Some thought it would never happen, but after solo successes and a three-year hiatus the ladies of Destiny's Child have reunited for the eagerly-anticipated Destiny Fulfilled. The Houston-based trio of Kelly, Michelle and some girl named Beyonce follow up their mega successful Survivor with another album full of infectious dance grooves and melancholy tales of women done wrong. Lead single "Lose My Breath" is their first offering of the former. Backed by a kinetic marching band sample, they sing with an urgency that bolsters the Rodney Jerkins-produced track. Current single "Soldier" is more of the same. Featuring T.I. and Lil' Wayne, the song allows the trio to sing the praises of the kind of men they like.

Despite this one-two uptempo punch, DC does do ballads. They go old-school on the moving "If." Michelle, who has several impressive solos throughout, and Beyonce trade lines about finding and holding on to love. However, on "Bad Habit" the trio goes for the paint-by-numbers woman finding her inner-strength theme. Other highlights include the 9th Wonder and Beyonce-produced "Girl" and the midtempo gem "Free." --Rashaun Hall

2 out of 5 stars Beyonce contradicts herself and Destiny's Child is lame.......2007-03-09

Ok... Beyonce sings about being a very independent woman and being a Survivor but she's singing about have a ghetto thug in Soldier to make her complete and that she will slave over a man in Cater 2 You? She lacks substance in her music and she's contradicts herself. There's a better word for this a Hypocrite. First of all, the Destiny's Child girls are from a upper middle class neighborhood in Texas but they're dressing up as ghetto girls in the Soldier video? And they're singing about that they want a ghetto thug as a boyfriend. No girl wants a ghetto dude as a boyfriend. They mays sell more albums than most girls groups but TLC, the Supremes, and En Vogue and even latin freestyle girl groups from the 1980's like the Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Seduction, Expose have more substance in their music and lyrics.

4 out of 5 stars Sometimes on, sometimes off.......2006-11-22

Destiny's Child has been named the best-selling girl group of all time and it's not hard to figure out the reason why! Their tight melodies, slammin' beats and looks definitely shout "superstardom" and Destiny Fulfilled (their first--and last--disc as a regrouped act) showcases them nearly at their best. Lead single "Lose My Breath" combines a sample of a marching band and Hip Hop-induced R&B hooks to make one slice of pure ear candy; "Soldier" is another example of DC at the top, but had it not involved the typical overused rapper appearance it'd have been much better (in my opinion T.I. and Lil' Wayne only bring the song down). "Cater 2 U" opens with a soft, introspective raindrop-like introduction and shimmers into a great R&B ballad. The trademark Destiny's Child harmonies are apparent on the opening of "If," another beautiful ballad on Fulfilled. In the past Michelle hasn't had much chance to have solos (Beyonce is no doubt the powerhouse singer here--but that doesn't mean she has to overpower the other two girls) but here she has several. Aside from the stellar opener "Lose My Breath," "Through With Love" is almost as addictive. Overall, Destiny's Child could have done a little better since this disc is a little dragged down by too many bland ballads, but in the end it's still a great tribute to the world's best-selling girl group and should leave the listener indeed feeling fulfilled.

3 out of 5 stars It's...Ok .......2006-10-30

I like Destiny's Child alot and I liked this cd somewhat. Some of the good songs are "Lose My Breath" which is a good one to get ppl dancing at a party, "Cater 2 U" which is a good song to listen to if you have nothing to do, "Soldier" and Is She the Reason" those are the good songs. If you want to hears these songs without having to buy the cd, just download. Easy as can be plus if you don't like it you could alsways delete it.

5 out of 5 stars Very Entertaining.......2006-10-27

I love this album - I just got it as a free CD from Columbiahouse. It's a grown woman's album. I can listen to it from beginning to end without skipping tracks. It's has a good mix of club bangers, slow jams and sad love songs. Also Kelly and Michelle do more singing than in the past. They have good voices as well. Different to Bey's voice but good nonetheless. #10 Through With Love and #5 Is She The Reason are the tracks that were not released as singles that I love the most.
1.Lose my breath - When this song was released as a single, I didn't really like it but it grew on me since then. I like the marching band sounds in it.
2. Solder feat TI and Lil Wayne - This song is hot. I bought this single from itunes before I had the album. Love it.
3. Cater 2 u - A great love song for a woman to dedicate to her man. I bought this single from itunes before I had the album. Love it.
4. T-shirt - Another sweet, sexy love song - like it. Very sexual
5. Is she the reason - I love this song - I love the tune.
6. Girl - This is a 'supportive of my sistas' song. Very affirming and positive. Promotes sisterhood and friendship.
7. Bad Habit - This is a song about ending the cycle of breaking up and getting back together. It's another great song.
8. If - This is different but good. It's about a cheating man.
9. Free - This is about the freedom you feel when you leave behind a bad relationship. I like the positive vibe of this song.
10.Through with love - I LOVE this song. I love how it sounds. This is one of the best of the unreleased singles off of this album.
11. Love - This is a song about finding love with someone. It's beautiful and a good conclusion to the album.

5 out of 5 stars Great Comeback Album.......2006-09-20

First of all, I'd liked to start off by saying that this CD review should be more than 3 1/2 stars. What the hell is wrong with you people, people are bugging if you think that "Survivor" was better than this. That album had a bunch of fillers and just plain "pointless". These tracks were more mature, and were better when performed live. I saw them when they were in New York last August touring, and I was especially inpressed by Michelle. She killed "Through with Love", as well as her solo single "Do You Know". To be honest I wish they never broke up, because there's a lack of true R&B groups out there. They need to get a reunion together and give these other groups a run for their money.

Destiny's Child began in 1990 as a novelty act aimed at teenagers. But they exceeded all expectations, both commercially and artistically, becoming a platinum-selling, multi-Grammy-winning sensation and attracting fans from all age groups and backgrounds with their dulcet, feisty-fresh harmonies and message of sisterly solidarity delivered with plenty of keep-it-real and love-over-all. Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams -- LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett left early on -- have broken ranks to devote themselves to their individual careers so the end of an era has been accomplished. But this collection is a bonanza for new fans and completists, capturing the band's chart-toppers in one place, augmented by Stand Up For Love plus a pair of pleasant but unessential other new tunes. The Dual-Disc B-Side contains a selection of videos, each of which display the ladies at their show-stopping, luscious best. It feels odd to think of this band in the past tense, so even while celebrating their past achievements, let's hope that they will continue to reunite whenever the spirit moves and for years to come. --Christina Roden

This is an excellent CD to add to your collection. It is one hit after another.

3 out of 5 stars OK NOT MY FAVORITE.......2007-05-07

I LIKE DESTINYS CHILD ENOUGH TO TOLORATE THEM. THEY HAVE A FEW GOOD SONGS. IVE NEVER SEEN A BAND GO THRU SO MANY MEMBERS AS DESTINYS CHILD. MY FAVORITE DESTINYS CHILD SONG IS "SAY MY NAME". I LIKE THIS SONG BECAUSE IT HAS A GOOD BEAT AND IT CATCHES THE GUY CHEATING. IF YOU ONLY LIKE A FEW DESTINYS CHILD SONGS THIS ISNT THE CD FOR YOU. IF YOURE A DIE HARD FAN GET IT.

5 out of 5 stars Destiny Fullfilled Indeed.......2007-02-06

THe best thing about his CD: They have the PERFECT amount of hits to fill one CD. That seems to b the problem for most other Greatest CD's, but not this one.

Destiny's Child has the best R&B music from the late 90'-early 00's, and this D proves i. Hot beats, catchy hooks, d beatiful voices, this C is FULL of them. An the ballads are very nice.

A lot of the songs are in edited form, so they could fit all the singles on one CD (except for "With Me", their secdon single that made no impact). Also three new songs are included.

This CD is TOP-NOTCH, and I easily recommend this to R&B and pop fans.

5 out of 5 stars Destiny's child #1's.......2007-01-18

This is an awesome CD! I don't get tired of listening to it- plus it's dual sided, one with just the songs and the other side with most, if not all, of the videos for the songs. So cool!

5 out of 5 stars #1's, A Great Collection .......2006-11-04

It's a pleasure to talk about this Album (#1's)!
I can say that even the people who are not a big fan of Destiny's Child and was not used to buying their albums until now, but like the rythims and the songs played by them, will be very satisfied when they listen this album carefully.
First, it is a collection of the songs from all the albums, since destiny's child until Destiny Fulfilled.
Second, there are three new songs. One was named as the 2005 World Children's Day Anthem , Stand up for Love. The other one is in the soundtrack of the Pink Panther movie, played by Beyoncé Knowles & Steve Martin, Check On It. And the third song is Feel The Same Way I Do.
Talking about the wonderful DualDisc, it contains 7 video clips of Destiny's Child and the Teaser of the Concert Destiny's Child Live in Atlanta.
So, It is impossible a person listen to it and don't like it.

Not even Dionne Warwick and her mind-reading friends could have predicted that, over the course of two CDs, Destiny's Child would become one of the most successful girl groups on the planet. But successful this Houston trio is, and their sophomore CD shows why. Yes, the lineup changes as often as lead singer Beyoncé's hairstyle, but fun, disposable pop/R&B needn't be rooted in permanence, and DC is mad fun and mad catchy to boot. With the assistance of hitmakers Shek'spere and Kandi Burruss, Destiny's Child trade in effervescent, hip-shaking, finger-wagging, 'you-go-girl, kick-him-to-the-curb' anthems. The Writing's on the Wall is loaded with tracks like "Bills, Bills, Bills," which are suitable both for dancing and as topics on the Ricki Lake Show. The percolating "Bug A Boo" is irresistible, as is the sassy "So Good." To their credit, the girls can slow the pace down, and on the sultry "Temptation" they get to work their considerable chops to nice effect. But as sales and chart figures have shown, Destiny's Child are at their best when they are laying down the law to some trifling man, and/or working their own groove thang. Work it they do on this somewhat formulaic but ultimately irresistible effort. --Amy Linden

5 out of 5 stars Stardom For Beyonce Was Born .......2007-03-09

What can I say about this CD is that the album is excellent. There really isn't anything bad I can say about this is that I wish Beyonce could've shared the mic a little more with the other members, and maybe slow down on the male-bashing. In all honesty, they do need it at times if the show trifling behavior. The standout tracks would be "Say My Name", "Hey Ladies", "Temptations", "Now That Your Gone", and "Bills, Bills, Bills". This will forever be a classic and DC's best album. "Survivor was a horrible follow-up.

4 out of 5 stars Destination Stardome!.......2006-11-06

Few People would have thought that the band with the quite modest debut would be able to make such a great second album and eventually become one of the most succesful girl-groups of all time. "The Writing's on the Wall" would have countless of hits and the album itself would eventually sell 12 million copies and spend 99 consecutive weeks on the Billboard album charts (that's about 2 years). With new producers, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Missy Elliott among others, the sound would also change and they would find their true identity. There would be some ballads, but the hitsingles would be uptempo songs with female attitute, something that contributed to their rise of fame. Unfortunately there would also be changes in the lineup, LeToya and LaTavia who were both childhood friends with Beyonce and Kelly felt they were maltreated by manager Matthew Knowles (Beyonce's Father) and left the band, they appeared on the recording but not in the videos. Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams joined instead, but Franklin's visit would be shortlived also. The album however is very strong, uptempo's like "Bills Bills Bills" "Bug A Boo" "Jumpin' Jumpin" and "Say My Name" were all big hits and with that Destiny's Child both had good critital acclaim and a great fan base. Album songs like uptempo "So Good" and slow pace/ballads "Confession" and "Temptation" are not bad either, towards the end there's a few too many songs though, 12 songs instead of 16 would have been better. The end result is good, Destiny's Child had got superstatus with a own sound and the album was more even the their debut, their upcoming 2 albums would also be good before a split-up was inevitable. 4 stars.

5 out of 5 stars This album was their destiny!.......2006-10-21

Beyonce and company created a classic album with `Writings on the Wall', arguably the best Destiny's Child album period. With hit after hit, it was this album that made Destiny's Child a household name. Sure, `No, no, no' was great, but can you remember any other track off their ill-fated debut? I can't, but I can sure remember just about every track off this album. Actually just today (don't tell my wife this is so embarrassing) but I was driving to lunch when I heard `Bug A Boo' come on the radio (probably my favorite Destiny's Child song ever) and I just started singing with Beyonce, every word flooding back into my mind. So freaking catchy! Anyways, the album is great, from hit club bangers like `Jumpin, Jumpin' and `Bills, Bills, Bills' to classic slow jams like `Stay' and `Temptation' (sultry) and then my personal favorites `Bug A Boo' and probably their biggest hit `Say My Name' Destiny's Child will forever be remembered for this brilliant sophomore album. It's too bad that Michelle wasn't a part of this since I really like her talent...it's just that Destiny's Child will never be able to reach the greatness they experienced with this album.

5 out of 5 stars Destiny's Child will leave you speechless.........2006-09-07

Beyonce, Letoya, Kelly, and Latavia grabbed the music industry in a chokehold and squeezed the air out with this solid sophomore album. This was the last album we saw with the "original" memebers of Destiny's Child (today just Kelly, Michelle, and Beyonce) and redefined 'girl groups' in R&B forever.

This album was primarily based on the do's and don't of relationships. These women covered everything from cheating, to paying bills, bugging your mate to death, jumpin' off in the club, giving into temptation, confessions on infidelity, and so much more. There was so much substance to the album that it put Destiny's Child on the map, unfortunately we saw roster changes for 8 months straight (but that didn't stop their reign, it only made them stronger....hence "Survivor"..)

Standout tracks: Confessions, Temptation, So Good, If You Leave Her, Say My Name, and Hey Ladies. Phenomenal work!

One listen to the eagerly anticipated third CD from the world's biggest girl group and it's clear there is one child with the most destiny. To paraphrase the hip-hop legends, "Who's house?" Beyoncé's house, and with the lead vocalist producing or cowriting all of the 14 tracks, it's hard to imagine what those other two chicks even do (other than act grateful to still have a gig). Seizing creative control is a bold move for Miss Knowles, and anytime an R&B act eschews the beat of the week, they have to be commended. But the problem is that Beyoncé, even with her ambition, has yet to suss out that the key to a pop-R&B smash is hook and melody. With the exception of the now-played-out title track (Can we all take a moratorium on this mighty goddess theme for a second, please?) and the equally you-go-girlish "Independent Woman Part 1," most of the tracks here lack a strong core. Beyoncé crams a litany of thoughts and motifs into her mini-anthems, with samples ranging from Stevie Nicks to Tarzan Boy, but though the cuts sizzle and sparkle and throw off much attitude, Survivor is way too frenetic. Even with some strong singing and songs (most notably the laid back "Fancy"), Survivor lacks real emotion. --Amy Linden

Right away, I will say that this album is a hot mess. This album has nothing but fillers and if it wasn't for the turmoil from the original lineup this horrible album wouldn've ever surfaced. For the exception of "Survivor", "Independent Women Part I, "Brown Eyes", and "Dangerously In Love" the rest is horrible. If you don't have this album, download it instead or you'll be disappointed.

4 out of 5 stars Destiny's Child Still Surviving.......2006-07-26

Destiny's Child has always had a fresh, upbeat sound. They are still carrying it throughout this album, I wasn't let down when I bought it. The songs are hot, they make you want to dance a little and sing along.

The songs that were released as singles were all amazing. "Independant Women" was a great release and appeared on a major movie soundtrack, Charlie's Angels. The song "Survivor" took the world by storm, I must have listened to it a thousand times in one week it was so good. "Bootylicous" was a great song to sing along with, it just made me want to hear more and more Destiny's Child.

There are a couple of songs that just never got through to me, but that's common on most albums. But that's probably just me, because I am mostly into more upbeat songs, and a couple of them weren't. But the overall the album was great, Destiny's Child really got down with the songs on this CD. I found some really great songs such as "Nasty Girl" and "Fancy". I'm glad I bought this album, it turned out to impress me.

3 out of 5 stars The writing really is on the wall........2006-07-15

Doesn't the mediocrity of this cd disprove the claims that Latavia and Letoya were just "backup singers" who were in the group just because they were all such great friends? The Writing's On the Wall is a much better album, and that's not an accident.

You can't screw with chemistry. The first lineup had it. This one didn't. Now they're over. And the world sighs with relief that the fakeness and pretend love and togetherness no longer has to be witnessed.

Now to be fair, half the cd ranges from tolerable to good. The other half is obvious filler. The album as a whole is over-produced and lacks soul that rhythm and blues is supposed to epitomize, therefore it must not be r&b afterall. But this is no real revelation.

5 out of 5 stars <-- Damn, They Did It Again -->.......2006-06-30

My fancy apple pie a la mode gives me a happy face and shiny brown eyes. Knowing that I am an Independent Woman. I know I can find a sexy daddy who will bring me emotion and make me feel like I'm dangerously in love. Even though........ My story of beauty has a sweet, sassy gospel melody. I know I am talented. Forever I am not a nasty girl, I am forever bootylicious and I have my mother to thank. So I want to say thank you. But my goal in life is to become a suvivor like Destiny's Child did when they recorded this album.

4 out of 5 stars The Foundation of Success.......2007-03-09

This first album from the original DC members was an excellent debut. It could've been great if it weren't for a few tracks "With Me II", and "Illusion". The album didn't need those filler tracks. The ballads were great especially "Tell Me", "Killing Time", and "Second Nature". They really shined with their first single and the rest was history.

3 out of 5 stars This could've been excellent..........2006-11-25

This debut could have been excellent if they just ditched the filler and karaoke-like covers. Most of the original songs are excellent, such as Second Nature, With Me I, No No No I & II, and especially Bridges. To put it simply, if the original songs were consolidated as an EP, excluding With Me II, this album would be close to perfection.

3 out of 5 stars Destiny Launched.......2006-11-06

Debut album from Destiny's Child contains members, Beyonce Knowles, LaTavia Roberson, LeToya Luckett, and Kelly Rowland (Cousin of Beyonce). It's produced by Wyclef Jean and Jermaine Dupri among others. This album is perhaps a little more soulish then upcoming albums, but at the same time it was released before Destiny's Child had found their true sound. It's also lacking hit singles. Infact there are only 2 hitsingles from this album "No No No Part 2" which is a remix of the more slower first part, now feauturing producer Wyclef Jean as a rapper. It's one of their best songs. And then "With Me Part 1" a midmepo quite simular to latter material actually. These were the only hitsingles, but it doesn't mean that the rest of the album is bogus. Destiny's Child are showing promise at first glimpse, "Second Nature" is a great ballad and love-midtempo "Show Me The Way" aswell as "Illusion" which is a remake of the 80's song "Just An Illusion" from Imagination and "Sail On" a Commodores cover. There are too many ballads for many taste though, later we would find out that Destiny's Child were better suited for faster uptempo songs with female attitute then ballads. This album shows promise which would give result when their sophmore album would come out in 1999 but it suffers a little from few hitsingles and not having the "identity" yet, however it's a good way of discover a up an coming band that later would get superstatus. Good not Great Debut, 3'5 stars.

5 out of 5 stars The debut classic that made Beyonce a star!.......2006-02-14

Well, folks, here it is: the debut album by Destiny's Child! This is the album that would make Beyonce a star, and it has hits like the amazing "No, No, No (Part 2)" remixed by Wyclef Jean. Master P and Jermaine Dupri are also on this album. Believe me, you NEED to get this. It's a historic recording that's a must-have.

4 out of 5 stars Im surprised.......2006-02-12

Surprisingly, there isnt much i can say. This is a good album and i enjoy most of the music. Though I was hoping to hear other members with solos, the album was good. Its better than their sophomore album in my opinion. The songs are either good or bad. There's not really an in-between. Highlights include "second nature", "no no no pt 2", "with me", "bridges", "killing time", "birthday", "sail on".

It feels odd to think of this band in the past tense, so even while celebrating their past achievements, let's hope that they will continue to reunite whenever the spirit moves and for years to come. --Christina Roden

4 out of 5 stars Irresistible.......2006-01-25

Pop music doesn't come more glamourous than this. At their very best, Destiny's Child has produced some of the most memorable pop music of the last 10 years. "Survivor," "Independent Women," "Lose My Breath," "Jumpin'Jumpin'"--the group is at its best when it uses rapid fire speak-singing (not quite rap, but clearly influenced by it) in combination with tight harmony singing. The break on "Bootylicious" where the ladies harmonize is a favorite moment from my favorite of their songs.

This CD is all the casual fan of Destiny's Child will need, but gets four stars from me instead of 5 for that awful first cut, a schlockfest that never catches fire. After that it is pretty smooth sailing--but there are potholes--"Emotion" does not match the shimmery Bee Gees production of the original, and the last two tracks--"Cater 2 U" and another new cut should really not have made the cut. Another major annoyance to me is the ease with which two original members were cut from the lineup never again to be refered to. There are three faces on the cover, but a couple more were a part (albeit minor) of their early success, and should at least have been given a couple of interior photos.

Aside from the above criticisms, though, the album is really quite rewarding. Of course, comparisons to the Supremes are inevitable, and Beyonce Knowles would be wise to remember the ups and downs of Diana Ross' solo career. It is Beyonce's voice, above all, that helped Destiny's Child rise above the masses of pop groups and become inescapable. While Kelly (especially) and Michelle may have a few more successful years in them, Beyonce will reign supreme over pop music for a long time, if she continues to make good choices.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent addition to a DC collection.......2005-12-27

I just got this CD for Christmas and I am NOT disappointed at all!! I love this CD and I absoutely love Stand Up For Love. It's an excellent song and this CD is an excellent addition to a Destiny's Child collection. This, This is the Remix, and 8 Days of Christmas are must-haves if you want to have a good collection. Obviously, you'll need Destiny's Child, The Writings on the Wall, Survivor, and Destiny Fulfilled as well, but that's another story. #1's is an accurate title and a great CD.

5 out of 5 stars #1's is a very accurate title.......2005-12-18

I've been looking forward to DC's greatest hits album ever since I learned that they were splitting up, its release being a faint silver lining to the most ominous of clouds in my short life. (Yes, I'm exaggerating, you can stop dialing psychiatric help now.) Anyway, although this CD is small consolation for the disbanding of my all-time favorite group, it is one heck of a farewell, paying homage to the legacy of the Supremes of our generation. This disc includes old favorites like No No No Part II, Bills Bills Bills, and Bug A Boo; the songs released after the first member change, Jumpin' Jumpin' and Say My Name; and finally, every hit recorded with the current (and, in my humble opinion, best) member line-up, including Survivor, Soldier, and Lose My Breath. And let's not forget the three brand-new songs: Stand Up for Love, the 2005 Children's Day anthem that made me cry; Check On It, a solo song by Beyonce, which features Slim Thug (who, incidentally, previously dated former DC member LeToya Luckett); and finally, the amazing closer for this CD, Feel the Same Way I Do, a sexy tune somewhere between a mid-tempo and a ballad.
Now, don't get me wrong here: this album is awesome, but I wouldn't recommend this disc as a first-time purchase of DC music. Before bying this, I would advise trying one of their actual albums first, because some of their songs never played on the radio have a very different sound than their polished, commercial hits. Whichever path you take, though, you will be certain to find the beautiful vocals, gorgeous harmonies, and clever lyrics that have made these ladies top the charts time and time again. Goodbye DC!

disengrated in September after a farewell concert in Vancover

This Is the Remix shows just why Destiny's Child is such a powerhouse: they have wicked songs that can survive almost any treatment. Not that the selections, culled from the group's three preceding albums, are mishandled here. The Neptunes aren't quite at the top of their game on "Emotion," but Timbaland's sexy remix of "Say My Name" is one of the best things he's done--and that's saying a lot. Despite too many rap interludes, the CD ends on a high note with feverish Maurice Joshua mixes of "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Bills, Bills, Bills," and "So Good" that are simply fantastic dance-floor burners. The one misstep is the tucked-away "Heard a Word," a track from Michelle Williams's solo album. Still, this is state-of-the-art mainstream R&B designed to tide fans over until the triumvirate goes back to the studio together. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

4 out of 5 stars This is the remix!.......2007-07-06

Ahh... the good ol' days of Destiny's Child! I loved them so much and was helplessly obsessed with them. (Well... I guess I still am.) So obsessed that I would get into verbal arguments with classmates that made fun of them or called them classless, etc. (Don't get me started on what it was like to be a huge Mariah Carey fan during the Glitter/mental breakdown period. Haha.) But I digress.

As a fan, I bought almost every maxi-single they ever came out with and I played them out. When Destiny's Child did remixes, they did them all the way. They re-recorded vocals, wrote new lyrics, and in the case of the Timbaland Remix of "Say My Name," they would create a completely different song. So when I heard they were coming out with a remix album, I was ecstatic.

Even though I already have most of these remixes (and even a few album tracks) on CD already, I'm glad that they compiled the best on one disc. And the amazing Neptunes Remix of "Emotions" was worth the purhcase alone for me. This remix album is an overall enjoyable experience and I still listen to it all of the time.

4 out of 5 stars One of Their Best!!!.......2004-11-20

This is the Remix is one the best albums from Destiny's Child. The only problem I had was with the remix of Emotions, but nevertheless, the album was very good. I recommend that everyone purchase it. This album is proof of Destiny's Child's style and versatility. The album reinteraates Destiny's Child's vocal abilities and their ability to make their best songs their best songs again. This is the Remix is album is one I recommend to the ones that love to dance and groove. This is an album that you won't want to pass up.

4 out of 5 stars Great remixes but missing something.......2004-11-03

If you own the Vinyl LP Record version of this album, it is missing the bonus track : "heard a word" by Michelle. This album has some of DC'S greatest hits remixed. This is a must buy

3 out of 5 stars Excellent but needs more...........2004-10-29

THIS IS THE REMIX is a great remix cd overall.. i just think that they were being a little bit lazy... if they had the strength to release a remix album then bring new material not old turned new...

dont get me wrong.. this is one of my favourites by DC3...

my favourite song on here is "dot" the original was not that appealing at all until i heard the remix... this song is a constant in my cd changer in the car...

other car bangers "emotions" (neptunes), "bug-a-boo" (refugee remix) "no, no, no" (extended) w/ wyclef and "jumpin jumpin" (so so def).

I am not feelin the 'survivor' (extended) because 1. not extended at all, 2. da brat is not rapping as good in it, and 3. michelle's part is cut out of it (her part in 'survivor' is the best in the whole song). also, the 'so good' is not all that great. 'independent woman pt. 2' is the worst song DC has ever put out.

overall this cd is alright but most of the remixes are great, and most of all of them suck...

From the description, I see that this is simply the Best Buy version of the B'Day Deluxe Edition. It doesn't have "2 bonus tracks" as it claims, it only has one. "World Wide Woman" is a hidden track after "Listen" on all the regular versions of the album, so it is not a bonus. The only real bonus track is "First Time," which is the same song as "My First Time" from the bonus disc of Beyonce's Live At Wembley DVD. It's a b-side from her debut album. It was produced by The Neptunes, but it's really nothing special.

The album is excellent. It is my favorite album of all time. But the point of this review is there really is no point in buying this if you already have B'Day Deluxe Edition. And it's absolutely pointless if you have the DVD I previously mentioned.

Chilly, forced, and overdone, this mixed bag of modern classics, tarted-up traditional carols, and trio of tunes penned by Beyonce Knowles doesn't conjure a single warm and fuzzy image of chestnuts roasting on an open fire or Jack Frost nipping at your nose. Rather, it's just another forum to showcase the band's Gucci bag of vocal gymnastics and crass materialism. The Texas trio takes seasonal classics like Irving Berlin's "White Christmas," "Silent Night," and "Little Drummer Boy" and embellishes them with their own trills and off-kilter harmonies, obscuring the songs' simple beauty. "On the eighth day of Christmas, my baby gave to me a pair of Chloe shades and a diamond belly ring," brags Knowles in the title song, a takeoff on the "12 Days of Christmas," without ever explaining why they lopped off four days. The band is shamelessly self-indulgent throughout the dozen songs found here, taking untold liberties, like renaming "Carol of the Bells" "Opera Bells" and recasting "Silver Bells" as "Platinum Bells" to reflect their multiplatinum status. But the low point of the record is when Destiny's Child hawk their Hasbro-manufactured dolls in the intro of "Platinum Bells": "Ladies, remember long ago we asked Santa to give us Christmas dolls? This year the dolls are you and me under the tree." Humbug. --Jaan Uhelszki

4 out of 5 stars Upbeat Christmas Music.......2006-11-14

I was looking for a Christmas album that was a little more upbeat than the norm. I thought Destiny's Child did a pretty good job of it. Their songs are fast-paced and fun! I'm not normally a fan of Destiny's Child but enjoyed this CD rather than the slower-paced Christmas CDs we are used to.

2 out of 5 stars Hope these '8 days' go by pretty fast.......2006-11-03

They're young, hot, and dominating the charts. But they just don't have what it takes to make a good holiday album.

Destiny's Child attempts to take traditional Christmas carols and make a modern, fan-geared holiday album. And, sorry to say, but it just doesn't work here.

The album opens with the title track, which I'll admit is a catchy spin off of the original "12 Days of Christmas." But the lyrics are ridiculous. Example: "On the eighth day of Christmas my baby gave to me/A pair of Chloe shades and a diamond belly ring."

The next track, "Winter Paradise" is the best of the original tracks on the disc. It's a more moderate R&B number that talks about Christmas memories. It's pretty good. But, "Spread a little love on Christmas" is about on the same level as the title track, but it focuses on all the other holidays going on at Christmas.

The girls DO get a few things right. The ridiculously-titled "Opera of the Bells" (featured on the Victoria's Secret holiday commercial) is a slowed-down version of "Carol of the Bells," complete with nice harmonies that are actually quite enjoyable. "This Christmas" is also complete with tight harmonies that give it an enjoyable spin and make it almost unrecognizable. "A DC Christmas Medley" is a fun assortment of kid's Christmas carols, such as "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," "Frosty," and "Holly, Jolly Christmas." And the best track on the disc, "Do You Hear what I Hear," is a wonderfully original take on the classic that doesn't wander too far from the original sound of it.

However, the album also takes a turn for the worst in a few places. "Platinum Bells" is a ludicrous cover of "Siver Bells" that talks about the group's success (platinum albums). And the cover of "The Little Drummer Boy" is absolutely laughable. The girls don't even get the story right! ("And then he smiled at me/the little drummer boy smiled at me" -- correction... baby Jesus smiled at you, and YOU ARE the little drummer boy!)

Download the few good tunes off this album from I-tunes and save yourself the money of every single song on here. Trust me, buying the whole CD is not worth it.

Best Song: "Do You Hear What I Hear" (great original take, true to classic song)

The good:
"Winter Paradise" (enjoyable, laid-back original with good harmonies)
"This Christmas" (a different take, very original)
"A DC Christmas Medley" (it's fun)
"Opera of the Bells" (nice harmonies)

The OK:
"Silent Night" (pretty good, but Beyonce oversings it)
"8 Days of Christmas" (catchy, but with stupid lyrics)
"Spread a Little Love on Christmas" (ditto)

The bad:
"The Little Drummer Boy" (at least get the story right)
"White Christmas" (I don't like their version of this)
"Platinum Bells" (too stupid to even laugh at... worst track on the album)
"O Holy Night" (I'm very critical of covers of this song because it's my favorite Christmas tune and Michelle's voice just doesn't fit it)

5 out of 5 stars The best holiday and the best album.......2006-10-22

I love this album! It rocks. It's up beat and fun. Instead of singing the same old songs the same old ways each song has a new flavor and style that brings new life and joy to Christmas. I enjoy listening to it every year. This is my all time favorite Christmas album.

1 out of 5 stars save your money!.......2005-12-25

That Eight Days of Christmas track really says it all about this shallow, tacky, soul-less drivel. Also, I admire her, but Beyonce needs to stop working on blue jeans and become a better musician. You can always tell a song she's written because her melodies and choruses are limited to the same four repetetive notes. See if the 8 days doesn't sound just like Independent Woman. Seriously. Why is she afraid to use the whole scale?

4 out of 5 stars I am a survivor.......2005-10-30

For years Destiny's child was one of my favorite groups, I fell in love with them when I was maybe in the 7th grade. I remember "Independent women", later "Survivor" came out, but when "Bootylicious" hit the lists I bought this album. "Emotions" was one of the songs that made me buy it.
The bonus tracks are amazing too: "Perfect man", "My heart still beats" and "Dance with you", but as always Beyonce wanted being the attention center, specially on "My herat still beats" and "Dangerously in love"
Anyway, this good, buy it.

5 out of 5 stars extra tracks is good too . . ........2001-05-13

first off this is a very good cd with a lot of catchy songs and lyrics. i highly reccomend this to any fan of r&b songs. the purpose of this review is to let u know bout the extra tracks:

-DANCE WITH ME: nice fun beat wit a great chorus and possibly better then some of the songs they included in the american version of "survivor."

-PERFECT MAN: you can also catch this one on the "romeo must die" soundtrack. great beat, nice and exteremely catchy chorus and infectious and spacey dance elements. this is basically has the same theme as "apple pie a la mode" but a little more funkier.

-MY HEART STILL BEATS: nice ballad and chorus. if u love "emotion" off of "survivor" and, like me, wish that destiny's child would do more to expand their vocal talents, then this song is for you.

these three songs are all worthy of being on the american release of "survivor" but for some reason, americans will never have much access to b-sides . . . only get this if u LOVE destiny's child and don't mind paying a little extra for a quality import.
