Rare Edwin Birdsong 12" Mix Makes This HOT!.......2006-03-28

"Win Tonight" was one of Edwin Birdsong's hottest records, and the full 12" mix is included here. This is a rare find, and definitely worth the CD price alone. This cut was popular around winter 1981 - early spring 1982, and was an especially popular cut in the Bronx, where it seemed to be on every radio ("box") I would pass whenever in the neighborhood. The unusual jazzy piano riffs and background vocals add to the exotic flavor of the cut, as well as some unusual drum tracks that seem to evoke a haunting, almost jungle-trance beat way ahead of its time. Indeed Edwin Birdsong was way ahead of his time, as the other hit he had in 1981, "Rapper Dapper Snapper", indicated - another really funky, jazzy, infectuous trancelike groove. Buy this CD!!

A True Salsoul Classic.......2005-11-20

I think this is the best in the "My Salsoul" series. Danny Krivits offers rare selections and mixes I've never heard before of "Let No Man Put Asunder" by First Choice. It is so worth the money. I highly suggest adding this to your collection. Love the artwork and little pamplet that comes inside.

I heard this in a dance music oriented store in San Francisco and had to buy it. The mix is great. You'll likely find some of the songs familiar, but they definitely aren't the same old, tired songs that labels like Rhino release over and over on their disco cd's. If you like "old school" disco/funk music, you'll like this disc. I felt like I was in a club circa 1980 (or so) all over again.

One thing puzzling: Every website seems to feature only the Japanese version of this disc (which is quite expensive). My local store had copies with a U.S. address on the artwork and a copyright date of 2000 which cost about 40% of what Amazon and other etailers want for the Japanese disc. It seems to me that if my local store can still get the U.S. version of this disc, Amazon and others should be able to get it as well. The only difference I can discern, based on Amazon's listing, is that the Japanese artwork is in full color. I can do without a full color cover to save $30.

this is the best of salsoul.......2004-04-14

i love this cd salsoul made some of the best disco soul back from 1975 to 1980 what i also like about this cd is that salsoul put a artist that i dont always find on the salsoul cds and that person is CAROL WILLIAMS one of the first artist singed to salsoul records.she also had one of the first 12 inch single to be released international that song was 'MORE'produced by legendary vince montana jr along with the salsoul orchestra i love the other salsoul artist for life but im a big fan of carol williams and now i see alot of complations with carol's club classic LOVE IS YOU like on this cd. love was sampled in the uk 2001 hit spiller if this aint love so im happy to carol carol williams be apart of the salsoul classics.............GREAT DISCO CD.

Which is better, this one ore the Night at the Playboy Mansion? Both are true jewels among nonstop dance mixes. This one's very classy disco indeed!

Like a child in a candy store, I pray for my mama for once piece more, sings Loleatta Holloway on the opening track. You won't need a mirror ball to dance. And how good does that Law and Order sound in instrumental! This cd contains three Loleatta's songs. I like that very much and she truly deserves all the attention.

It's like being in a candy store with Dimitri and Loleatta. And I pray for one piece more.

the first mixed cd of classic Salsoul Records.......2002-04-06

Labels such as Salsoul, Prelude and West End represented the disco era in the 70's. Salsoul has always been my favourite. This label included artists such as Inner Life, Salsoul Orchestra (Vince Montana) and Double Exposure. I've been waiting for a mixed cd of Salsoul Records for a long time and finally Dimitri's in the house! You will just flow with the music from the first song called "Seconds" by Salsoul Orchestra featuring Loleatta Holloway to the last "Let No Man Put Asunder" by First Choice. Some of these songs have never been out on cds. Among all of my disco music cds, this one has to be the best!
