DJ David Knapp brings on the diva anthems once again..........2005-08-08

Peak hour vocal fans rejoice. David Knapp does it again. On top of a handful of huge hits, you'll be introduced to some gems you may have missed otherwise. Inaya Day opens up with "Mine", a track I really want to seek out in it's full length form. The amazing Debby Holiday track is included is the Scotty K mix. The Darrin Friedman mix of Jahkey B is used, Cevin Fisher's mix of Luv2Luv (the best mix), and the Chad Jack mix of Vernessa Mitchell (hard track to get except on these types of compilations). The final track is an updated cover of Erasure's "Chains of Love," and the mix works so well I wish they would have just applied to Andy Bell's original vocals instead of having it rerecorded. I also wish some of the tracks had played out longer, for many of them are rather short on here. Track times:

After the massive success of DJ David Knapp's 2004 Soakin Wet, it was only a matter of time until Soakin Wet Volume 2 was released. I'm happy to say, the time is now! Here it is, perfectly pumped up, and all you have to do is press "Play." This CD, which is 70 minutes of non-stop energy, has such a terrific vibe, it will have you dancing the summer out in style. The set opens with the Jody Watley classic "Looking For A New Love" and Chus & Ceballos' remix takes the raw sexual level of her vocals to new heights. Other standouts include Georgie Porgie's "Let The Sunshine," Vernessa Mitchell's #1 hit "Accept Me," along with several other #1 hits that include "Most Precious Love" by Barbara Tucker and Chris Cox's remix of the Chic classic "Le Freak" featuring Norma Jean and Luci M. For those who recall dancing to "Le Freak" the first time around, let it be known that Norma & Luci's vocals were part of the fabulous Chic duo way back....well, you know when. The enthusiasm of this disc just keeps climbing with each track, closing out on Peter Presta's "The Latin Express," Filth E & Tha Rage's "Ain't No One," Funky Green Dogs' "Reach For Me," the phenomenal track "Shout," which is destined for greatness, all wrapping up magnificently with Knapp's mighty new mix of "Could It Be Magic" performed by Vic Chicola featuring Mickiyagi. This CD is derived from the hugely successful Soakin Wet parties that help raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. What better way to enjoy yourself while giving something back to a community that cares deeply about the welfare of those less fortunate? Soakin Wet Volume 2 is kind of like a wet dream...you're sorry it's over but can't wait to experience it again and again!

The HOTTEST songs and mixes-but songs are TOO short!!! .......2005-09-08

David Knapp does a party mix right by always focusing on peak hour diva anthems, and featuring many tracks otherwise not available on CD. Since that's the case, more than 4-5 minutes worth of each song would be nice for collectors. The longest version here is 7 minutes...still about 2 minutes shy of your standard club mix length. As for the music, things start with one of the numerous really BORING new mixes of Jody Watley's classic-I'm still not clear why such an uninteresting set of 2005 mixes ever saw the light of day. Huge hits follow from Georgie Porgie, GTS, Ceevox, Vernessa Mitchell, Sissaundra. There are also a handful of instrumentals (tracks 6,7), but they don't take away from the energy level and are relatively short. Since David Knapp jam packs one disc with so many anthems, it's about time someone enlists him for a TWO disc set so he can spread those tracks out to longer lengths. Even so, this disc is slammin', and you'll be listening over and over again. Track times:
