hayward tune on this record is by far 'The Actor'. In fact, it's one of my all-time favorite songs of his. Both the lyrics and the sound of this song are as timeless today as when JH penned it many years ago. Something in this song really strikes a chord in me. Perhaps it's the fact that we all tend to put on a good front for the world and get caught up in playing our little roles? I heard Justin sing this song live recently and I have to say the man's voice sounds just as good as it did way back when. He truly is a gifted singer, guitarist and performer.
Well, I guess I'm just about through telling y'all (I'm from the South, after all) about my favorite songs from ISOTLC. I hope this "review" makes someone want to go and listen to these songs (or the entire album) anew- or better yet- hear them for the very first time. Either way, I do hope you enjoy!

Five albums into Son Volt's career--and a pair into the band's rebirth following leader Jay Farrar's several solo ventures--it's time to bury the encumbering "alt-country" moniker that has dogged Farrar since his days in the genre-setting Uncle Tupelo. While the inexhaustible songwriter relied on guitars to drive 2005's rock-heavy Okemah and the Melody of Riot, Son Volt amends its familiar arrangements on The Search, balancing the instrumentation with piano, organ, and dabbles in a horn section. "Feels like drivin' 'round in a slow hearse," Farrar pleads over repetitive piano and East Indian guitar loops in "Slow Hearse." It's a pensive opener that suggests something is askew, but the horns that kick off "The Picture" literally scream it from the Stax vaults. Farrar dives in and out of genres, tingling the ivories to add subtle alterations to both the gorgeous "Underground Dream" and Imagine-like "Adrenaline and Heresy," turning his band into Gang of Four for the 134-second rocker "Satellite" and singing alongside Shannon McNally on the soulful "Highways and Cigarettes." While it may be impossible for this Son Volt to ever reach the pinnacle of their 1995 debut, no one can accuse Jay Farrar of going through the motions. --Scott HolterCustomer Reviews:
Farrar bares his influences........2007-07-10
Appalling.......2007-06-27
It's been ntoed that there's a Farrar camp and a Tweedy camp. I never cared much for Tweedy - but you gotta admit, the guy does try to push the envelope and consistently sets what we capitalists call "stretch targets." Not so Jay, who since the brilliance of Trace seems resolved to produce the same lame album over and over again. That his fans find some deep aesthetic purpose therein speaks less of their delusion than how great a record Trace was: certainly someone who threw this thinderbolt can make lightening strike at least once more time. But it's not to be, and will never. Proof? Quick, hum something from Straightaways or Wide String Tremolo. Or Sebastopol. That's right, you can't, can you? Nor would you want to, if you could. Or nor could you, if you wanted: there's nothing hummable.
Alas, it ain't to be. Jay had one good record in him, that was Trace, and we shall never see its like again. I am starting to believe that his "brilliance" in Tupelo was the result of good old capitalism competitoin with Tweedy, who modest though his talent may be, does make excellent use of it. Jay, unmoored from his old Belleville pal, reveals himself as a lazy, pompus slacker, the sort of boring nut you see journaling in independent coffee houses with a copy of some Said or Chomsky trash under his elbow. The brilliance of Trace, in retrospect, is starting to strike me as dervived less from a spark of the divine within Farrar than the principle that if a monkey sits at a typewriter long enough, he'll produce Shakespeare. By some weird change of evolution and chance, it happened early for Farrar.
Two stars because no mmatter how wretched Jay is, at least he's not Ryan Adams.
Good album, but buy it on ITunes.......2007-06-18
Jay's Gob Iron album, released a few months earlier, is slightly better than The Search.
A Beautiful Progression for Jay Farrar.......2007-05-25
As a lyricist, Farrar was never one to reveal himself recklessly, but I notice a few shifts in his methods here that aid in conveying his expressive side. First, the lyrics are more poetic than usual, which does not necessarily mean that they are opaque. Depending on the song, Farrar's words veer from the oblique to the direct and literal. For example, on "Action," he sings, "Break up the old drug pound story, Tortured soul wears an ego sleeve. Heavy hearts and heavy hitters, Bards disease finds the killing floor." These words might not ever mean anything literal to me, but they conjure up rich imagery, while the melody deepens their impact. Elsewhere, on "Adrenaline and Heresy," Farrar sings "She said I still love you, I don't know if I want to spend the rest of my time with you," which is as direct a statement as can be made about a failing relationship. Farrar sings these words with a striking sense of resignation that resounds long after the song ends. "Highways and Cigarettes" is also full of literal imagery ("Best to clear the mind with a Mexicali radio station. Keep an eye out for the border patrol, checking for drugs and so called aliens." He's still very self-serious, but the wordy phraseology and energized interplay of the new band adds an element of fun that had been lacking on previous Son Volt projects.
These words might not resound on the page, but "The Search" benefits immensely from Farrar's melodic sense, which appears to have grown suddenly, and significantly. He is no longer limited by the ideas on his palette, and all sorts of textures help the listener to retain interest. A horn section spices up the high-energy romp of `The Picture," while tasteful keyboards add flavor throughout. Interestingly, there also seems to be an abundance of backward-looped guitars to add a spooky, otherworldly feel to songs such as "Slow Hearse" and "Phosphate Skin." It may take some patience to realize it for yourself, but "The Search" is a beautifully constructed work and I'm finally able to say with some certainty that Jay Farrar and Son Volt have created a minor masterpiece. A Tom Ryan
Strong diverse outing for Jay & Co........2007-05-01
After listening for myself, I'd have to to call the new direction more of an enhancement than a departure. The traditional elements of a Son Volt record are still here -- great songs and melodies, sorrowful pedal-steel guitar, some inscrutable social commentary lyrics, and a solid dose of Americana.
But this record is somehow more than other SV albums. It has diverse sounds that we haven't heard on SV songs before, like horns and piano, that blend very nicely with their sound. There are rocking tracks, slow burn tracks, and moody introspective tracks. Every song on this record is strong, which is a lot more than I can say for "Okemah". This is an excellent record from start to finish.

Call Off the Search was released in the U.K. in November 2003 to deserved acclaim, alongside countless declarations that this 19-year-old British music school-educated, Russian-born singer is "the next Norah." There are similarities--Melua does work within a jazz/blues idiom, is talented beyond her years, and concentrates more on classics than her own material (ten are covers and two originals). But she's far more of a classic showbiz type singer than the sultry and sophisticated-sounding Jones. On the single "The Closest Thing to Crazy," for instance, Melua's phrasing is pure show tune. But it works for her, as it did for Lena and Liza before. The only weak link resides in a few straightahead blues songs, notably the 12-bar stomp "My Aphrodisiac Is You." Melua has the talent, she just lacks the soul to put oomph into a song that namechecks the Kama Sutra (this is as it should be, of course, as she's a teenager, but the choice of material is suspect nonetheless). Melua is a great torch singer who deserves the spotlight; odds are you'll eagerly await her next album before you're even done listening to this one all the way through. --Mike McGonigalCustomer Reviews:

Trance is about as Dutch as windmills, and more than any other DJ, Tiësto is its ambassador. His highly successful In Search of Sunrise series can claim much of the credit for this, and this fifth installment, Los Angeles, delivers in spades. As ever, the man finds his inspiration in the female voice; from Late Night Alumni's "Empty Streets," which pits a bassline that bounces like Silly Putty against Becky Jean Williams's dreamy vocals, to Karen Overton's dancefloor-destroying cover of Billie Ray Martin's "Your Loving Arms," Tiësto again proves himself a master at driving sets to soaring highs with well-placed siren songs. The second disc finds the Dutchman in more progressive territory, luring in the unsuspecting with Pink Elephant's effervescent "LAX" only to drop the hammer with Alex Stealthy's "Something Is Wrong," a track with a disorienting beat that seems to tumble over itself and a haunting melody that sounds as though it were trapped under ice. Tiësto also shows he hasn't lost his affinity for engaging the listener in a test of wills, as in A Boy Called Joni's vertiginous "Green Astronauts." Like all good mixes, the fifth in the ISoS series is after all a study in contrasts. Ironic, perhaps, that with the title Los Angeles the album makes a compelling case that the trance crown won't be leaving Holland anytime soon. --Brent KallmerCustomer Reviews:

The Complete Piano Music of Scott Joplin.......2007-06-08
Another Performer Rewrites Joplin's Masterpieces.......2007-05-31
Again, to those who believe that concert music is meant to be rewritten by each and every performer I ask, is the same treatment also acceptable for Chopin's and Rachmaninoff's music? Would "Moonlight Sonata" sound better if played at twice the tempo and with a reprise of the first Adagio movement thrown in at the end? Obviously, the answer to these questions is a resounding NO!, so why does one of America's greatest composers get such disrespect?
Interpretation is an integral part of every performance. Adding one's own notes, phrases and chords where none should be is not. Randomly changing the structure of the piece is not. Playing a piece at twice the indicated tempo is not.
One the plus side, the depth of this collection is outstanding. Joplin's lesser known pieces like "Harmony Club Waltz" really shine. The recording is decent in quality, although a bit bassy in places.
While its been stated before, I feel its worth repeating: Buy Joshua Rifkin's performances of Joplin in order to hear how the Master intended his pieces to sound.

Though he's as close to being the quintessential trance DJ as anyone, Tiësto has in the past used his mix records to drop new, sometimes challenging material (e.g., 2003's Nyana). But that's never been what the Sunrise records are about. Like 2004's Olympics-anthem release Parade of the Athletes, the vibe is all-inclusive, overtly positive, and infused with a strong orchestral bent that broadens its appeal. The first disc works up a lather after a lukewarm start, ending strongly with tracks from Gabriel & Dresden and BT ("Force of Gravity," spiffed up with a Tiësto remix). The second disc isn't so shy, though the Ibiza sheen gets a little glossy. If there's one thing this DJ can do, it's convincingly integrate a distinctive vocal ("Silence," anyone?), and his collaboration with Aqualung's Matt Hales on "UR" is no exception. One gets the sense that Sunrise 4 could have been just one disc and still delivered the essential punch--but even though it's a bit bloated, this collection unquestionably has the epic heft for which Tiësto is known and revered. --Matthew CookeCustomer Reviews:

The best ISOS album!.......2006-03-02
This album is great. For those that heard this and know anything about skills in mixing and in making a good mix knows that this should be on your hall of fame.
I don't like my music with vocals when I listen to trance.
I like my trance with great beats (Tranceport, Voyage Into Trance)
So I consider trance with vocals "gay music" cause mostly those female vocals be killing the originality of trance.
But this is just great, even though a lot of female vocals are here, I still love this. He also does a good job on switching from trance-only to trance-vocals.
All these songs easily can get a 5 out of 5 or up(except for the one of Calling Your Name).
YOU REALLY WILL BE LEFT IN SEARCH OF SUNRISE after this album ends. I like listening to this album when the sun rises and/or sets.
With a great blend of vocals and trance maybe people that listen to (pop, dance, and R&B) will want to listen to some actual trance.
Verdict: 7.5 out of 5.0 Its sooo good you need to get its A LOT better than the other 3 ISOS he has made. He really changed the way of my thoughts about "gay music". Well this is simply a must get!! What The Hell(WTH) you doing reading this review! Go buy it in stores! NOW!
P.S. This is still consider "gay music" to me but I really love it.
Classic Masterpiece.......2006-01-22
The genious in tiesto's music lies in the way it is layered and in the progression. If one is to listen carefully, it is noticable how the music follows a consistent up down up down approach. This kind of stucture is unique in that it takes the listener through musical highs and lows in such a way that it is completely hypnotic.
There have been many times where i would be dead focused on his music forgetting about the outside world. Yes its that good. Tiestos work is actually so good, that people are able to listen to his cds over and over and never get bored of them since the more you listen to them, the more you hear things you did not hear the previous time. I have already listened to all of the ISOS and magik series over 10 times each and its still not played out.
So far only Armin Van Buuren has been able to come close to the perfection that tiesto has achieved. If only tiesto's newer work posessed such beauty.

Packed with Big Ideas about the future of mankind and dispatched with a distant, often icy veneer, Steven Spielberg's Artificial Intelligence can scarcely camouflage its roots. It was begun by the late Stanley Kubrick in the mid-'80s; Spielberg collaborated briefly a decade later, bowed out, then inherited it upon Kubrick's death in '99. And while the late auteur's cold vision seems largely intact (if now infused with Spielberg's enduring Pinocchio fetish), it's safe to say that Kubrick's often challenging musical tastes would probably not have led him to composer John Williams's doorstep. Nonetheless, the acclaimed veteran again rises to the occasion, ably demonstrating that he's hardly been indifferent to 20-odd-years of minimalism and postmodernism and that, as always, the best film music is often a subtly crafted pastiche of sensibilities and styles. Setting the tone of the film's robotically enhanced not-so-distant future, "The Mecha World" crackles and glistens with Steve Reich's rhythmic urgency and John Adams's dense coloration, while "Abandoned in the Woods," "Hide and Seek," and "Rouge City" succeed by setting Williams's more traditional sense of melody against Phillip Glass's hypnotic arpeggios. There's also a sense that the composer has craftily evoked the ghost of Kubrick music past and 2001 in particular; "Replicas" and "Stored Memories" bring to mind Ligeti, while the mournful strings of "Cybertronics" seem a ghostly echo of Khachaturian's "Gayane Ballet Suite." David Foster's ballad "For Always" (in a solo rendition by Lara Fabian and a duet between Fabian and Josh Groban) seems twice-included strictly to enhance the album's radio allure. Completists should also note that Ministry's dark contribution to the film's Flesh Fair sequence, "What About Us?" is not included on this soundtrack, but is available on their Greatest Fits compilation. Arguably Williams's most musically adventurous score since his landmark Close Encounters, A.I. should take its place among the most distinctive of the composer's long and bounteous collaboration with Spielberg. --Jerry McCulleyCustomer Reviews:
The music is masterfully composed with wit, majesty, and soul.......2006-06-19
Beautiful .......2006-02-20
I would definately say this is one of his best. It reminds me of some of the other Spielberg collaboration scores. Mainly, Empire of the Sun, and War of the Worlds. Lots of the score is wonderful emotional underscoring. It's very complex, and full of interesting scales and keys. Of course, there is plenty of gorgeous thematic material to make the score complete. Honestly, I have never heard a bad John Williams score. Come to think of it, I've never heard one that was less than brilliant and amazing. Really, give this a listen.

John Williams does his best Minimalist Impersonation with Fine Results.......2006-02-05
Of course Williams, just like Steven Spielberg, can't help but pour on the schmaltz once in a while. The main theme of the film is the one used for the song " For Always ". When this music is played by piano and orchestra it's quite beautiful. When the soprano Barbara Bonney sings it with wordless vocals, it's very evocative of the mood in the film. HOWEVER, I have no idea what John Williams was thinking when he basically turns this beautiful, simple theme into a corny pop song. Oh wait, I know exactly what he was thinking, he was trying to generate a pop hit! Ugh. When Lara Fabian sings " For Always " on track 5, you grind your teeth and barely make it through. When on track 13, Lara Fabian is joined by Josh Groban for a duet version of the same song, it becomes intolerable schmaltz at it's worst.
So yes, there is much satisfying work here by everyone's most lovable film composer John Williams, just don't listen to tracks 5 and 13 so your musical sensibilities won't be irreparably damaged!
The last word from me, A.I., terrific soundtrack that rivals Williams' best, sayonara!
Will one day be considered among the best he's written.......2005-12-29
This score by John Williams will one day be considered among the best he's written. Highly underrated, yet greatly poignant.
I agree with other reviewers who have warned that this is not in the Star Wars / Indiana Jones vein. If you're looking for big, bombastic symphonic music, look elsewhere. This is very sentimental, but beautifully done music. It demonstrates John Williams' talent for matching the music to the film's intention. As his resume' demonstrates, John Williams can write music for just about every film, including a misunderstood "Spielberg/Kubrick" collaboration.
"The Reunion" (final track) is one of the best tracks of orchestra/piano music ever written. The lullaby-like song is the same melody as was used in "For Always," and it is achingly beautiful.
Appropriately, this final track is played in the film while David being (finally) reunited with his "mother."
Almost Impeccable.......2004-04-26
Several tracks stand out in this masterpiece. The twin versions of "For Always," one featuring Lara Fabian and the other featuring Josh Groban in a duet with Ms. Fabian are wonderfully pure. In solo form, Lara's voice is wonderfully smooth and has a subtle almost untrained quality that lends a genuineness to her singing. In the duet, Mr. Groban's silky smooth baritone perfectly offsets Lara's clear soprano. The penultimate song, titled "The Reunion" is a stunning, gorgeous lullaby of a piece that features a plaintive, almost childish piano theme. The simplicity is subtlely complex as the theme winds through an entire emotional range, from triumphant happiness to simple joy to black despair, and finally back into an almost heartbreaking lullaby.
Mr. Williams has displayed a wide variety of musical styles in this soundtrack. For fans of his that are desiring a "Star Wars" fanfare and overpowering orchestral pieces, this soundtrack is not for you. I personally prefer this collection to most of his other works.

The Best ISOS.......2007-04-25
After several years of listening to this CD, it still sounds as fresh as it did the day I first purchased it. Tracks like TastExperience, Summerbreeze, Eugina, and Delirio just fit so well into what I believe is his best effort in the ISOS series.

The Successor To The Greatest Trance Mix Of All Time.......2006-06-16
The album art is awesome. The movie poster concept is clever. Tiësto has a great marketing team.
As for the mix, I've found that it helps to divide DJ Tiësto's compilations into movements, because I'm sure he does. Some songs aren't meant to take you over the top. Some are. Some songs work together to build tension for a powerful, explosive song approaching. Some songs are powerful and explosive. Tiësto knows how to use different types of trance songs to create a mix that is HIS. He is a master at this.
The first movement is fantastic. It begins ethereal and dreamy, and through the first three tracks there is a brooding feeling.
Tastexperience by Tantrix is an excellent introduction to the mix. It represents the style and mood of the In Search Of Sunrise (ISOS) series. It has the island feel Tiësto is revered for. As it fades out and LN Movement's Golden Desert (Part 2) is revealed explosively, feelings of nostalgia for the first ISOS are evoked. At this point I am impressed. This is what I expect after the first ISOS. This is a summer mix. Once Kamaya Painter's Summerbreeze comes on, it's obvious that the first two tracks are only a build. Summerbreeze is beautiful. I have to give it up for Kamaya Painters on this track, which means I am actually praising Tiësto and Benno De Goeij, who together ARE Kamaya Painters. The melodies here are precisely what make great trance. The build, the clashes, the keys... this is the trance that I love. So far, the mixing is flawless. At the end of the first movement, the mix seems to transform from trance to house. Vocals are introduced. Rui Da Silva's Touch Me is a good track with a melody that allows it to mix well with this compilation, but it's not a great song. The vocals and lyrics are mediocre. I expect only the best from the ISOS series. This is good, but not Tiësto good. I did, however, smile when thinking about the song placement in comparison to the first ISOS; this song is similar to Billie Ray Martin's Honey, which is track three on that mix. Anyway, Touch Me made me skeptical. The mix seems to be going somewhere, then Tiësto takes a detour with Touch Me. Why? I don't know
As touch me ends the mixing gets heavy and dramatic I realize I'm being swept into the second movement. The Michael Woods mix of Eugina by Salt Tank scraps the previous song and takes the mix right back to where it belongs. This is amazing trance song! Echoing snares, soaring vocals, the ebb and flow of dense subterranean techno melodies... YES! I'd like to shake Michael Woods' hand. The mix into Cass & Slide's Perception is heavy like the last mix, and I dig the style. Tiësto cautiously mixed the songs through the first movement, but in the second movement he takes over and charges ahead boldly. Perception comes in, hits a break, and the game continues. You have to love the robotic sounds on this track. The bass line on this track is deep, even for trance. The song tricks you... you think it's going one way, then another break comes and in the vocals drop. Wow. Here is another beautiful vocal trance song. "Search and you will find the answer... if you look deep inside of your mind... you can see forever... rise up together." Now that is dance floor ecstasy. Perception ends almost abruptly and in drops Mekka's Diamondback. The vocal trance delight continues. This song is insane. Take a drive on a country road and listen to this song as loud as you can for an amazing experience. Lucid's mix of BT's Dreaming comes on next and the texture of the mix is changed again. The sound effects here are awesome. The ticking clock, the panning, the creaking doors, the chimes: I love this song. Tiësto knows how to compile great vocal trance songs like no other. With this song the second movement is ending...
And with the Venus Mix of Baracoa's Delirio the third movement blooms. This song... man... this song gives me goosebumps. The build is like no other. This is deep trance. This is a classic. Songs like this are what give the ISOS series it's enigmatic quality. You might as well just burn the house down for this one. The vocals are intoxicating. Delirio takes me away. At this point I'm sold on the mix. The next track is a remix of Fortress's An Angel Saved My Life. The sounds here remind me of Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport. The trance here is hard, heavy, and dense. It's good, but it's one of my least favorite tracks on the album. It gets serious quick, but there is no distinct build. It does however, mix superbly with the Marc O' Tool Remix of Ballroom's 4 AM, which I think is the reason why Tiësto used it. Ballroom is a cool song, but it doesn't have the power of the previous songs on the mix. It does have a unique style that makes this ISOS mix even more eclectic. As Coast 2 Coast's Home comes on, I understand the purpose of the previous two tracks. Tiësto was building. This is why I like to group his mixes into movements. Home is another great track because of its uplifting melody and its quick build to an all-business breakdown.
The business continues right into Slacker's Kingdom Come Mix of Breeder's Tyrantanic without a breath of air to relax. Then... BOOM! The beat drops and there is silence. The fourth and final movement is crowded, dense, heavy, busy, and every other adjective you can think of that is opposite of free and airy. Tiësto ends his mix with pure progressive trance. The builds aren't epic and sudden. They're constant and relentless. The beat just keeps going. The breaks don't even feel like breaks. The vocals are gone. This all describes Max Graham's Airtight, and the title fits perfectly. Tiësto suffocates you in the last movement. I just know that I can't stop bobbing my head. The song takes you higher and higher and higher and higher... then proceeds to the most elaborate breakdown of the entire mix. It doesn't send you away in the ecstatic build-explode-jump off way that trance typically does. It doesn't make you feel like you just got off like never before. It doesn't take you away with heavenly vocals and melodies.
It leaves you in a trance.
DJ Tiësto has done it again. He has left me In Search Of Sunrise.
awesome trance cd..........2006-06-11
The best of In Search of a Sunrise series.......2006-05-01
Please note that this album is different from Tiesto's live sets and his other "hands in the air trance" compilations. ISOS 2 is a lot more mellow(though does get harder towards the end), and is much better suited as background music for your pre and after-party sessions.
Overall, a really awesome compilation.
