Minimalism with Heart.......2004-02-08

I enjoyed this and the other ISAN albums very much and would recommend them to anyone with a taste for ambient music. Deceptively simple sounds from odds sources (typewriters as percussion, etc.) come together and stay in the mind long after. Worth looking for this and especially the Salamander, Lucky Cat or Clockwork Menagerie albums. Happy hunting.

If you are amazed by this cd, that I purchased based on the other reviews here. Think alot more. Try Bluetech, Drystar or a Cafedelmar. Pass on minimalism that is yes very minimal. I think someone beating sticks together is minimal. These folks are doing only a little finer...

Most recent not necessarily the best........2003-07-26

I own 5 titles by this group and find "Beautronics" one of my top two favorites. Vintage does not equal greater enjoyment in this case, however I do like all the releases. I think if you own one title you are likely to enjoy another.

A Landscape of Sound and Color.......2000-11-23

Usually, an attempt at artistic and minimalistic instrumental electronic music is bound to be boring and cold. In this case, Isan's Beautronics is far from chilly. Instead, one begins to have visions of futuristic landscape paintings or retro bronzes when listening to this album. Honestly, I don't think I've heard anyone get away with as much as Isan does in so few notes and beats. Meanwhile, I swear, the album is a perfect accompanyment to that state between waking and dreaming when the imagination just begins to wander off, because where it wanders is into an incredible environment of somehow visual and physical soundscapes.
