A culmination of some of the best underground musical acts around all on one compilation!!! This funky compliation will have a special something for everyone and bound to get at the least heads nodding.The compilation is a MUST for any urban music lover.

An underground of funk anyone? Yes please........2003-10-29

I'm diggin this compilation straight away. ISM are the toughest break beats I have heard in a long while. Then you got some real soulful diva gear from bands like Quattro and The Bluefoot Project. "Funked Up and Freaked Out" from the Kava Kava hits the spot and kind of comments on the whole thing. Basically you don't have to be cool and cliched to like this stuff, it just is what it is, ruff, tuff and ready, with no major labels to wreck it. Long live the funky underground!

Great stuff.......2003-12-12

Various "Taster ... Sounds From The Funky Underground Volume 2" (chocolate fireguard) I'm digging this. From the first minutes this proves to be one monster of a leftfield compilation. I've always been a fan of `the Egg' and `Think Dirty'  from Markoni (its an Egg offshoot baby!) does not disappoint here with its awesome proggy groove, followed by the dark and sinister `Jesus Haystax' who laments how "everyone loves brad pitt"  over some seriously tough house beats and guitar riffs.....woah scary stuff! But it's the eclectic diversity of this collection that makes this such a truly great find. The Bluefoot Project's `Soma' and Kava Kava's `Maui' rule the chill out moments, while in soundtrack land Norway's `Xploding Plastix' reappear with the marvellous "Sports Not Heavy Crime'. Capri launch a rocket with "Car Chase On Phoenix Avenue"  Ism bosh out drumn'n'techno (?) with `Nu for Ireland', French hip hoppers `Ça' delight with the smooth vibes of `Autonome' If you are after something daring, fresh and full of surprises, then these two and a half hours are for you......Funktastic! Strike two, from the fantastic Chocolate Fireguard label that keep churning out the cream of the crop.A phenomenal selection of more funk, more soul, more laid back beats that has done justice to the first Taster compilation.Eagerly awaiting the third instalment to complete what is sure to be a mind blowing musical trilogy.

Woah! I have not heard of half of these bands and djs but this has to be one of the most refreshing compilations I have heard in a long long while. Diverse, chilled and eclectic.......my faves have to be "Soma" The Bluefoot Project, "Maui" Kava Kava and "Think Dirty" Markoni. Anxiously awaiting volume 3, why aren't there more labels like Chocolate Fireguard!
