5 out of 5 stars Simply Magnificent Album...........2006-09-21

Without a doubt, Doug Lazy was the greatest hip house artist - PERIOD. One Listen to "Let it Roll" made me his biggest fan. Doug Lazy Gettin Crazy is a classic album, and it still burns me to know that there was not one person in the whole AR department that couldn't market this album and make Doug Lazy a household name. Smooth Cuts like H.O.U.S.E." and "Let the Rhythm Pump" will always go down as party joints. Thanks for the memories, Doug Lazy.

5 out of 5 stars A true "Classic".......2003-04-04

While a few folks have deemed B.G. The Prince Of Rap's solo effort as a hip-house gem don't be lead astray by the lack of recognition that Doug Lazy's debut failed to recieve. It's such a shame that this hip-house extravaganza is no longer in print because unlike B.G.'s "The Power of Rhythm" this cassette is an opening to closing joint roof-burner. Somehow the production wizardry of Vaughn Mason and the rhyme skillz of D.L. got overshadowed and overlooked by the likes of Black Box, C and C Music Factory, Technotronic and Snap. And while all profited heavily from extended airplay on MTV and Pop Radio, as well as overzealous A & R promotional staffs, none (with C and C Music Factory being the exception) are quite able to capture the overall "funkiness" of "Gettin' Crazy".

Standout tracks are "H-O-U-S-E" (check out the ABAB rhyme scheme on that cut), the Dazz influenced "Go To Work", "Can't Hold Back" (which features the guitar lick from James Brown's "Superbad"), "Can't Get Enough" and "Let The Rhythm Pump" (both driven by urban house grooves).

The real tragedy is that while all the previously mentioned groups debuts can be found at your friendly neighborhood internet super music store "Doug Lazy Gettin' Crazy" will be forever banished on the bargain rack at your local supermarket. Little did you know that this "bargain" would turn out to be a diamond in the rough.
