About the Artist
Ron Feingold is an entertainer/singer/comedian based out of Orlando Florida. He fuses stand-up comedy and a cappella music in a truly unique show. Singing all of the vocals himself-the bass, baritone, tenor, alto and soprano parts including the lead makes Ron Feingold one of the world's only "one man vocal bands." Ron Feingold has been on stage since age 10. He got his musical theatre start in high school portraying roles like Lazar Wolf in "Fiddler on the Roof," Moonface Martin in "Anything Goes," and Curly in the musical "Oklahoma!" Then, at age 17, he began his professional career performing in a melodrama theatre by the name of "Bob Young's Cabaret" located in beautiful Cascade, Colorado. Ron was on top of the world earning $150 a week performing in the show and doing what he loved most!

Ron then moved on to dinner theatre in the summers during his breaks from college at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. There was a distinct trend that he noticed over the years that all of his roles and jobs were mostly comical. So Ron decided to give Stand-up Comedy a try. A contest called the U.S. College Comedy Competition came to Colorado State and Ron signed up. For a first timer, he placed third and he's been hooked on laughs ever since!

While a performer in the dinner theatre, Ron was also working on his other passions. He earned his Private Pilot license at the age of 18. Graduating in the top 10% of his class from Colorado State University with a degree in Psychology, Ron received the academic honor of Phi Beta Kappa! In May of 1999, Ron received his Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling and spent a year as a Guidance Counselor while he worked on his second CD- "Solo Effort." He also loves water and snow skiing, writing poetry and music, and most of all performing his "Comedy A Cappella" show!

Now Ron has toured the entire United States and has performed in America's finest Comedy Clubs, Universities, and Theatres. After doing "straight" stand-up for 5 years, he decided to stir things up a little and bring his love for a cappella music to the comedy clubs. August 1st of 1995, at Tommy T's Comedy Club in San Ramon, California was opening night of the new show and audiences have been laughing and singing with Ron ever since!

Ron's first album was released in June of 1995 and was called One Man A Cappella Jam! Ron began work on his second album on December 30, 1999 with producer Glenn Longacre. Released on January 26, 2001, Solo Effort takes Ron's music to a different level. Currently, Ron is a corporate and cruise ship entertainer residing in Florida and also performs at his favorite comedy clubs around the country. Check out the show because you won't see or hear anything like this anywhere!

Solo Effort was produced by Orlando composer/arranger/producer Glenn Longacre. Glenn and Ron took 14 months to record and mix the album's 11 tracks. An ecclectic collection of songs, Solo Effort starts out with "Oh What a Night!", then moves into a hilarious commercial jingles medley called "A Day in the Life" that contains over 32 commercial jingles. From there it gets into a serious funk, followed by an R & B Medley, a Jim Croce Hits Medley, an Impressions Medley including Nat "King" & Natalie Cole and Kermit the Frog and Joe Cocker, other a cappella favorites and classics, and finally a cut from Phantom of the Opera's "Music of the Night" titled "The Home Depot Song."

This is truly a solo effort and an a cappella production - ALL of the albums vocals and vocal percussion are performed by one guy: Ron Feingold!

Great Gift.......2007-06-20

I just received this CD as a gift. Julianna's voice is sweet and sultry and a pleasure to listen to. I can highly recommend this CD. You might also take a look at the soundtrack to the movie 'Open Range' which she wrote and sang the 'Ending Credits' song for. Many people have bought the soundtrack for that reason alone.

I was turned on to this disc from Julianna's song on the Open Range soundtrack (fantastic!) and had to find out more. After a listen to this CD I was hooked. One of the most talented singer / songwriters I have ever heard. Produced by the just as talented Ethan Johns! What a combination. I hope they do more together.

Ripe, witty, and endlessly playable.......2003-09-08

There is not a bad track on this CD, as far as I'm concerned. It's melodic, eclectic, evocative, and funny, too. Also a bit addictive. Such a rare combination you wonder why you don't get it pressed on you by all your friends. Maybe people didn't know where to file it, because it feels as much jazz as pop. In case that was the problem, I'm writing this review: buy it,--if you like music, you won't regret it.

What an incredible voice and really heartfelt soulful songs. The production is clean and unique. Her writing seems to come from deep within and her approach is bound to catch the eye of the major labels. I play this CD constantly!

Very Enjoyable And From The Heart.......2002-03-04

Into Your Heart is one of the best CD's I've heard in some time. There are no bad tracks, which makes this CD highly enjoyable each time you listen to it. Mick Hucknall of Simply Red once penned that he was 'one of those grains of sand that gets blown all around the world'and that sentiment truly describes the life of all musicians. Tom Schuman has brought his memories of special places and people to Into Your Heart. The CD is masterfully crafted and is garnering rave reviews from all who hear it. Schuman jams.......2002-03-01

It's a rare day when this writer is first in line for anything.
So when I checked an online bulletin board and saw that I was the first person in the USA to order Tom Schuman's new CD on the Internet, it was a great feeling - especially since it was the man himself who posted the message.
An even greater feeling came when I received "Into Your Heart" (JazzBridge Music) the following day and played it for the first time - and the second, and the fifth, etc.
Tom composed and produced all 12 tracks, with much of the work done at his Bethesda, Md., home. He is joined by some relative unknowns: Dottie Jones, vocals on "Find a Way" and "Past Stories"; David Charles, additional percussion on "Quality Time," "Shinjuku" and "Third Spirit"; and Tom's grandson, Jacob Garcia, baby vocals on "Third Spirit."
Better than half the songs on the CD are motivated by love for people who have inspired the 44-year-old Buffalo, N.Y. native.
"Find a Way," the opening track on "Into Your Heart," is my early favorite. Jones' sultry vocal and Tom's melodic piano/keyboard performance marry the old and the new - contemporary jazz with old-school.
"Portrait of My Father," a slow, quiet piece reminiscent of old-style jazz, is dedicated to Tom's late father, Walter J. Schuman, himself an accomplished jazz bassist. On that track and on "Past Stories," a spin on the name of legendary jazzman Jaco Pastorius, Tom's mastery of modern technology really comes through.
Tom pushes the envelope, mixing rapid-fire keyboard sequences with a driving bass track.
Usually, there's a tell-tale airiness that lets you know certain sounds are done by a synthesizer or computer. Percussion and bass rhythms rare change - taboo in the improvisational world of jazz.
Yet Tom pulls it off. Taking high-tech samples and groundbreaking software, he makes the bass, drums and other instruments sound authentic.
Another three songs that really stand out are "Mysterious Ways," Tom's expression of reverence to God, "Samba for Two" and the Japanese-themed "Shinjuku," named for an area of Tokyo.
Tom has said he jammed with his parents as a child. Count me as onelistener who is very grateful for those jams.

This album is beautiful! We have had this cd in our stereo for months, and never get tired of hearing it. Each time it seems to get better, in fact!
Her voice has an unusually captivating quality, sometimes haunting, sometimes sensual, always smooth. The Montenegrin ballad is one of the best songs, and she has an ability to transcend language with this one song, in that we can all feel the pain of the story through her singing. The other takes on many jazz classics are all original and well done.
I highly recommend buying this album.
