4 out of 5 stars New Rockin' remixes and Dubbed-Up hits.......2000-07-07

There are a handful of CD remix collections for S.O.S., and to my knowledge they were only released in Japan. This collection of dance remixes and dub versions is probably the best of the lot, although the "Swing 3" import features many of the same songs. If you already own copies of S.O.S.' dance singles, chances are you have a number of these versions already. Many of the original (and B-side) remixes from S.O.S.' first studio album are included in this compilation.

As "pure" dance music, these are not guaranteed crowd pleasers, with the possible exception of "Breakout" (the original extended mix and instrumental "Horny Version" are included here) which was a world-wide hit. Some of these tracks were minor club hits ("Twilight World," "Surrender," "Fever") in the mid-to-late 80's, but only fans can appreciate the variety found in this CD. The remixes themselves are pretty inventive and often humorous, though they occasionally include breaks and interludes that interrupt the rhythm flow for dancers.

Fans should readily appreciate and enjoy these alternate takes on S.O.S.' first batch of songs. Of the three non-album tracks that are included here, only "Another Lost Weekend" is filler. "Dirty Money" is an uptempo, tympani-driven ditty made for the dancefloor, though at 4:06 it's a bit short. "Fever," which was a minor hit in early techno/alternative dance clubs, is the real gem here. Though it too is rather brief as a dance track (4:32), it's a compelling trance-like tune that sounds little like the Pop-friendly fare on "It's Better To Travel."

Casual fans of S.O.S. may not find much in this compilation to be new, or "new enough" to justify the expense. Those who continue to follow the group should be very pleased with "Another Non-Stop Sister," particularly if they don't own any other S.O.S. dance compilations.
