This collection is worthy of SIX stars! This is the most enjoyable, highest-quality Percy Faith collection I have seen. Not only is the collection about as "Ultimate" as you could desire, it brings back in glorious stereo quality some of my favorite albums. The various tracks from his "Young Lovers" series are utterly fantastic!!

This is it!.......2003-04-01

This is the best compilation of Mr. Faith's orchestrations I have seen yet. Some of the music on this CD I have heard on easy listening radio stations in the 1970s that I have not seen released on CD until this set came out, such as the lush and velvety rendition of Burt Bacharach's tune "Always Something There to Remind Me", with great strings and brass. This is a great set and well worth the money.

There are only four songs with James Galway. The way this recording is presented is misleading and buyers should be aware that this is NOT a joint effort between these two great artists.. I was totally disappointed. I think Henry Mancini is wonderful but was expecting to hear a collaboration. So if you're looking for flute music this isn't it. However it's a great collecton of Henry Mancini's work.

Too Good to Last.......2000-03-03

I heard this on PBS. Galway and Mancini may be two of the most talented musicians of our century. Galway for his complete mastery of the flute and Mancini for his ability to arrange , produce and in this instance direct the orchestra while Galway performs. They do several duets of a comical nature as well. This is important because it is one of Mancini's last efforts prior to his unfortunate passing.

I buy lots of lounge compilations. There's nothing worse than buying one and discovering that it's filled with mediocre selections or, worse yet, songs you have on other CDs. That's why I was so pleased with this two-disc set. Both discs are filled with above-average and interesting selections. Only one of the songs, by Tosca, was familiar to me. Add to that the used price of this set and it's a bargain. Varese/Water Music Records turns out some very good compilations, and this one is better than most. If you're a fan of the genre, but it!

THE ULTIMATE!!!.......2003-06-12

I bought this CD the day it came out and was surprised to see it in the record store! Nevertheless, I did not hesitate to purchase it, and am I glad I did...I'm still checking out the songs on the set, but believe me, they are everything that Watermusic Records' "Dinner at Eight" (which is starting to grow on me now), "Jazz Lounge 2" and "Cafe Roma" should have been...There's so many styles of Jazz and Lounge on this CD that you'll go crazy trying to find your groove or your favorite song!! And, boy, does this baby groove from ORG Lounge and Hilde Drange's (Slowpho) collaboration, to virtual unknowns such as Monlope, Sian, Ganeesh Collection and Mindel. This CD reaks of songs circa 2001-2003, none of that filler stiff from the 90s--and yeah, there's some stuff here you may have already heard or may not particularly care for--I, for one, absolutely loathe Montifiori Cocktail--who are these guys, anyway?!?! and "Indigo Blue" gets on my nerves everytime I hear it! But, alas, isn't that the thing with most comp CDs anyway...you're always gonna run into a couple of songs that don't belong and would spoil the entire set if it weren't for other songs there to overshadow them. Ultimate Lounge is right for all occasions...if you don't like this one, then we have a problem, Houston! GO OUT AND GET IT!!!

This is one weird cd. Take old classic rock songs and run them through the lounge-maching / bossa nova. Somehow it works out very well. Very smooth, very soothing, very tongue in cheek - definitely not too corny or cheesey. Throw it on and watch people's odd expressions!
