1 out of 5 stars AVOID THIS BOOTLEG - IT SOUNDS TERRIBLE.......2004-12-30

This CD is an illegal bootleg on an outlaw label from a source outside of the U.S. All of the Carpenters master recordings are controlled by Universal Music, which now owns A&M Records. This CD is made from scratchy records and has terrible artwork as well. This is not an authorized release. You need to buy the original Carpenters "Horizon" album for the proper source on most of these songs plus one of the Greatest Hits collection. This CD is total junk and should not be purchased under any circumstances. Beware!

1 out of 5 stars It would mean nothing if it wasn't so bad........2003-01-13

This CD is the less serious manufactered item I've ever heard in my whole life, it sounds like some kind of joke (an evil one).
Believe what I say: tracks 1 - 10 contains VYNIL SCRATCHES! They were not digitalized or whatever it's called, it's like you're listening to a HOME TAPE RECORDED FROM THE VYNIL DISC, just like that. Not remastered, I'd say not MASTERED at all.
Track 11 sounds good, even louder than those before.
Tracks 12 - 14 are bad sound, much lower than 1 - 11.
So, this is like a HOME CD or a BAD BOOTLEG.
Don't get it, please.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good.......2006-07-11

This cd isn't the best. But isnt the worst. If you like The Mavelettes older songs then you will love this album, If you like the newer 1965 and up, this album wouldnt show much interest to you. The songs are:
W = Wanda, G = Gladys
1.Angel(W) Wanda feels love for a guy, but he loves someone else, to her he is an Angel.
2.I Want A Guy(W) Wanda wants a guy! Not like the last whos in the past.
3.Please Mr.Postman(G) Gladys is waiting for her boyfriends letter... to make her feel better!
4.So Long Baby(W) Now Wanda say goodbye to her lover, tell him to git on outa here!
5.I Know How It Feels(W) Hmm, i cant remember this one, i'll have to listen to it again.
6.Way Over There(G) Gladys' love is over the far away but she still loves him.
7.Happy days(G) Gladys broke up with her boyfriend but still in a way loves him, even tho he must go.
8.You Dont Want Me No More(G) This song was probably supposed to follow Please Mr. Postman, She recieves "His" letter and he says, I dont want you no more!
9.All The Love I Got(G) Gladys is going to give her lover all the love shes got.
10.Whisper(W) Wanda wants her lover to whisper sweet things in her ear!
11.Oh I Apologize(G) Gladys says sorry for the way she treated him.
In My rating from best to... well not worst but not the best!

3 out of 5 stars Excellent example of early Motown.......2006-06-17

Motown is of course, known for some turning out some incredible singles. Their albums, however, are notoriously uneven. This album, while not perfect, is one of the better ones, and is a great example of what came out of Hitsville USA in its earliest days, from a very seminal group in Motown's history: their first majorly successful girl group. The best tracks on here are (of course) Please Mr. Postman and Angel: the rest, while decent, aren't really that memorable. Very generic early 60's r&b and doo wop. What really makes this a good album is the usual quality of musicianship displayed by Motown's house band, the Funk Brothers, and the raw, gospel-tinged lead vocals Actually, the vocals are VERY raw for Motown, which didn't fit in with Berry Gordy's vision of pop crossover success with white audiences, which led to the Marvelettes being nearly ignored at the label, while Martha and the Vandellas and later the much squeakier clean Supremes were groomed for pop stardom. All in all, not bad, and essential for any Motown fanatic, but at the prices this cd is going for, I wouldn't recommend it to casual fans. Casual fans would be better off with one of the many compilations out there.

5 out of 5 stars *****To me, THE BEST*****.......2005-08-16

To me this is the best Marvelettes Album ever. I love all the songs, and Im sure you will too. This cd may cost you a pretty penny but its well worth it!. You can get a copy here or bid on one on E-Bay. either way its a good CD. If you have some of these songs on other cds, You'll know that these songs are very good.
