5 out of 5 stars More hardcore battle rhymes from Corleone.......2000-06-16

This guy is the Michael Jordan of rap--he has no weaknesses. In fact, the only thing I can criticize about this single is the production. Roc Raida could have done better, but having to produce a track to match the tempo of previously recorded lyrics isn't easy and Raida does nice job. And Mike Heron could have made my head nod a little more, but i like the scratchin (reminiscent of something Primo would do). But I'm just nitpicking, because Rawkus made it so difficult to find flaws here.

As far as the lyrics are concerned, Big L could kick rhymes over a toe tap and make it sound phenomenal. His style is similar to what you would hear from Nas, AZ, Jay-Z and Biggie early in their careers--raw lyrical precision. ....I can't wait for the LP. R.I.P. Big L

1 out of 5 stars Flamboyantly fu*cking misinformed........2005-08-10

Hey, Elio... you're wrong on two counts: The Scissor Sisters are a novelty band (not hot), and they aren't British. You are flamboyantly fu*cking misinformed.

5 out of 5 stars hmm...........2005-03-16

when haven't the psb produced great music.
half the artists out there, are forgotten in a couple years.
they've been around for ages.. and are here to stay.
i have two words.. and 5 stars...

get it.

3 out of 5 stars Flamboyantly Flat.......2004-05-28

Another boring single from PSB and guess what? sounds like everything else they've ever released!
The only reason I bought CD2 was for the remixes.
Tomcraft mix was O.K, nothing special or NEW, but I absolutely loved the Scissor Sisters mix, whom I think are the hottest band to come out of the U.K in the past year....

5 out of 5 stars Another Superb Single from the PSB.......2004-05-28

I am really going to miss PSB when they stop making new music. They are so consistent in quality and style. I really like the cathiness of this tune (along with their other single Miracles). If you are a big PSB fan like me, you will not be disappointed. But this is a great song, I just wonder why we dont here it on the Hip-Hop infected pop stations.

4 out of 5 stars Missing Something!.......2004-04-20

This CD would be PERFECT if it included DJ Hell's "West End Girls" Remix. It's only available on the 12". So if you're hardcore into PSB you'll have to find it! It does the original justice. It sits around 125 bpm. It's perfect for club play and really nice to hear the old stuff new again! Much like Erasures "Oh L'amour" remixes!

5 out of 5 stars You're So Flamboyant.......2005-06-16

I could listen to this song over and over again. It has the techno pop feel that all Pet Shop Boys have. I have never come across a PSB song that I didn't like. I first learned of "Flamboyant" when it was featured on the PopArt CD. It's a great song.

4 out of 5 stars Pet Shop Boys B-side alert!.......2004-05-22

Once again Neil & Pete outdo a great single, "Flamboyant" (a slightly different version than the one on PopArt I might add..) with "I Didn't Get Where I am Today": all sounding like a campy Electronic/New Order song with lots of drive & upbeat choruses. I played it at a pool party recently and everyone starting making 80's new-wave movements on the dance floor & asking me "What is this?! It's the Pet Shop Boys?"

Slightly off center & better for it.

Buy this for the b-side, it's a fantastic summer song.

4 out of 5 stars Just like Wine..........2004-05-17

I believe the PSB hold the secret to the perfect pop song, and that's a good thing. After more than 20 years on the scene, they still deliver the goods. "Flamboyant", the first track on this 2 track single the boys show all the "neo" new wave kids how it's done. Atmospheric keys, pulsing beat and wonderful lyrics dominate the track, it will surely leave you wanting more. "I didn't get where I am today", the second track is an obvious outake from their "Release" record. The "feel" and performance of the track gives it all out. Guitars, drums and rock delivery on vocals show the boys can do it. For any band coming out of the 80's to still be relevant and valued as a mayor force today, they have to be original and exciting. The Pet Shop Boys are still kings.

5 out of 5 stars "You Live in a World of Excess.".......2004-04-10

"Flamboyant" is Pet Shop Boys' second single off their "PopArt" retrospective, and it's already the duo's 35th single to hit the Top 20 in the U.K. A funny, witty critique on celebrities who hunger for media attention (heads-up, J.Lo), this memorable single is co-produced by Tomcraft, who provides a welcome electro feel. Fans who are already familiar with "Shameless" and "How Can You Expect to Be Taken Seriously" will get plenty of kicks out of this single. It should also be noted that this track has been slightly remixed, so this version differs from the album mix off "PopArt." The b-side is "I Didn't Get Where I Am Today," which was originally recorded for the 2002 "Release" album. Armed with a retro-60's groove, this track has a rock edge, featuring Johnny Marr on guitar and sampling "Father's Name Was Dad" by Fire. It's a bit odd that a duo as original as PSB would sample somebody else's work, but "I Didn't Get Where I Am Today" is a catchy track that's strong enough to be released as a single by itself. Though this CD has only two tracks, "Flamboyant" still comes highly recommended.

                Album Description

The Houston Swing Engine bad boys are back to shake the ground again with an evil new album ! The Tiger Flamboyant , the band's second full-length is the early follow-up to the acclaimed The Smell Of Horses. Raw energy, 70's-inspired riffs, punk attitude and worthless lyrics are still on the menu, but the unreliable punks of HSE have this time taken the time to settle the songs before recording. With Mr. Serge Morattel (Knut, Brazen, Tantrum) as engineer, the production of The Tiger Flamboyant has taken the band to a further step. 11 gorgeous new tracks - fame has never been so close ! If you need any names, we can help saying harmonies are reminders of Queens of the Stone Age or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, riffs are sometimes close to Kyuss and Fu Manchu, energy is courtesy of Dead Kennedys or Refused, and inspiration is Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Quicksand and Black Flag among others. RR Records. 2006.
