Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Good Trance, Regardless of Imperfections.......2005-03-25

This is a good trance mix. I have my problems with it, but they're not exactly the same as the problems the other reviewers have. I haven't heard any of the other trance mix usas so I don't really know how this one compares to them. And in reference to some of the tracks on this cd being old and overused on previous trance mixes, most of the tracks on this cd mark the first time I've heard them on a purchased cd. So, for those who have never heard most of the songs on this cd, this is a pretty frickin good mix. Magik Journey by Tiesto is not impressive, but after that things get good. Southern Sun is a definitive trance classic (Oak and Tiesto.... yeah). Drifting Away is a favorite of mine as well. The Sunlight track here is better than all the other versions I've heard elsewhere. It really puts the sauce on. Troy is alright. Tremble is great and shows off the mixer's skills. Great hard beat. Twisted is alright, if that's your type of thing. It's different from other tracks. Cafe Del Mar 2002 is awesome. I've heard versions of the song before and I've always loved the eerie humming in the backround. Another Day is a good track, but Armin Van Buren has MUCH better stuff out there. Genie is CRAZY. I didn't know how I felt about it at first but it's really uplifting once you get used to it. Far From In Love is beautiful. One of my favorites. It has great vocals. However, there's a better version of this song on A Trip In Trance Volume 1, which is an amazing set. And then we get to Silence. Everyone knows Silence is the classic of all classics when it comes to trance music. I'm happy it's on this cd. It's definitely shortened, but I love the song dearly. The Children mix here doesn't fit well, and it doesn't do the original Robert Miles classic justice. It's All For Love is alright, but nothing too impressive. Beachball is one of the all-time trance greats as well, but the version on this cd is not as good as others that I've heard. Look for the Cruising version of Beachball, or check out Millenium Trance Volume 3 for another really good version of it. I Don't Wanna Stop is classic ATB, if you know what I mean, and it's a fair ending. It's chill enough to be respectable. This trance mix has some great cuts, but others force me to give this mix a 4 star rating. The mix really can't even compare with some of my other favorites, but Silence, Far From in Love, Sunlight, Drifting Away, Southern Sun, Tremble, and Cafe Del Mar or 5 star tracks that make this album worth buying.

1 out of 5 stars What happened to the Trance Mix USA 2 feel??.......2004-09-10

I've anticipated volume 4 for a while, largely in part to volume 3's horrible disapointing sound (see my review on that!). But when I saw it at Best Buy some time ago, I was... how should I put it...Scared!! What is going on? Somebody needs to write these people or something. If a cd is going to be that bad, don't drag the letters USA into it!! USA clubs play great trance, and it ain't this stuff!! Thanks to my own opinion and the opinion of other reviewers I have no intentions of getting this cd. I'll pray for volume 5's sake!

4 out of 5 stars Tries, but seams are starting to show.......2004-01-29

Don't get me wrong, this cd is great to listen to. But sadly this cd gets a bastardized review. I like Marc Et Claude's style(which helps it out), but these songs have been used in most of the cd's i already have . . . which makes them not so refreshing. The mixing is kinda "per track" unlike the first two albums; you can tell the shift from track to track- but it's not black and white so to speak. It's got good feel- and if you haven't a large collection of trance- it will sample your needs(b/c you wouldn't have heard alot from these songs yet). I also rated it higher because trance mix 3 was a joke compared to the first two, T.M.4 is better than three easily. Hopefully 5 will be smasher- otherwise the seams are showing and the style is fading. Still, if you have the others- you're gonna need this one.

3 out of 5 stars The first three were better.......2003-06-07

It's not as good as the 1st three, but it's alright. It's just that it sitll sounds like a normal trance compilation to me. I have been looking forward to seeing what volume four would be like, who would mix it and all. The first three volumes were cool. Volume one was mixed by ATB, volume two by Blank & Jones and volume three by Kay Cee. Now we have volume four mixed by Marc Et Claude. Songs include "Magik Journey" by DJ Tiesto, "Cafe Del Mar 2002" by Energy 52, "Drifting Away" by Lange featuring Skye, "Southern Sun" by Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto's remix of "Silence" by Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlin and more. Say, didn't they already do Tiesto's remix of "Silence" in volume two!?! Why'd they do it again? I know they use some of the songs from the past volumes and put them in upcoming albums, but they're all different remixes (volumes one and two both had Schiller's "Glockenspiel" in two different remixes). They're also a remake of the song "Children". This version by 4 Clubbers. It doesn't sound as similar as the version by Robert Miles, neither is it as good. There are a few good songs on here though. I like "Twisted" by Svenson & Gielen, "Sunlight" by DJ Sammy, "Beachball" by Nalin & Kane, "Magik Journey" by DJ Tiesto, "I Don't Wanna Stop" by Andre Tanneberger (a.k.a. ATB) and Paul Oakenfold's "Southern Sun". The Riva Remix of "Tremble" wasn't as good as the original version, I expected better. There's also Schiller's Remix of Sinead O'Connor's "Troy (The Phoenix From The Flame)". Better than volume three's. Overall, it's just a so-so album. If a volume five is to come out, let's hope it's better than this one.
