Editorial Reviews

Shake It Up
Inventive arrangements and impressive songwriting

Product Description
The second I See Spots CD takes the band in a quieter direction, with acoustic instruments dominating the sparse, minimalist arrangements. New instruments include a thrift store organ, ukelin (as seen on the Antiques Roadshow), and the bells from inside an old telephone, but the oblique lyrics and subtly insinuating tunefulness are still in abundant supply.

5 out of 5 stars Recalls the best of 1980s college pop.......2001-12-09

This second disc from Arlington, VA songsters I See Spots is a softer, almost folky outing, compared to their first, "Word Order." Still, their main influences seem to be Guadalcanal Diary, REM, and the Feelies. Tight melodies, heartfelt singing, and even a nice acoustic instrumental that reminds me of Uncle Tupelo's acoustic masterpiece March 16-20, 1992. Singer Sean O'Brien and guitarrist Joel Rosenquist showcase the personal side of indie pop. Not to be missed.

I downloaded a few songs from this disk, and have been listening to them for about a month. I really enjoy them. They're excellent and deserve serious attention.
