Joey McIntyre is having an identity crisis. He's no longer a boy-band balladeer, and he wants the music industry to know that he's grown up. At the same time, he knows that his most likely audience is watching "Total Request Live" on MTV every afternoon. His attempt to impress both groups fails with the misguided Meet Joe Mac. The album is a hodgepodge of musical styles and influences. The first single, "Rain," is a mid-tempo inspirational ballad that smells distinctly of matchbox twenty's reject pile. "If I Run into You" is a terrible Green Day rip-off. "The National Anthem of Love" has the simplest lyrics this side of "Happy Birthday" (and is only slightly more tuneful). Even more appalling, McIntyre actually raps in the amateurish "NYC Girls." The only track that belongs on this disc is "Easier," an Elton John-esque love song that really exploits the power of McIntyre's voice. Not Like Stay the Same.......2005-08-02

I thought Joe's first album was great. I loved it. But he changed the way he sang on this album. I don't know why singers think they have to change the way the sing. That's why I only gave it 1 star. He can do alot better. Don't get me wrong.I'm still a blockhead through and through. I just didn't like this album.

C'mon Joey Mac, you're better than this.......2005-01-19

I'm a huge NKOTB fan as most people are, but I've had just about enough of Joey's attitude. First, he comes off like an ass when VH1 tried to reunite the band. Evidentally, he thinks he's too big for the rest of the guys. I was willing to see and went out and bought this CD figuring the title implied that this is the one to start with. This CD really isn't what I thought it would be, it sucks. On one hand, you have Danny Wood putting out the best solo album in ten years and on the other you have this. Listening to this disc gives me really bad gas pains similiar to those you get from eating Burger King Onion rings. I don't know if they put real onions in those things, but my lord you'd better not be standing within a zip code of me after I eat about 30 of those puppies. I'll throw out a hush puppy that will sneak up on you and make you wish you hadn't seen Problem Child 2. I remember when Stork tried to light a blue flame after eating some BK rings. He thought using a blowtorch would give it more power, but instead it set his jeans on fire and he has to drop the kids off at a special toilet.

What exactly is the lesson here? If you avoid Joey Mac's solo albums, Burger King onion rings and lighting your jorks on fire you should be a fairly productive citizen. Just buy Danny Wood's cd instead.

I really liked this album. It was much more musically diverse than his first album. You've got everything in here. I'm still looking for him to come up with an album that fully allows "joemac" to display his incredible voice without being overshadowed by the music.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.......2004-01-06

Joe McIntyre has such an incredible voice ... that is the only reason this review got 2 stars. The songs themselves are a huge disappointment. The songs are very badly written and the lyrics often ramble without making a lot of sense. The only saving grace on this album would have to be Rain and Easier and they are still just ok.

I love this cd.......2003-02-25

I was reluctant at first to buy yet another album from the ex-New Kid member. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. I love this album. I especially love "If I Run into You" while not lyrically the best song, it has lots of spirit. "Easier" is really good too, it definately shows you the range Joey has. This definately a step up from his first solo album and I have faith he will continue to grow musically as well. Moral of this story is BUY BUY MEET JOE MAC TODAY especially if your a formal Joe-bird fan (like me)!
