A Very Good Sequel - Worth the purchase.......2001-08-06
The first reviewer was correct in that this cd definitely feels jazzier than the first one. There is far more instrumentation, and all in all some of the tracks are longer. Terrific music, terrific sounds and great if this is what you are listening to on the way to the classy latin night club. This is a great CD - the hardest part is to compare it to another, other than the first cd that came out. If you like the sound of BossaCucaNova's O Barquinho or some of their newer work from Brasilidade, you may like this one. However it differs from BossaCucaNova in that it's jazzier!

Volume 2 is jazzy and spacious.......2005-04-03
Good Sequel.......2004-03-13
And wow, did it blow me away. The vibe of this cd is like an electronic/jazz bossa sound. Think of a sound that's a bit more live, but not as polished as today's Schema musicians (Gerardo Frisina, etc.). I really dig this - especially the way it starts! It starts out with hard to find Russ Gabriel and his cut "Jelba", followed up with Ben Mays "Whassssssup This Morning!" and then "Non Fatiguing Natural Silk". Not al of the songs grabbed me... like "Ibis Vermelho" is a cut that you will either love or hate with it's sort of 70's styled electronic sound and cheesy vocal. But all in all this CD does have a nice latin club feel to if and if you were into compilations like "Eighteenth Street Lounge Jet Society", or cd 2 of Hedkandi's "Serve Chilled vol 3", this is DEFINITELY up your alley.
I recommend this - definitely if you have the first one, you'll wanna check this out. It's a more modern sound to the first release and I still pop it in to check out Jelba and remember the summer vibes. Also, this wasn't the last of the Trip Do Brasil cds... they had a semi-remix project out aptly titled "Trip Do Brasil 2.5". And again, if you like this, check out the two mentioned cd's above and Brazilectro vol 2, which was from around the same time period, and Faze Action's "PureBraziliance".
