Product Description
Children have a natural ability to learn multiple languages easily. Studies show that from birth to age 12, a child's brain is open to assimilate and retain other languages. With repeat exposure to another language, your child's mental develpment will be enriched and carry over into all aspects of learning. This entire CD has been sung only in Spanish to immerse the child fully in the language. This method has been proven to be the most effective way to teach secondary languages. Nursery rhyme songs are a perfect way to introduce or continue developing another language in a familiar setting. Children will recognize the tunes and be able to make a connection with what they are singing. The tempo of these songs has been slowed down slightly so that the words are easy for children to hear and articulate themselves, in order to sing along. Written lyrics have also been included. Childhood development is extremely important! Adding additional languages in a fun, musical environment will only increases a child's capacity for knowledge.Customer Reviews:

Me Gusta Boca Beth!.......2007-05-18
The only issue I had with the CD, which kept it from getting 5 stars, is that the production quality could be better, and because of this it was sometimes hard to distinguish between B sounds and P sounds. A lyrics sheet for the parents would help this. But the kids didn't care - they love it, so therefore I do, too.

Singularly Hitting Their Mark.......2005-09-10
Pet Shop Boys beckon us to "c'mon and get happy".......2005-01-21
The album itself is a rather imbalanced affair that even Neil and Chris admit is too long an album. The first half of the album follows the latin theme with its thundering drums courtesy of percussion troupe Sheboom. Tracks "discoteca" and "single" Neil sings snippets in Spanish asking "hay una discoteca por aqui?". After the sunny up-tempo "Se A vida E (thjats the way life is)" the Pets get stuck in their old euro groove and the latter half of the album is pedestrian PSB. The songs are still enjoyable though and most PSB fans will enjoy them. "The survivors" wouldn't be out of place on 1990's "Behaviour" with its shuffle rhythm and elegaic themes about AIDS and life while "Saturday Night forever" is PSB in classic disco mode.
Overall "Bilingual" is a good an album but may have left some of the PSB fan base disappointed arriving after the full-on dance pop explosion of "Very." Personally I enjoyed the album overall but do agree with other reviewers that "bilingual" was the first of their weaker albums. Coming from the Pet Shop Boys-its still a pretty solid release.
Best Moments: "Se A Vida E", "Red Letter Day", "Up against it" Weaker moments: "Before", "Electricity"
Whatever happened to..........2004-02-14

Then, in 1996, the album Bilingual was released, again following the by-then-well-established pattern of releasing a single, then follow-up with the album. This was an 'out' album; while most people always knew the alternative sexuality of the group, it had never been made explicit in the group's official publicity. Now, it had been. No surprise to anyone really (does anything coming from any band from the 80's really surprise anyone?).
The Pet Shop Boys managed to release an adequate album, alas, not their best work, and indeed some commentators, remembering the speculation that they were ready to retire, opined that retirement would have been better than this.
Not so, to be sure -- this is a perfectly serviceable album, good in many respects; the first single, Before, was released with a CD-movie of the video (very useful for those without Euro-MTV, American MTV long since having left the genre of the Pet Shop Boys behind and thus unlikely to carry their videos even when they win Euro-MTV awards). This song included many of the classic Pet Shop Boys elements -- poppy dance tune, double-edged lyrics, sample heavy feel, and toe-tapping rhythm.
The rest of the album is influenced obviously by the groups adventures in Latin America and Latin Europe during their concert tour, as well as holidays in the sun. Songs such as Discoteca and Se a vida é contain in their titles the influence; peppered throughout with almost spoken lines in Spanish (¿Hay una discoteca por acqui?), almost as if they had simply lifted lines from their Berlitz travel phrase book. But, in the traditional quirky Pet Shop Boys way, these fit in nicely with the tune.
The transitions on this album are interesting -- for the first time, the Pet Shop Boys didn't have their songs as isolated bits, but many instead flowed together--Discoteca and Single being two prime examples, which bleed together musically and lyrically, the end of Single being also the first line from Discoteca: (¿Hay una discoteca por acqui?).
Songs in the much more traditional upbeat, lyrically-cynical and clever, electronically pop include To step aside, A red letter day, and Saturday night forever. Tennant begins to allow himself some more direct social commentary in songs like The survivors, which can be understood on many levels. Of course, Tennant's lyrics on the album Behaviour poked fun at those celebrities who, because they have fame, suddenly start taking themselves seriously as experts on social concerns, so he is understandably cautious and understated in his own observations, which are usually very much rooted in his own, direct experiences.
As with many Pet Shop Boys albums, Bilingual had a follow-up single, Somewhere, which was not included on the album, but was on the special edition, limited release of the double-CD Bilingual. This second disc includes in addition to Somewhere remixes of several of the album cuts, as well as an additional b-side.
The songs Before, Single, and A red letter day charted variously around the world, but didn't catch hold and take top honours anywhere. Alas, the Pet Shop Boys looked like they were past it. But history has proven differently.
This is an essential album to anyone who wishes a complete Pet Shop Boys collection -- the special album only for those die-hard collectors who can spend extra on auction sites or some such to track it down, but one gains little musically from it. However, this album is for the most part a placeholder in the overall history of the Pet Shop Boys (for the historically inclined, perhaps it is the 'James Polk' of their albums, adequate but undistinguished, often forgotten, but still on the books).
Single Sputter stop.......2003-01-25
But how could they top a "Very" amazing record? The answer was, they could not. And having Atlantic records sign PSB after their much ballyhooed "Gay Marketing Division" probably set the banner far too high. It also came out after Neil Tennant's final open admittance to his sexuality. The "Community" had their new heroes and were going to squint down the microscope pretty damn hard when the CD came out.
"Bilingual" is not without its highpoints. The first three tracks hinted at a classic to be, but the attempts at Spanish musical thematics start wearing heavy by "Se a vida e" and it becomes a struggle afterwards to hold one's attention. Not only that, but after the musically soaring "Very," "Bilingual" comes off as tunefully flat and unispired.
Thank God for the lyrics, which have always been the PSB's strong suit. They keep "Bilingual" from falling below three stars. It is just, that from a band who I would rate 4 or 5 stars on the majority of their library, average is a disapointment.

What is this thing ?.......2007-06-12
So what is this edition ? How is it different from the other 6 (or so) editions you sell ? What exactly is on this CD, or on the Bonus CD?
The "product details" give me no clue, the "editorial review" gives no clue, and the rest of the information is ... oh wait, there is none.
There are links to tags, links to lists, links to what other people have bought, links to search suggestions, links to sponsored links, links to customer discussions, (beta), links to Amapedia (sic!), links to my recently viewed pages, links to similar items by category, links to music I should hear, links to "blowout music", links to your blog, links to my stuff, ... and links "So you'd like to ..."
Actually what I'd like to do is find out about *this* CD. It is a music album, it has tracks, why are they not listed?
I would like to find out what those tracks are so that I may decide whether I want to buy *this* album. You have already decided - you do not want me to buy this album, you want me to choose from the other myriad links on this page, and buy something else, anything else, anywhere else.
So, goodbye then Amazon, time was when it was fun S-h-o-pp-i-n-g here, when you had products, not links.
Oh: released in 2001 ?
That'll be the "Further Listening" version then. Can you click the "I own it" and "5 stars" boxes for me? Bye.

dance efforts went too much to their heads.......2007-07-22
Bilingual may be a strong point of discussion among many aspects, apart from being its worst crtisized, its also too much into the dance aspects and the electronical arrengements fit strongly with the "discoteca" ambient instead of the studio efforts and proffessional mature composition. The songs are very mellodic and still enjoyable for even casual listeners, having a techno dance flavour far away from the focused electropop applied in past albums. Also the sound experimentatons went too far to the point of being out of tune and uninspired, like the typical sign of desperation of putting internartional moods and lyrics, and the cheap rap combination in most lyrics, specially in the songs Single, Metamorphosis and Electricity. The two tracks that keep the album of being a disaster are Discoteca, one of my favorites of PSB in their whole career, a song that keeps a lot of originality and effort, and Se A Vida É, which stays very familiar with the sounds of Very, still very mellodic and comfortable. Even though, I have to admit that this album keeps some of the most catchy songs in their whole career.
In conclussion this album goes through a lot of points of discussion, some find it very mellodic, some out of tune, some as the best (certainly not the best) and some as the worst, still you should draw your own conclussions.
It's worth taking the time to dig for the gold, 3 1/2 stars........2004-04-08
"The Survivors" = is probably my favorite PSB track since, "Behavior". Fantastic melodies.
"Red Letter Day" = Even with some of the structure being fairly generic, it works... well.
"Se a Vida É" = Already mentioned above, but I would highly recommend to purchase the single for this track before, or along with, the album.
"To Step Aside" = Is a Solid Effort.
If you are interest in trying some post-"Very" straight-laced dance fair: buy the "Somewhere" single. The price is more than right for the phenomenal quality, and running time. The remixes are so distinctive, I listen to them consecutively every time and it never wears thin.
