Album Description

Fifth album for UK dance act featuring Rob Haigh, one of the most influential producers on the drum & bass scene. His early 12' releases 'Mystic Steppa', 'Renegade Snares' & 'Rollin' Heights' were largely responsible for developing the jungle sound from the dark hardcore break-beats of the early 90's into a new era of lushly textured, ethereal tracks, featuring almost classical production & arrangement techniques. Even Angels Cast Shadows is the followup to the critically acclaimed 1999 album, Byte Size Life. Moving Shadow Records. 2001.

Album Details

This is their Fifth Album Release and Promises to Highlight Once Again R&B Haigh's Sheer Mastery of the Inspiring, Thoughtful and Moving Drum and Bass He Has Helped Develop Over the Last Eight Years. It Delivers a Range of Tracks which Gracefully Avoid the Usual Cliches of Many of Today's Productions, While Effortlessly Encapsulating the Timeless Quality of Rob Haighs Very Best Work.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2004-08-29

This is a great CD, Clean background drum n bass with strong synths that's still reasonably paced. First Contact & Higher Ground are stand out tracks.

5 out of 5 stars For crying out loud...........2002-09-21

Alright, people are trying to categorize Omni Trio (particularly this album) as something it's not. (For crying out loud, most of the other reviewers couldn't even spell!) It's not jungle and it's not drum and bass- well kinda- it's atmospheric drum and bass. Ambient. Jazzy. Lush. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check out some cd's by Blame, Future Engineers or LTJ Bukem. I thoroughly enjoyed this album, particularly track 3 (Higher Ground). True, this is not enjoyed by those of you looking for hard d & b or jungle; check out Usual Suspects or Ed Rush to fulfill that fix. However, if you are looking for the future of electronic music, look no further.

5 out of 5 stars VIT.......2002-08-30

this guy is VERY IN TUNE. i didn't rate it on first listen, because i didn't think there were any standout tracks. this is the beauty of it. it is one of the few albums that you can put on and play the whole way though, listen over and over, and it just gets better every time. it's like, i didn't think he had many new sounds or a new style, but what omni had done is totally perfected his craft.

other people who haven't rated this so high, were probably looking for a bangin dnb album. this album has no energy. it's ambient, and it's beautiful (and in my opinion, more than made up for byte size life, which was a flop after hanted science, and all the brilliant 12" he's done).

probably would rate 4.5........

now forget this hero & get with the zero.

3 out of 5 stars First contact might be misleading.......2002-06-28

So any way, I liked the tune first contact a bit, It showed up on a couple Moving Shadow comps and of course it is on the GTA 3 game. My problem is this, mixed in with the other songs on this realese it looses some of it's appeal. don't get me wrong there are some interesting sounds on this disc, but the beats don't hit me as hard as I would like. I like mellow music as well as the abbrasive stuff, but to sum it all up This is a mellow roller.(if that makes any sence). I am sure I will grow quite fond of this album. It just isn't my favorite right now.

3 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled.......2002-02-21

Omni Trio is not Drum and Bass - nor jungle or 'dark hardcore break beat'. While most of this album is upbeat it still has the softness expected of Omni Trio. I don't think this album has a "who are you" track - and maybe it even falls short of 'Haunted Science' (I give that one 4 stars).
