Saw this group live and was so impressed I bought their cd...it was wonderful. Very melodic, very celtic. Not as loose as the Pogues, but equally enjoyable.

Great Jig Punk!.......2002-03-06

I've seen the Prodigals several times live, and the mix of traditional and modern styles is at first a little befuddling, then completely addictive. Dreaming is their best cd yet (although Go On is great too). It's one of those cds that you put in and listen to all the way through.. you won't want to skip through this one. It's become my favorite album by far!

I've seen all of their concerts in persoon siince i was born. The band is the best. I like DREAMING IN HELL'S KITCHEN the BEST. These guys are so good. I would kill myself to have all of their cd's.

A Good Album, but Less Energy than Live.......2001-11-01

I bought this album while listening to the Prodigals at the Dublin Irish and Scottish Festival. If you haven't been lucky enough to catch The Prodgals in concert, their live shows are amazing. When I got back to the car I was somewhat dismayed to find out that the album is much more mellow than the live act. The highest energy tracks on the album (Jackie Hall, Out of Mind) barely match the mellowest part of the concert. After listening to the album for several days, I realized that it was a great album in it's own right. When taken without the expectation of an almost hard-rock energy, it's a very nice work. I highly recommend this album to anyone seeking music that is very obviously traditional whilst still having an edge. A note to all the bass players, some of the lines are impressive, try the riff that starts track 6 (Jackie Hall).

Another Million Dollar Dream masterpiece.......2006-01-10

Andre Nickatina has been releasing classic albums on his label Million Dollar Dream for quite a while now. This is the label's first compillation, and it lives up to the incredibly high standarts set by King Nicky's solo albums. As usual, this album is different than any other rap album, especially compilations. The production is just flawless, and the majority of it is handled by Nick Peace, who ones again proves he's one of the greatest and most original producers in the rap game. The music on this album is just different than anything on the market today. And that's the brilliance of Million Dollar Dream Records! Other than that, Some of the Bay Area's finest rappers are featured on the album: Mac Dre (R.I.P.), Cougnit (R.I.P.), Baldhead Rick, San Quinn, Mike Mashall, Saafir, Mr. Kee, Equipto and a few others. And unlike many compillations, each rapper brings his A-game. I couldn't finish this review without saying a thing about Andre Nickatina. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The man is a genius, a mastermind, and one of the greatest rappers EVER! He's smart, original, unique. He's got one of the best voices and deliveries you'll ever get to hear. He's not afraid to go to directions noone ever goes to - both musically AND lyrically. King Nicky is on about half of the songs on the album, and of course, the songs he's on are the best ones on the album. Some will just blow your mind, in their dopeness, originallity, deepness. For example, one of the best songs on the album, "4Th of July" is like part 2. of the song "Fears of a Coke Lord", but this time, it's told from the point of view of the Coke Lord himself, Andre's friend. Anoher thing that's so original and uniques is that all over tha album, you hear snipets from different movies (at the end or beginnings of the songs), who set the mood... Dre Dog is one of the most intelligent and bold rappers in the game, and he's an ARTIST. He's not a gangsta rapper, although some of his raps are hardcore - he's just a cat from the street trying to get his hustle on, trying to live the Million Dollar Dream. The man is a symbol of excellence, and he NEVER dissapoint. Cats like Nicky are a rarity in the rap industry. The man has a vision, and we should be glad we get a chance to hear about it.

Andre Nickatina is one of the greatest rappers ever. His beats and rhymes are dope, and also original. All of his albums are classics that you will not want to stop listening to. Hell's kitchen is awesome, but if you come across any of his other albums in the store, buy them. Forget all those mainstream wannabe rappers, this is a true gangsta.

andre nickatina is truly one of the most hidden talents in the music industry. with this record he displays his talents. this is one of the best records ever made. his top tracks include "ayo" , "hell's kitchen" , & "bid'ness brains. my advise to first time listeners and lifetime collectors is to buy this cd now. fifteen bucks is a steal for his work. thats it.

good comeback attempt.......2003-12-19

This was Lisa Lisa & cult jam's comeback attempt. On the one hand Full Force still produced it, on the other C'N'C Music factory did the rest. Somehow the two production teams don't seem to fit together. You have "old" LIsa Lisa style plus a "new" style that basically sounds like everything CNC did. A very good ballad is "Forever". Apart from that sometimes the album really lacks individualism.

this is one album that is definately going down in history as a real classic. this album has everything from hiphop, funk, drum n bass, downtempo, upbeat, chill, hardcore, whatever... it's all good. i've sampled some of their other albums but none of them come close to Hell's Kitchen. if you're into the drum n' bass and underground hiphop fusion type of sh*t, then this is the album to get. just get it. now. u will fall in love with it. i guarantee it... or your money back.

If you're looking For Jungle this Isn't For you.......2004-01-25

I bought this thinking that it would be some hard drum'n bass
like Ming & Fs's other albums. I am not really into rap and thats what every song on this cd is. It is way more hip hop
than jungle...if thats what you like then you will really love this album because its a breath of fresh air from all the other
crap thats out there. However, if jungle or drum'n bass is what you're looking for, then I'd suggest grabbing some Reid Speed or an Ed Rush album.

ABSITIVELY POSULUTELY DOPE.......2001-11-17

I was lucky enough not only to see Ming+FS at a show but also to catch one of their toss outs. I was so impressed I decided to actually buy a released album, something I rarely do because the majority of what you can buy is (bad) compared to cd's you can get at shows. I've only owned this cd for 2 days and I honestly think I must have listened to it at least 40 times already. THIS CD IS (...) AWESOME! If you don't own it already you either have a mental imbalance or must be dead.

This truly is a great album. As a devoted fan of both techno (especially jungle/drum & bass) and hip-hop, I found Ming & FS expertly tying both styles together without watering down either of them.

With Hell's Kitchen, Ming & FS prove to be expert producers of underground-flavored hip-hop ("U Ni Son", "CLS", "King's County"), jungle ("Brain Dead Amphibian Twins", "Rock Higher"), even acid jazz ("Bonus Round"), and big beat-style breaks ("Hijack the Disco").

All in all, I'd say this is a superb album. The beats may get a bit tiresome after a while, though. I blame this not on Ming & FS but on the very natures of big beat and jungle themselves, which (in my mind) are not as subtle and layered as, say, IDM or ambient. But overall very entertaining--I'm sure Ming & FS' signature "junkyard" style will soon become heard everywhere as the group gains popularity.

Hear Lisa Lisa At Her Finest.......2000-07-17

This album shocked me. I was a fan of Lisa Lisa's pop-dance sound from the mid to late 80s (I Wonder If I Take You Home, Head to Toe, etc) but I was totally blown away with this album. There are cool C & C produced dance tracks(Let The Beat Hit Em and Something About Love are the standouts) but there are also amazing soul vocals by the woman that cut to the heart (Don't Say Goodbye and a fantastic take on the Isley Brothers' Sensuality).If you are a Lisa Lisa fan and this isn't part of your collection, it should be. BUY IT!
