Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars very disappointing.......2006-01-18

After enjoying Man Ray 1, 2,& 3 I was very disappointed after listening to Man Ray 4. I'm not familiar with Padilla but, the continued use of tired, repetative electronic drum loops might work for the terminally mindless, club going herd that needs that type of creativeless pounding to drive their dancing but, to me, it was just boring. Man Ray 1-3 had a continuity that worked through the diversity of the cuts. 4 completely lacks any of that. While there are some good cuts their sandwiched inbetween old sounding cuts that just don't have any longevity to their style. That canned drum beat is just out-dated. 1-3 could still be listened to years from now. 4 died over 5 years ago. The inclusion of "Hip Hip Chin Chin" was another mistake. While it is a good cut, how often are you going to want to listen to it? Besides, Brazilectro 6 did a much better job of placing that cut between to others that makes it so you can hear it more than once or twice without becoming tired of it. An that last cut of Edith or, is it Marlana? Please, I love French wine and food but that song should remain in the vault. In summary, what could have been good cuts were were made boring with repetative, boring drum loops. The inclusion of rap, or rap-like, cuts was a poor choice for a lounge/chill CD. Your money could be better spent on the many good Cd's that are out there. I wish I had.
