4 out of 5 stars The Best of Erick Satie.......2007-06-11

The reason I bought this product, is because I was familiar with the 3 Gymnopedies of Erick Satie and also another of his work: The Gnosiemme (I'm not sure about the spelling) No. 4. After listening to the CD I felt very happy with it because include both versions of the Gymnopedies, the Orchestral and the one for piano and of course the Gnosiemme No. 4 which I now like it very much. The pianist makes justice to Satie's work and if you like his work is a good buy.

5 out of 5 stars A forerunner to minimalism.......2007-04-13

Satie is a forerunner to minimalism. Each piece of his music is a beauty. He also had great influence on many famous composers and musicians in his age. This album is one of the best piano classical.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful.......2006-07-07

Just a great collection from Erik Satie. I would highly recommend this one!

3 out of 5 stars Richard review of Best of Satie.......2005-09-02

The recording is well done. Eric Satie is not the type of music that many people will appreciate. I like his music and this particular recording.

5 out of 5 stars Got Satie?.......2005-07-27

... Well folks. This may be the perfect album to get started. This features some of the best-known works by the wierd and witty Erik Satie, including the Gymnopedies (both the original piano and the orchestrated versions), the Gnossiennes, just to name a few.

The performance done by pianist Klara Kormendi is relatively plain and simple, just as Satie might have wanted. Some of his music is actually not too difficult to play... A great CD at a budget price. Kudos to Naxos for a good performance at a good price.

Also, what I'm equally impressed is the fact that in this "appreciation" album, the listener will actually be listening to many "sets" of pieces. Some of those albums (Beethoven and Mozart for example) are mere collections of selected tracks, many just one movement of a large work, such as a symphony. In some you will only be listening to selected numbers of different large "sets" of pieces. In Chopin's for example one may listen only few of the 20+ nocturnes (No. 2 for example), 15+ waltzes, and 20+ mazurkas he wrote, so one would not feel complete listening to the whole "cycles" of short pieces. Satie, fortunatley, prefered using tiny sets of pieces, most of them only comprising of three movments each. Plus each piece is short. ALL of the three Gymnopedies. ALL of the six Gnossiennes. ALL of the three Sarabandes. ALL of the three nocturnes. One can already feel happy listening to couple "sets" within a single CD.

Once again, this may be the perfect album to get started with Erik Satie. And get ALL out of those pieces!!!

4 out of 5 stars Another great USA single edition.......2007-07-26

Andy & Vince are back in action with ICFILWY, good mixes (especially the radio edit of Jeremy Wheatley) and a good b-side. You won't be dissapointed with this cd-single!!!

5 out of 5 stars A Happy Uptempo Song........2007-07-03

I could dance all night with this song. Pure Erasure. Get it if you have not own this one. Remixes are great.

5 out of 5 stars the beats keep goin'.......2007-06-12

Lots of value here. Great, upbeat and addictive song offered in various incarnations to satisfy your individual tastes. Erasure maintains their finger on the pulse of what sounds really good and keeps the feet tapping. They've quite simply mastered the art of the perfect electro-pop song, as evidenced by this savory morsel of a single.

5 out of 5 stars Great single!.......2007-05-12

I love the new song! The mixes are just as good, if not a little better than the album version. The album mix is pure classic Erasure stuff, and if you love Erasure you will be so glad! I am eagerly awaiting the new full length cd in May!

5 out of 5 stars They've Still Got It............2007-05-10

What can I say? "I Could Fall in Love With You" is the kind of giddy, up-beat, care-free music that caused me to fall in love with the music of Erasure 20 years ago. But the really cool part is that the technical quality of this new single is, as usual, slightly ahead of contemporary. Electronica has come along way since "Speak and Spell" and "Wonderland", and with the notable exception of "Loveboat", Vince has always been ahead of the rest. Furthermore, in my humble opinion, Andy's vocals have never been more energetic. I'm counting the days until I receive the complete album, and I'm looking forward to more remixes.

The "Golden Age" referred to here spans The Jazz Singer and the advent of the talkies to the death throes of the old studio system in the 1960s. So vast was the era's musical landscape that even this 42-track, double-disc anthology can't encompass all its peaks. Not surprisingly, the bulk of this collection originated with the Tiffany's of the screen musical, M-G-M, a body of work whose riches here encompass both pop-cultural bedrock ("Over the Rainbow," "Singin' in the Rain," "There's No Business Like Show Business," etc.) and some less familiar, if equally delightful star turns: Clark Gable gamely "Puttin' On the Ritz"; the sassy, 1948 original of "The Lady Is a Tramp" by Lena Horne; and a loopy duet of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" by Esther Williams and Ricardo Montalban. Fred Astaire's elegant, epochal reign at RKO and M-G-M is represented by "Night and Day," "Let's Face the Music and Dance," and three others, while Metro mainstays Gene Kelly and Judy Garland share equal time and billing. It's not perfect--Cagney's "Yankee Doodle Boy" and/or some Sinatra seem more logical choices than the odd "bonus" duet of Casablanca's "As Time Goes By" and "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago that close out disc one--but it's a stunning, surprisingly comprehensive primer on the Hollywood film musical nonetheless. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars They were right--there is NO business like the show business they did way back when !!!.......2006-11-18

Everything that happens in life
Can happen in a show
You can make 'em laugh
You can make 'em cry
Anything
Anything can go....

The clown with his pants falling down
Or the dance that's a dream of romance
Or the scene where the villain is mean
That's entertainment!

The lights on the lady in tights
Or the bride with the guy on the side
Or the ball where she gives him her all
That's entertainment!

The plot and the hot simply teeming with $ex
A gay divorcee who is after her ex
It could be Oedipus Rex
Where a chap kills his father
And causes a lot of bother

The clerk who is thrown out of work
By the boss who is thrown for a loss
By the skirt who is doing him dirt

The world is a stage,
The stage is a world of entertainment!

This two CD set amply proves that the musical melodies and lyrics from the golden age of the Hollywood musical remain unsurpassed to this day. This generous two CD set offers 42 incredible songs from Hollywood classic musicals. Most of these fine numbers are indeed from MGM, as Amazon correctly notes; but there are some RKO numbers and even a little from Warner Brothers. Thank goodness, though, that most of these songs came from MGM movies; MGM was the only studio that could boast that it truly had "more stars than there are in the heavens."

I love so many songs on these two CDs. Of course, there's the unforgettable classic "Over The Rainbow" sung by Judy Garland; she also performs "Easter Parade" and "Get Happy" on this two CD set and she carries most of the tune for "I Got Rhythm" even though Mickey Rooney helps her a little. I love "Baby, It's Cold Outside" for its' romantic overtones; and Lena Horne's "The Lady Is A Tramp" is flawless! We also get a rare chance to hear Clark Gable sing in "Puttin' On The Ritz;" and Bing Crosby's "Going Hollywood" may be brief but it's a fun song anyway.

There are two "bonus" tracks on the first CD: "As Time Goes By" from Casablanca and "Lara's Theme" from Doctor Zhivago. "As Time Goes By" is a good choice; it is another unsurpassed classic song that brings back memories and touches even the hardest of hearts. "Lara's Theme," however, is from the mid 1960s and I don't consider this period to be part of the "golden age" of Hollywood musicals.

The liner notes are excellent and they offer wonderful photos of the stars as well. The cover art is well done and the reverse cover art tells which movie each song is from and who is performing each song. Moreover, the quality of the sound is excellent especially when you consider that these numbers were recorded quite a few decades ago.

In short, this superlative two CD highlights the glory of the Hollywood musical when a certain type of sophistication dominated professional movie production. I highly recommend this CD for fans of Hollywood musicals, classic pop vocals and fans of the artists and actors who perform on this two CD set.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best cds I ever bought. .......2006-06-07

What an amazon collection of songs! This is bar none my favorite cd just because of the variety and the quality of songs on it. I love music from this era, and this cd is the perfect companion to my life. Love it! Buy it, you won't regret it for a moment!

1 out of 5 stars Never Sounded Better.......2006-03-16

Apart from the great selection of soundtracks, what really makes this compilation top value is the quality of the sound processing. Executed with finesse, these tracks sound better than when first issued and many are unedited, fuller versions: like "Singing In The Rain", for example. Throw in the great price, and this double disc set is a "must have" for all lovers of classic movie music.

5 out of 5 stars Somewhere Over The Rainbow.......2006-02-24

A Sensational CD with Lots of Showtunes that Keep You Happy and makes You Want To Sing Along With!!!

It was once said by the songwriters of that era - "There are two artists you want perform your songs on the big screen, they are Fred Astaire and Judy Garland they sing it just the way we wrote it, for which you will have a guaranteed hit on your hands"...well, this collections certainly has some merit to that statement...because with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire performing seven songs each, there must be something to it.

This collection of musicals still has the magic that we remember from those bygone years...but as long as we have the labels and networks who play and show these wonderful films of yesteryear, they will never be forgotten...hats off to Rhino Records, George Feltenstein (producer) and Doug Schwartz (engineer) and Turner Classic Movies for sharing those 42 selections from 42 films...celebrating decades of the tunes and artists that gave it their all...from what it commonly called "The Hollywood Dream Factory"...The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals is still among us...gotta love it!

Kristin Chenoweth won a Tony for the supporting role of Sally Brown in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, made a memorably vampy Lily in the 1999 television film of Annie, and had an NBC sitcom created for her, Kristin! Now she grabs the spotlight in Let Yourself Go, her first solo recording. She mixes torchy standards ("My Funny Valentine," "How Long Has This Been Going On?") with Faith Prince-style sauciness ("If"), gets to show off her operatic and scat chops in the miniplay "The Girl in 14G," and shares a light duet with Jason Alexander (reviving his musical theater career post-Seinfeld). Perhaps her "Stranger Here Myself" isn't the weightiest you've ever heard, but this is an enjoyable album with a good deal of old-fashioned class, expertly accompanied by Rob Fisher and the Coffee Club Orchestra. --David Horiuchi

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of the best ever!.......2007-04-24

Do I mean the best album or the best singer? You are correct if you said both! I saw Kristin Chenoweth on a PBS show "Broadway's Best at the Pops," (though it was not the first time I had heard her) and decided to check out the offerings here. This is a collection of the kind of music and performances I love. She has a great range, a precise pitch, and a great style that is at the same time true to the music and to herself. In an era when singers try to outdo each other re-interpreting the composer's original work, not usually with great success, she is a blessing!

I bought this CD for the Girl in 14G. Yes, it's that good...

4 out of 5 stars Has its moments.......2007-02-19

After watching Candide endlessly and going to see Ms. Chenoweth in The Apple Tree, I was hungry for something more portable to listen to. At times this fits the bill, but what surprised me the most is how thin her voice comes across on this recording. Perhaps it was the joy of seeing her live that has ruined this listener; perhaps I need to upgrade my aging music system. Then again, maybe the recording is just not as good as Ms. C singing Bernstein or as good as staring at Ms. C command a Broadway stage.

4 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2007-01-19

I truly enjoy listening to this CD. Kristin Chenoweth's vocal style and abilities are very well-matched to the songs selected for this album. If you enjoy classic, older-style Broadway/popular tunes, I would highly recommend this CD. Ms. Chenoweth has a bright, expressive voice and does a fantastic job with this material.

As with any full-length CD, there are a couple of songs I am not as crazy about, but that has to do with the songs themselves, not Ms. Chenoweth's vocal performance. Overall, I love this album and have listened to it several times now, since receiving it as a Christmas gift last month.

5 out of 5 stars This woman has what it takes, and then some..........2007-01-12

Kristin Chenoweth brings new life to some timeless Broadways tunes while introducing a few wonderful new ones. This high pitched vocal goddess effortlessly provides for a nearly flawless and easy listening experience. I definitly recommend this CD for anyone who enjoys jazz vocals, showtunes, or just a new spin on some old classics.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous for any Broadway-lover.......2007-01-30

Packs into 5 CD's a sampling of Broadway tunes from the 20's thru (almost) today, mostly from original cast recordings. Includes not just well-known hits, but also some lesser-known gems. Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

5 out of 5 stars Top Shelf.......2007-01-04

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

Donna de Lory has several solo albums out, but she's still best known as a back-up singer for Madonna, fleshing out choruses since the mid 1980s. There's more than a little bit of Madonna in De Lory's voice, at once fragile and vulnerable, yet still powerful, with a gospel-like yearning. On her own, De Lory has crafted artful pop on albums like Bliss and In the Glow, but she also tends toward the mystical and began incorporating Sanskrit mantras or Kirtans into her songs, a tact culminated on The Lover & the Beloved, a full-fledged Mantra journey. De Lory draws from the golden oldies of mantras, including "Hare Krishna," but revs them up with electronica beats, verse-chorus arrangements, multi-tracked vocals, and electronic textures sprinkled in with the sitars and tablas. Cameron Stone weaves his processed cello through De Lory's melodies and harmonium in serpentine rivulets, tying together the tablas of Girish Gambhira and the answering chants of Kirtan singer, Dave Stringer. Endowed with the materiel girl's sense of pop form and irresistible hooks, De Lory posits a confluence between pop and spiritual music, in which a repeated chorus has the same mantric effect as a chant. Her chants could be hymns to Krishna or a plea to a lover, but they are equally ecstatic and powerful. --John Diliberto

Album Description

These Sanskrit mantras bubble with a groove and atmosphere that takes tradition to heaven and back. Donna's voice resonates with ether and earth, beauty that asks you to join in, become one with the sound of deep celebration.

5 out of 5 stars WOW.......2007-06-26

This is a wonderful CD of chants that are both up to date and ancient at the same time. It is calming to the soul to listen to, and later in the day you will find youself chanting the words.....

5 out of 5 stars Soothing. Peaceful. .......2006-09-12

I love all these songs! Soothing and tranquil.

They last a long time which is perfect for use as background music while working or while chatting with friends.

It makes it easier to relax to the melody, let your cares float away as the music wraps around you.
It's one of my favorites, I'm so glad I took a chance and got this one:)

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Soulful Yoga Music.......2006-03-18

Donna De Lory has a beautiful, soulful voice and her music is perfect to practice yoga to or to unwind and get into that zenlike spirit. I ordered the rest of her CDS.

5 out of 5 stars brilliant masterpiece.......2005-09-12

This album is a brilliant masterpiece. Extremely uncommon music, farly outrunning the present. A listener is experiencing a deep feeling of being, also as each piece here, so long, is being changed several times in movement and style. At this web page the short mp3 shows are only presented in one such a style and movement, more torrential but less oriental. The most varied piece is the last seventh: Govinda Jaya Jaya (Mac Quayle Mix). And what's more, the box for the CD is not the traditional plastic, but it is made quite else and I do not mean to disclose, how. For me it was an eye-opener and I wish you the same excitment. It is no lesser masterpiece than the music itself. So I recommend this album to everybody and thank the authors very much for this great experience. You're real masters.

5 out of 5 stars Just love it!.......2005-04-11

A lovely album. Donna brings a sense of creativity, melody and bkathi (devotion) to each of the songs. It starts with a catchy Ganapathi OM, continuing with the same catchiness with Om Namah Shivaya. He Ma Durga brings out the delicacy of her voice. I loved Govinda Jaya Jaya, which is ideal for a group chant that brings a lot of energy into the singing.

I found all the songs to be melodious. The lyrics are simple for anyone to remember easily. The tune is catchy and lingers on after listening. There is a nice blend of western and Indian instruments providing soothing background music. As in many Indian songs/chants, you will find repetition within each song, which is a nice thing. You probably will not notice it as it encourages you to remember the tune/song much easily.

I use this album in my Yoga classes regularly and come away humming for a long time. Just love it!

1 out of 5 stars Not for the serious flautist.......2006-06-10

Most of the tracks on this CD consist of saccharine fluff, such as Disney, show-tunes, etc. If I buy a flute recording, I want to hear some serious music, not this ghastly schmaltz. And I hate to say it, I'm not a huge fan of Galway's playing style. It's too light and airy, just on the edge of going into overtones. He overuses his vibrato, especially on the higher notes. When you want them to just smoothly soar with rich tone, they just sort of flutter about. He does have impeccable technique and speed, but his tone leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Seek out another artist!

5 out of 5 stars The Very Best of James Galway.......2005-09-23

Really is one of the best of James Galway, if not the very best. Easy listening, soothing, relaxing - easy to enjoy

3 out of 5 stars Lightweight.......2005-08-24

Admirers of James Galway as a superb classical flutist, of whom I am one, should be forewarned that this 2002 release has been packaged by the mass merchandisers for the "crossover" crowd and the mass market: there's slim pickin's here for serious music lovers. The first CD contains brief, lightweight classical "hits" in "arranged" versions, basically encore bonbons, while almost the entire second CD is devoted to ephemeral, forgettable pop fluff. There's not much of substance here; given Galway's vast (over 50 recordings) discography, the classical music lover would be well advised to look elsewhere.

This "special edition" album follow-up to Mandy Moore's debut So Real is heavy on sighing ballads, both new and from the earlier disc. I Wanna Be with You exists mainly to ride the success of its title single, which opens and closes the album in original and dance versions. Two inferior Wade Robson remixes (of "Candy" and "So Real") pad the CD, as do most of the previously unreleased tracks; the best cut here is So Real's sweet "Walk Me Home." Moore fans will be happy to own this, but her first album remains the better of her releases. --Rickey Wright

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I Wanna Be With You.......2006-01-19

"I Wanna Be With You", is a special edition album to her first album debut, "So Real", and with this album, there are both new and old tunes. The hit single, "I Wanna Be With You", is the only song that's released from this album to ever be played on the radio, and it is a very beautiful song, as well. The rest of the songs on this album are wonderfully recorded and beautifully remixed!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2005-07-10

Suprisingly, this cd is really good for pop. I think the best song on the cd is 'your face' it's just unlike any of the other songs. It's very beautiful and passionate. Mandy Moore really does have some talent, and she doesn't get enough credit. If you're in a pop mood, BUY THIS CD! :)

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good..........2005-04-13

I wasn't really feeling the first 5 tracks, but as I soon as I got to the rest I started to get into it more. Maybe if I bought this album 5 years ago, it would have been different. Gosh, it's been a long time. Now when I look as those pictures with Many with blonde hair, she looks younger. Time flies so fast. Overall, I like the songs "I like It", "Candy", "Walk Me Home", "Lock your Heart", and "So Real".

4 out of 5 stars If At First You Don't Succeed... Make A Second Version.......2004-09-22

Mandy Moore made her debut at the age of fifteen, in the same year that other pop singers like Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears made their debuts. Like Jessica, Mandy's debut was more innocent in nature then the other so-called "pop princesses" though the album, "So Real" did not get much attention. Because of this, Mandy released a "special edition" album, entitled "I Wanna Be With You" the year after. This album contained some new songs, some from her first album and a couple of remixes. Normally, a move like this would not work very well but the album is still great, especially if (like me) you have not heard the original debut. Mandy's vocals are more high-pitched and not as strong as other singers but they suit her style impeccably, for the most part anyway.

The album begins with a new song, the title track, "I Wanna Be With You". This is a sweet, breathy ballad that fits well with Mandy's voice. The song really doesn't have anything new to say but it is sung so sweetly that it really does not matter. The vocals during the bridge are not quite as strong as I would have liked but they sound nice nevertheless. Next up is another new song, "Everything My Heart Desires", an upbeat track that comes a little too close to overshadowing Mandy's vocals in the chorus. Lyrically it could use some work. Most would think that Mandy does not have a strong enough voice for this style of song but she actually manages to get through and does a great job. The last four lines appeal to me for some reason though I'm not sure why. ("The best thing underneath the stars, you're everything my heart desires. Don't change, stay the way you are, you're everything my heart desires").

"Want You Back" follows and begins beautifully, once again showcasing Mandy's breathy vocals. The vocals in the chorus sound a little off to me but that does not take away too much from the quality of the song. The part towards the end of the song, where Mandy sings the chorus but not quite as breathily (you'll understand when you hear the song) sounds particularly great. Up next is "The Way To My Heart" which is enjoyable but more forgettable then most of the rest of the material on this album. Mandy's vocals are actually a little stronger in this song, probably because it was not taken from her debut. The song is nice enough and pleasant to listen to but does not stand out. After that comes the first of three remixes. This time it is the remix of "So Real", a song I have never particularly been a fan of. However, the background music in this song makes it sound great. Mandy sounds particularly young in this song and the lyrics aren't great but it is still a quality remix.

Next comes two of my personal favourites, "Lock Me In Your Heart" and "Walk Me Home", both of which were on Mandy's first album. I actually found "Lock Me In Your Heart" quite irritating and cheesy at first but it quickly won me over. The way Mandy sang this song was extremely sweet and beautiful. The song borders on being too repetitive but never quite gets there. Instead, Mandy's breathy vocals are once again showcased wonderfully and the lyrics are not nearly as bad as I initially thought. I first heard "Walk Me Home" on an episode of Lizzie McGuire, without knowing that it was Mandy Moore. I loved the song but had no idea what it was called or who it was by. So, I of course was surprised when I bought this album and found it on here. This song is probably one of the best in terms of lyrical quality as well as showcasing Mandy's innocent vocals.

Up next is the mildly annoying "I Like It". This song is quite weak vocally and does not suit Mandy at all. This song probably wouldn't have been so bad if the vocals had fit better with the beat. The lyrics are also quite repetitive, mostly in the chorus, and the song is at least a minute too long. The original version of "So Real" follows and while this version is pretty good, I actually prefer the remix that appeared earlier in the album. I do still like the way Mandy sings the line "I just can't let you go" during the chorus. After that comes a remix of Mandy's single, "Candy". I also disliked this song at first but it grew on me. Mandy sounds quite off in several places (when she sings "me", it sounds like "may") but the chorus sounds great and is what got me to like this song in the first place. A touching ballad, "Your Face" comes next and though Mandy's voice is not strong enough for this kind of song, she still manages to make it great. The lyrics are especially beautiful. Lastly there is a remix of the title track. This is a nice addition but probably could have been left off in favour of something more original.

Overall Mark: 4/5

Despite the lack of recognition Mandy got from her original debut, she manages to bounce back with this entertaining version. What Mandy lacks in vocal strength, she makes up for solely by choosing the right material to show off her voice. The major issue I have with this album is that there are only ten real songs, as two of them show up in duplicates ("So Real" and the title track). While the remixes aren't bad, it probably would have been better to include only one version of each of these as well a couple more new songs. Nevertheless, with this album, Mandy proves that she can provide a great album and can stand on her own against other pop singers. Mandy's second attempt at a debut proves to be consistent as well as great.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Pop Record.......2004-08-25

This has definitely got to be one of my most treasured albums. I enjoy nearly every track on it & I feel that this CD is full of good pop tracks. Miss Moore's second U.S. single, "I Wanna Be With You", was a smash hit. Its lyrics are beautiful & they really touch the heart. Moore's vocals are angelic, breathy, & passionate. The music itself is wavy, relaxing, gentle, tender, heavenly; etc. A beautiful love ballad & one of the best songs in the world. Very radio-friendly. This particular CD is a Special Edtion of the platinum-certified MM debut record, "So Real", & contains four tracks from it: "Lock Me In Your Heart", "Walk Me Home" (Moore's third American single), "I Like It", & the Australian hit, "So Real". Three remixed Moore singles as well: "Candy" (Wade Robson Remix), "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix), & "I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix). The five newer songs on here (including "I Wanna Be With You") are all amazing! They're so incredible. It's a shame that none of the other four were released to radio-play. "Everything My Heart Desires" is a great dance-pop track & can put nearly anyone in a feel-good mood. Moore's voice sounds innocent-like; yet the slightest bit smokey because of some of her lower-keyed & funky vocals. "Want You Back" is a ballad most teenagers & young adults can relate to. It's about breaking up with someone & the regret & sorrow that follows afterwords. Wondering if your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend still has love feelings for you. "The Way To My Heart" completely blew myself away when I first listened to the entire track. I adore how the tune of the song changes into more of a positive & glad one towards the end of it. Its words are rather corny...yet they speak of truth when it comes to loving someone. Mandy sings this awesomely. Oh my goodness..."Your Face" is the eleventh track on the disc & Moore has received a massive amount of good critical discussion involving the powerful vocal range delivered here. "Your Face" is quite romantic with its sentences drenched in purity & Mandy, once more, uses the angel whispers within her extraordinary talent. Magnificant song! The best songs from this fantastic love album are "I Wanna Be With You", "Everything My Heart Desires", "Want You Back, "The Way To My Heart", "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix), "Walk Me Home", "I Like It", "So Real", & "Your Face".

Most certainly, this CD is a better music offering than the CD, "So Real". It's even greater than Moore's official sophomore self-titled CD. The gold-selling & Middle-Eastern-oriented, "Mandy Moore". And believe me...that's awfully difficult to beat.

"I Wanna Be With You" (Special Edition) featuring the smash, "I Wanna Be With You", & the three revamped singles, "I Wanna Be With You (Soul Solution Remix), "Candy" (Wade Robson Remix), & "So Real" (Wade Robson Remix).

Album Description

Kona, Hawaii: think lush natural landscapes, divine inspiration and kids with nothing to do except find the next rage and invent slicker ways to pick up girls. Add metal and rock/dancehall influences to Hawaiian spirit, humor and ridiculously good looks - and you got Pepper. "Give'n It" was originally recorded in late 1997 in the only studio that existed in Kona at the time. Pepper caught the attention of fans from all corners, particularly Volcom Entertainment. After packing up all their belongings and heading to California, Pepper scored dates with established artists like Born Jamericans, Shaggy, Eek-A-Mouse, Burning Spear, Pato Banton & Secret Hate, were featured on XBox and Transworld Surf & Snow games, and played an entire run on the Warped Tour 2001, paying their dues by building the stage and pumping their signature Kona-dub-rock into the hearts of fans from state to state. It is edgy, lush, rocking, melodic, innovative, heart-grabbing and a good ride. It is Pepper.

3 out of 5 stars Fun music, but not very original.......2006-12-15

I realize I'm giving this three stars and everyone else has given it five. You'll have to decide for yourself, but I think my score is more justified. Pepper is a fun band with a classic "feel-good" ska/reggae/punk sound ... like Sublime as others have noted. But if you are, or where, a Sublime fan you will ultimately find Pepper disappointing. Not because they are bad, in fact they are pretty fun, but because they never get beyond "fun." Sublime had a certain edge (mostly misogynistic), and unpredictability that Pepper lacks. Maybe with time they'll move past repetitive imitation and find something that makes them unique and interesting. I imagine there ought to be something unique about living and working in Kona?

Don't take all this as a negative review. As long as you don't expect too much (and who really expects a CD to change their life?), Pepper is a good listen. I recommend you try it if you enjoy Sublime and need something new to listen to.

5 out of 5 stars Hidden Treasure.......2006-03-29

I had never heard of Pepper until I was in Hawaii this last week and saw them at the Waikiki Shell with 311. They were an awesome band to see live, and if your looking for a sound that isn't blared all over the radio these guys are it. They do definetly remind me of Sublime, but with thier own Hawaiian twist. I recommend thier music to anyone. They should be on tour this summer with 311 so go and check them out.

5 out of 5 stars Don't know what you're missing.......2005-03-30

Pepper is one of the sickest bands out there. I finally got to see them in concert on Saturday the 26th. I have all their CD's but it was awesome to see them in concert. You WILL NOT be disappointed with Pepper.

5 out of 5 stars Darren.......2004-11-07

Ok ive heard some of they're stuff and ive read the editors description of Kona Hawaii, and seeing that ive been there hand have hung out with the locals of the town, its all very true. I am about to purchase this album because i really love the reggea scene that i saw while I was in Kona.

5 out of 5 stars Brad Nowell may be dead, but his musical influence lives on........2003-10-31

For everyone who was bummed when Sublime ended, your prayers have been answered. This band has a great sound to them and is similar to Sublime and Slightly stoopid. Keep an open mind and you'll find there is alot of music out there to enjoy.

Album Description

In just their few short years of existence, Combichrist has become one of the most iconic bands in the electronic music genre. After finishing up their tour in support of KMFDM in the fall of 2006, Combichrist earned even more notoriety among fans of industrial rock who had previously never heard of them. With an ever growing army of fans, Combichrist is poised to release What The Fuck Is Wrong With You People?, their newest album in 2007. Featuring last year's break out single, "Get Your Body Beat," the album is an explosive barrage of corrosive beats, leering vocals, and acidic melodies. WTFIWWYP? is a high energy, adrenaline charged piece of sonic battery. If you don't find yourself sweaty, naked, out of breath, and bleeding by the time the album is finished, you weren't listening!

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the money........2007-05-11

I am highly unimpressed. This album is not worth 5 dollars. I was really excited when i heard this was being realeased. Just to be dissapointed, the songs are boring.. very boring... Actually, i didnt like any of the songs except Brain Bypass and Get your Body Beat....

My advice, don't buy this album.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing...........2007-04-27

After Everybody Hates You I was expecting a less drunken sound. Sure some tracks will fill the floors and get bodies moving but this needs to be heard outside the clubs.

4 out of 5 stars Combichrist keeps evolving..........2007-04-25

I agree w/ the review below, so what if they go in a different direction. There are at least 5 songs that are in the spirit of EHY, and besides, their EP's seem more techno than EHY or JoG, so it's not like they've been doing the same thing for 5 years now.
The double album second CD is also a great treat, continually mixed, not as mellow as Everybody Hates You's second CD.

4 out of 5 stars Andy knows what he's doing........2007-04-19

Combichrist is in one of those spaces right now where they are probably becoming to popular for the elitists in the industrial scene to like anymore, but not quite popular enough outside of it yet either. However, I doubt this bothers Mr. Andy Pelgua, mastermind behind Combichrist and several other electronic projects.
You see, i'm pretty sure he has no BS illusions about being a dark poet or tortured, or overly self important as alot of groups in the ebm genre tend to get. I'm willing to bet he knows that he's a party band. Combichrist is all about the "get crazy" element of things.
A few parts of this album come off as angry, but even if its a party hard ebm group, its still hard ebm. However a great deal of it(at least to me) feels tongue in check enough to pass though. Essentially, if VNV are supposed to be the spiritual successors of Front 242, Combichrist is probably the successor to something like the Revolting Cocks.
People expecting yet another "everybody hates you" are probably in for some disapointment. Less goofy samples, more straight vocals on this one. At places however it does seem a bit less Combichrist and more like a harder version of one of his other bands, Icon of Coil, or more like his pre-Everybody Hates You Combichrist work from the album "the Joy of Gunz", except of cours with more straight up vocals. Alot of people will probably be angry about the changes however, but I think it would be more boring if he had just done the same album over and over. You can at least tell he's making some progress, and breathing some fun into the often stale genre of ebm style industrial.

2 out of 5 stars Meh.......2007-04-09

I really wanted this album to be brilliant. Instead it's just simply "okay". It's hard to tell what Andy was shooting for - gone are the straight-up simple beat-heavy tracks of his last album - and gone are the harsher sounds of his earlier work. It's like he couldn't decide if he wanted to be more hardcore or more mainstream so instead he ends up being neither. I so badly want this album to kill on the dance floor but I'm afraid the best it's going to do is fade unceremoniously. Meh.
