A lot of female vocalists have found their way to fame by playing the familiar role of back up singer, and when the line-up changes they make a solo break. Kathy has started the other way around, with a neat set of introductory pieces from her modern repertoire; she’s realised, for example, how effective it is to do your own harmonising. As such, listeners may be pleasantly surprised by the quality and technical depth of this EP, almost an inspiration to the home studios of today.
There’s also an eerie reflection of current musical diversity within the EP, which shows that Kathy is obviously open to trying new things – is she ready for budding producers to show an interest?… More like, are they ready for her!

Overall, the EP keeps things simple – often the best way to reach out to people, with Kathy’s emotional agenda proving to be thoughtful. Fans of Primal Scream and Morcheeba will enjoy the way Kathy’s rough lullaby can sing along with the blues of modern living, but leaves your mind feeling massaged.
