Product Description
'Bare Naked' was co-written by Jennifer and acclaimed singer/songwriter Meredith Brooks. 'Bare Naked' is the first single to be lifted from the 2002 album of the same name. Love Hewitt's maturity over the current crop of female singer/songwriters is obvious - she is in a world apart from the other girls - BILLBOARD MAGAZINE. The Album Version and Radio Edit are backed with 'First Time' & 'Rock The Roll'. The initial pressing also includes a bonus poster.

Album Description
This release takes the spirit of music Bettie Serveert has made in the past and colors it with even more appealing sounds than last year's stellar "Attagirl" (the title which introduced the band to an entirely new audience of fans thanks to prominent exposure on "The O.C." and "One Tree Hill". As the title implies, this record has the band back to their basics best. Stripped down electric songs with Peter Visser's guitar work driving things forward and Carol Van Dyk's unmistakable vocals rich in indelible imagery. Twelve new tracks plus a 79-minute DVD with eleven live songs spanning the band's career, including video footage from the album's recording session, a road film from their 2005 US tour, a photo gallery, and a music video Easter egg.

A Gem From An Underrated Band.......2007-03-07
Who is Bettie Serveert? I'm surely not the only one to ask that question when stumbling upon this band. If you don't know the answer to that question, then you don't know what you're missing and you need to buy this CD/DVD. If you do know the answer, then what are you waiting for?? Buy this disc now! I really enjoy the sound of this band--from Carol van Dyk's vocals to Peter Visser's guitar work, Bettie Serveert is a great listen. I can't wait for them to tour the U.S., because judging by the DVD (included with the CD), it would be one very enjoyable night out. This band is way underrated and underappreciated. You shouldn't pass up the opportunity to add a quality band to your collection. BTW, I also only recently bought Palomine, which I also like very much (its harder edge adds a nice contrast in sound to the mellower sounds on Bare Stripped Naked), and am adding Attagirl to my collection. Who is Bettie Serveert? A band that deserves far greater recongition--even if it only comes one Amazon customer at a time.
THE BEST YET from a killer band - Bettie serves indeed!.......2006-10-04
ok. I admit that since their 1st album this has been one of my favourite bands, with some albums moving me more than others, as is only natural. But my desert island bettie serveert would now begin here. On a lot of levels it's simply more refined, and the acoustic underpinnings allow the songwriting to shine through on every cut. "Brain Tag" was brilliant the first time they recorded it, and remains so in this mellower setting.
If bettie serveert albums were bottles of wine I would say they were all good years, if recent, while this one has matured beyond it's years and become an almost miraculous vintage. These folks are producing music that is comfortably at the level of their heroes (yes, it's true). They are not in business to hide what's inspired them, but any obvious lineage is taken to a place that is very much their own. Reviewers who think this is just a light weight but enjoyable band are wildly missing the mark.
All the guitar work on the album is just beautiful, including some very fine bass playing that sweetens the pot considerably.
If bands were vacuum tubes I'd say Bettie Serveert had joined the ranks of Mullard, Amperex and Telefunkin - primo new old stock! I thought of that because sonically the cd is gorgeous - it's so good that I'm using it while auditioning headphone amplifiers. Dare I hope for vinyl...?

I recently saw these guys at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and they stole the show. They all have a great attitude on stage and there harp/keyboardist is awesome.
This album is well worth the price. Not a bad track on the cd. I would have rated it a 5 except that they don't sound as exceptional pre-recorded as they do live. If you like celtic/Irish type music as I do this will fit right in with your favorites.

Album Description
Gaia Circles, Gaia Consort's debut CD takes "Pagan Music" out of the "Ren Faire" genre and celebrates the cycles of the Earth in a contemporary context. Gaia Consort mixes rock, jazz and acoustic music into a seriously upbeat and listeneable combination.
Customer Reviews:
Beautiful, thoughful music with a message.......2002-10-06
It's really unfortunate that so few people on the East Coast know about Gaia Consort. Chris Bingham and crew are truly wonderful, talented artists who live and sing what they 'believe'.
The songs have their roots in earth-based spirituality, but you don't have to be a pagan to appreciate the music *or* the message.
'Just Because' and 'The Rede' are wonderful affirmations for free-spirited types; 'The Old Ones' is wistful but oddly cathartic'; 'Move to the Country' echoes all of my utopian dreams... I *love* this music!
Celebrate Life!.......2001-10-18
This is a terrific album. It makes me think,
it makes me dance, it makes me smile.
Move To The Country is a nice utopian vison;
Crossroads Devil is a wake-up call; An It
Harm None is an affirmation.
Gaia Consort at its best!.......2001-10-06
This is a fabulous album by extremely talented musicians - I can't say enough good things about Christopher Bingham. This CD was my introduction to Gaia Consort, and while I have all the rest of them, as well, it's the one I play the most. Christopher and the gang show wonderful versatility and skill, and boy, can you EVER tell they have fun when they play. There are a lot of non-Christian, alternative-religion bands out there, but none like Gaia Consort in my opinion. I highly recommend this CD to you!

Mr. Naked (to us fans) is missed!.......2007-05-01
I can't count the number of times I saw Buck Naked live. This CD is the only relic left of the Mr. Naked experience. The music was nothing compared to the vision of a grown man wearing a plunger, rubber chicken (look at one, you'll get it) or an animal nose mask. He had the courage to play "The I Beam" club on Haight street on [....] night. The ladies snarled and the guys just laughed the entire night. Read the song titles, you'll see why. There must be a video out there somewhere. Watch a Primus video and you might see a picture of Buck, or his old bass drum head. This is a representation of a true club band. Take it for what it is...and laugh.
Hilarious.......2006-04-10
This album is absolutely rediculous, however, it is also surprisingly good. The lyrics are gross, but also hilarious, and the music is pretty good rockibilly. If you take them seriously, they're terrible, but they're not meant to be taken seriously; I mean, all they wear on stage is plundgers and pink cowboy boots! Plus, they labeled themselves pornobilly, so you should know what its gonna be like going in. It is lewd, gross, obscene, and freakin hilarious. So definately buy this album if thats your kind of humor.
Like Mojo Nixon's Dumber Brother.......2003-04-12
If I remember my local news correctly, a few years ago Buck Naked was murdered in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. Well, no disrespect intended, but for the sake of trying to protect Amazon readers from wasting their money, I must report that his lone album is terrible. Buck's band played utterly ordinary bar band rock 'n' roll, and there are a thousand unsigned bands that do it a lot better. Buck was no geat shakes as a singer, either, but he had a gimmick, and that's what got him the deal to make his record. He played in the nude, save for a toilet plunger covering his manhood. And his lyrics were loaded with the sort of bathroom humor that you might expect from a naked rock 'n' roller. In the hands of someone with wit and intelligence and a sharp sense of humor, someone like Mojo Nixon for example, this could work. Unfortunately, this CD gives no evidence that Mr. Naked possessed the necessary cleverness to pull it off. So instead, you just get inane songs filled with unfunny references to genitalia, enemas, taboo sex practices, etc. Don't waste your money.
Surprisingly good.......2002-10-13
Very entertaining (and explicit) lyrics with surprisingly good rockabilly style music.

naked music can do no wrong............2001-06-04
as every true house head can tell you, naked music, the hot label out of san fran is producing some of the grooviest, soulful house in america today.this album "bare essentials" is a collection of different remixes of tracks from their series "nude dimensions volumes 1 and 2",and all are really great.you don't even mind (or even recognize for that matter) that some of the tracks are repeated, but they're remixed so well that each one can easily stand on it's own.if i had one gripe,it would be that the cd isn't continuously mixed. i,as well as countless house heads, are anxiously awaiting naked music's next release.word 'em up.
Just add Courvoisier!.......2001-05-31
I'm sure The Ladies' Man owns all of the Naked Music CDs, and its easy to see why. Every track carries the spirit of deep soulful house music without a trace of polyester or sleaze! Folks, this ain't no "French Kiss;" it's smooth, soulful, and transcending. Imagine yourself in a penthouse high above Manhattan, dancing with that special someone--this is the soundtrack!
"Bare Essentials" is basically a package of Naked Music hits from 1999; many of which can be found on Miguel Mig's spectular "Nude Dimensions V.1," compilation. Highlights for me were the deep and jazzy "Breakin' It Down," and the absolutely sensual "Music and Wine." Half of the tracks on this 70+ minute disc are originals, and the others are all remixes of those same songs. I recommend tracking down the 12" singles of these tracks; they fit the warmth of vinyl grooves like a glove. And unlike a lot of deep house music, this also works beautifully in a home, rather than club setting.
Hot summer nights out dancing, cozy winter evenings by the firelight dancing...there's no amorous occasion that wouldn't require at least a few Bare Essentials.
True.......2001-02-23
To all listeners of house music out there. Trust me this CD you'll never forget the sounds that are emitted are the finest whether you're listening to a remix of Blue Six's Music & Wine or not. You can tell by listening to each and every track that this was well put together by people who truly dig their own sound: The Naked Music Sound. I've been listening to house since "91", and you know when your in the club, or at home just kickin it to the hard beats and strong rhythms. Well after hours and hours of listening to that you just wanna kick back and relax, maybe sip a cup of Crown or Alize' I'm tellin you this is the CD-Naked's Bare Essentials Vol. 1 and I totally recommend Blue Six's Pure-the last song on the album....Nuff Said
Good collection, if a little redundant.......2001-01-06
Enough of the songs on this CD appear on the "... Dimensions Vol. 1" compilation (with more tracks to boot) that you should actually bypass this CD for the other on dollar value alone, despite the fact that it has some of the freshest house music that's been released in a long time. If, however, you are one of those people who simply must collect everything, get it for the remixes of the stuff that stood out on the "Nude Dimensions 1" disc. There's enough to make it, not a bad purchase, but an unnecessary one in light of it's superior.
Just add Courvoisier!.......2000-11-22
I'm sure the 'Ladies' Man,' Leon Phelps owns all of the Naked Music CDs. This little label has got it down to a formula. Every tune carries the spirit of 70s disco/house without a trace of polyester or sleaze. "Bare Essentials" is just the sexiest house you've heard in a long time! Folks, this ain't no "French Kiss," it's smooth, soulful and transcending.
Imagine yourself in a penthouse high above New York City dancing for hours with that special someone...this is the soundtrack! It's urban, uplifting, chic, classy, smooth, sexy...there's really no other way to describe it. And in a time where MP3 and web-music threatens the album as an artistic object, Naked Music brings back arty packaging! Notably, it's worth tracking down the vinyl singles of these cuts; they fit the warmth of vinyl grooves like a glove.
Hot summer parties, cozy winter evenings by the fireplace dancing...there's no amorous occasion that wouldn't require at least a few Bare Essentials.

Album Description
"Prove Yourself" is the first full-length CD from Chance Gardener. This up-and-coming DC-Annapolis combo, who've been burning through the DC indie-club scene, is acoustic-electric power pop at its best. Armed with a growing satchel of new, melodic and `radio friendly' songs, the four musicians of Chance Gardener enthusiastically sing and play their music, conveying universal themes, observations and solutions. Their music is acoustic-based rock/pop, but with raw electric elements; it is driving and forceful, but doesn't pound the listener into submission; it is honest and personal, yet catchy and accessible
Customer Reviews:
A brilliant slice of melodic pop rock!.......2004-06-10
These guys are good! With the band name based on a particularly relevant and excellent film character (Chance from "Being There"), these guys serve up songs with great hooks and thought-provoking lyrics. It's a crime that more don't know of these guys; everyone should! We look for more form these guys. Check out our website: www.chancegardener.com.
Chance Scores Again!.......2001-01-26
Well folks I've been a big fan of Chance Gardener for quite a while now. It all started over a year ago when Bob Sima (one of their lead singers) asked me to review `Wherever You Go'. Instantly I knew that I'd found something wonderful. Here was a song that was raw and powerful with beautiful execution. Better still, after listening to `Save Me', `The Letting Go' and `Continue' I discovered that they had depth in their ranks. Yep, they have a real knack at producing radio ready, highly accessible songs with deep and insightful lyrics. And they do it time and time again. So it's no surprise then that `The Smaller She Gets', fresh out of the Chance Gardener music bakery is indeed all of that and more. `The Smaller She Gets' is about a young girl who is supposed to make her fathers day. She doesn't make the cut, her father makes her feel guilty and hence - the smaller she gets. Lines such as: "You should be ashamed you haven't made my day" really grab at your heart. To me in many ways this song marks a new height for Chance. Any problems that I had back in 2000 have been fixed. Bob's vocals are incredible, the recording is warm and the band is as tight as tight can be. I'd be hard pressed to find a single thing wrong with it. So where are Chance going from here? Well, if you're a local to the Baltimore, Washington DC area then I'd expect you'll be hearing them on your radio pretty soon... that's if you haven't already. Beyond that it's hard to tell but my fingers are crossed that they'll someday be able to make an Australian tour. This tune and indeed their whole repertoire are worthy in anyone's collection. If you haven't yet made yourself familiar with Chance Gardener then do it, and do it now. Then buy their cd. You can find out details from their home website....
Great new sound!.......2000-11-03
These guys are great! I've followed them for several years in the D.C. area, and if you haven't seen them, get out and go. Their sound is fresh and lively, and you will find yourself humming the tunes long after you listen to the disc or see them live.
Pleasant and tasteful acoustic-driven pop/rock........2000-11-03
Chance Gardener may never play the big arenas, but they deserve a listen. This music isn't seeped in the violence and angst that impassions angry teenagers, and it isn't that slick, commercial, generic dance beat that saturates VH1 video and never seems to go away. This is pleasant songwriting, strong vocal work and solid, tasteful musicianship. It's somewhere between the Baby Boom and the X generation; resolved and satisfied, but maybe with a little longing for something more. Songs like "Prove Yourself," "Save Me" and "Wherever You Go" show a maturity, but with a slightly whistful little plea for a sane relationship in a turbulent world. Intelligent stuff. What's next, guys?
...and not just because I know the band!.......2000-11-03
Very nice, upbeat acoustic-based pop. They're not going to be playing the big arenas any time soon, mostly because the songs aren't going to resonate with the dark angst of the typical angry teenager. But for settled and stable gen-xers approaching middle-age, or boomers who still keep up with the music scene, it's pleasant songwriting, strong vocals and tasteful musicianship.

Album Description
Secret Voices is Gaia Consort's second release, and is an interesting step forward for their songwriter Christopher Bingham. Secret Voices rocks a little more and mixes some classic string quartet arrangements with African rhythms. The lyric imagery is drawn from the cycles of nature. Pagans, Gaians and Freethinkers get the music right away. Excellent musicianship has some listeners calling Gaia Consort a "jam band" but the music strikes a solid balance between solos and composed sections.
Customer Reviews:
Magnificent Pagan Songsmiths!.......2001-10-22
I first heard these artists live prior to the release of the CD before this (Gaia Circles). They have thoughtful lyrics, great guitar work and are just plain astounding! In Secret Voices, the group advances their talents in all areas, and melds into a more synchronized group. If you like your ecological commentary and celebration of nature wrapped in a delicious tortilla of harmonies, this is the burrito for you! You do not have to be Pagan or Polyamorous to enjoy this CD, but if you are, you will probably love it all the more. Gaia Consort's message of "Do as you will, an' it harm none" is one that any open-minded people will appreciate. Their pulsing folk-rock rhythms will make you want to caper merrily. Enjoy!
Secret Voices Rocks!.......2001-10-18
In concert, Chris has said that the title track
(Secret Voices) is based on a time he lived near
auto row in Lake City. All he'd hear is traffic,
banging, trucks, and other noise...and then he'd
hear a bird. Or see the moon. Nature is alive.
This album is about learning to look & listen.
I've been listening to many of these songs at
concerts for over a year. Beltane Fires is
my favorite song (but then, I was born on
Beltane Eve :)
Three is a lovely, lyric love song. Every
Sacred Thing asks some good questions
about our society. I think that's a big
reason why I like this music: the lyrics
make me think, and the melody makes me move :)
I would encourage everyone to order this
CD and enjoy the music. (No, you don't have
to be Pagan!)
