5 out of 5 stars A Great First Outting.......2004-08-01

I bought this CD because I love hearing what the up-and-comers in music are evolving to. This was an excellent first outting for a new artist. The music composition and execution was clean and, unlike most in music today, this artist did not rely on heavy distortion to mask sloppy play. Most of these songs were played clean giving the tracks an intimate feel. It's definitely a CD for musical purists.
It's nice to hear how seriously an artist takes their music and songwriting through their work. It shines through here. As is the case with all artists, each new release is an evolution for them. It will be interesting to see where the next CD goes.

5 out of 5 stars Music like this is never "Growing Old(er)".......2001-06-16

This cd from top to bottom, is as heartfelt as any album I have ever listened to. And the beautiful thing about it is that it is all John's. No producers, no interference of any kind. It's nice to hear honest, well-written music in an industry filled with 30 offsprings of Korn or Backstreet Boys or Britney Spears. I believe John is very comparable to the music of Matthew Sweet in that they both write beautifully constructed melodies and can whale away on the guitar like there's no tomorrow, all on the same album. This cd was definite music to my ears. It was nice to hear him perform live before buying this cd. If ever in the Chicagoland area, look John up. His live performances, as well as his solo debut, are a treat for music fans of any genre.

2 out of 5 stars My Own Device.......2001-06-04

While the effort is there, this CD isn't anything we haven't heard before from a 1,000 other singer/songwriters. This CD drifts into too many directions for me. Condron should back off from trying to convince the listener that he is a great vocalist, to using just enough emotions in his vocals to sell his stories he sings about. A good producer could help maybe find that nich. I would be willing to hear more, but only if this artist seeks a direct focal point for his music When Condron can find a true path direction he may go places.
