This is my most favorite CD. If you like European style pop music you are going to love this CD.

Wow, I don't know what to begin with,i'll just put it this way, this would have been a better album that the first one if lead singer Vanessa Van Hermert was doing the whole voucals on this album, it's almost as if she dosen't excist in this album, and i have no idea who is that other female doing voucals and it's not really the same without Vanessa, it's like Iron Maiden without Bruce Dickinson although 2 diffrent types of music, and as far as i know that this band will be having a new singer and once this take place it won't be the same 4 strings i once liked due to the amazing voice of this young lady, music is excellent but you can scence that something is missing , i hope these guys realize it, this lovely sound if Vanessa is the key.

A STRIKINGLY VIBRANT FOLLOW-UP!!!.......2006-08-28

After listening to the first album, "Believe", there can be no mistake made about the hit status of such songs as "Take Me Away", "Revelation" or "Diving". Nevertheless, aside from these three songs, there was not much of anything going on on 4 Strings debut. Frankly, I felt sort of disappointed.... Yet having been convinced that not everyone is perfect, and yes, people CAN improve (their sound, their lyrics, etc.) I decided to give "Turn It Around" a chance....and boy let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed!!! Tracks such as "Turn It Around", the lead-off single, "Come Closer", "Crash and Burn" and "Living a Lie" are instant gems.... While the unbelievable trance quality of "Until You Love Me" (reminds me of Fragma) is just begging to be a future hit-single... Also what I feel makes the entire album edgier and vibrant, much more vibrant than "Believe", is the vast assortment of artists and moods that saturate the album. Despite the fact that "Turn It Around" does not comform to the sounds and rhythms of "Believe", it is nevertheless much wealthier and diverse in style.... something that will keep 4 Strings fans more than just mesmerized. . .

Sophmore slump.......2006-07-29

4 String's first album "Believe" has many great moments - well worth the purchase. I have to agree with the other 2 reviews though that this album is rather disappointing. To point out a few worthwhile listens here: "Until You Love Me" recalls the great feel of "Believe", and the single "Turn it Around" is good as well. "Free" is also not bad... You can find "Turn it Around" on collections by Ultra, so I'd recommend buying those before you purchase this album.

I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED .......2006-01-09

First of all, yes this album is not all great. Second yes, the album does not even give you information or the lyrics of the song, and third VANESSA is LEAVING 4 strings! yup you read right, this is very sad and I think that once Vanessa leaves, the 4 strings will be gone for good. TO bad though because they were doing good!

Better than Wake the Dead.......2006-01-30

I got this CD after purchasing Wake the Dead. This CD can't even be compared to their second album. Wake the Dead is good and a great piece of catchy hardcore, but this CD is just so much better. The breakdowns are brutal and so refreshing. It's good to know that there are still bands out there that play good hardcore like Comeback. These guys are great live, and I recommend that everyone should see them. Buy either albums, they are both good, but this one is booming.

this kid below me hates cbk, yet he posts as a "GC Fan". gimme a break. This, along with a few of my bane cds, is my favorite hardcore album. Thats pretty serious since i have over 500 cds, half of which are straight up hardcore. This album is fantastic, if you love melodic hardcore with melodies and breakdowns, this is the perfect album. Much better than Wake the Dead. Pick this up

YOu must truly sux if u like hardcore! only loser listen to these music. Even metal is a lot better. What a stupid music world u people live in. There this album doesn't even deserve a one much less a 5. I don't know why you would listen to this kind of music, i just don't get it, it just sux.

Another excellent dance vocal trance music!!.......2005-08-12

4 strings caught my attention when i first listened to her single 'let it rain'. Fantastic song, love it! Then i checked out her next single 'turn it around', another excellent dance tune. The music is super, very catchy, the vocal is fantastic, a sure must at the dance floor. This song has released with multiple mixes, but my favourites are the extended mix and the Dj 4 strings vocal mix. Check out her 2 new songs, available as 12" at this moment: 'sunrise', and 'until you love me'. Both songs are super! top notch! i can't wait for the cd singles to be released. 4 strings - man, you're good!

Music nice, words awful........2004-07-06

The background music is sweet, but the lyrics are dreadful. There's nothing wrong with her voice, the song just doesn't flow well. This has to be the worst single released by 4 Strings to date. I was eagerly awaiting their new CD, and still am, however their first choice for a single was not a good one. Let's hope the new album is not more of this. Don't pass up their CD Believe if you don't already have it. It has to be in the top 25 dance/trance albums of all time.

A difficult listen..........2003-09-25

What she recorded in the 60s is fantastic, and she's undoubtedly the one opera singer who crossed over into pop successfully, but her pitch problems are abundant here, and it makes this, and in fact, the entire Reference Recordings issues a difficult listen.

The Best Kept Secret.......2000-04-26

Alec Wilder is one of America's most unknown compser-lyricists. He is also one of the best. Even people in the know are only aware of "While We're Young", "I'll Be Around", and "It's So Peaceful in the Country". For years, I thought he only wrote ballads. This album, along with the sets by Marlene Ver Planck, Vic Juris, Marion McPartland, and Jackie and Roy Kral have opened my ears to the beauty and complex magic of Wilder's work. Loonis McGlohon is close to the tastiest accompanist in the business today and he keeps Ms. Farrell swinging. Anyone intersted in the finest American music needs to check out this set.

Joe Hutchinson, former frontman for L.A. glam heroes The Zeros, and crew (drummer Thom Sullivan of The Exies and bassist Glenn Hays of The Hutchinsons) kick out the hools and serve up a bunch of groov'n' new songs the whole universe can rock to. The swirling single "So Spaced Out" was #1 for several weeks on VH1/MTV's "Emerge" website and is currently climbing up Smithereen's Pat DiNizio's XM Radio "Unsigned" Show. Just found this effort a couple months back. after one or two listens I thought it had potential, but not very much. A few songs and hooks stood out but the songs didn't seem memorable. Then after about the fourth play ( over two weeks) it suddenly clicked. Melodies that seemingly weren't there appeared and they were good.....really good. Then the guitar started to click and the chops that were hidden in the mix before, starting sinking in....and it was good. Overall the album hits hard with lots of power-pop-type melodies, Hutch has a killer guitar tone, very sweet, and the rythm section is very musical, very tight. The melodies take a while to sink in, but then again the most lasting albums usually take a while to click. This is pop in it's purest and best form. The best cuts are the title track, "so spaced out" (with its funky wah and killer drums), the robust "Leaving Hollywood", "I don't belong" "something about you" (with a wonderful melody) and the slow burn of "Stay with Me". These are bonified killer melodies, and there is virtuallyu no filler to be had. I cannot say enough of how good this unheralded effort is. Production is bright and sparse...just guitar bass and drums. I'll wager this trio burns up the stage in live performances. I'll recommend this to anyone, even though I've just discovered it this Spring it's been this year's best pickup for my collection. Some may think this is formula, and it is..... it's Hutch's formula, the guy knocks it out of the park with this effort.

I buy a lot of power pop music. I am willing to sift through clunker songs and middle of the road production to find that one song that makes buying the album worth it. I thought surely I would find one such song on this album but I did not. As I listened, my thoughts were "Good, clear, production . . .definitely have the chops . . . have this pop formula down with good strummy guitars and crisp drum beats . . . . . " So from this detached, clinical, dissection I thought this album should be working. But I never heard a guitar hook or chorus that grabbed me or made me want to sing along - and the whole album is like that.
The thing is that I think if I heard these songs live in a club, I might be bowled over, but no energy or urgency translates off the record. To be fair, I am going to keep listening to it to see if it grows on me, but if you don't have the time to do this and your Amazon power pop dollars are limited, try something safer like The Churchills, The Tories, or classics like Big Star or The Records.

I bought this based on a great review and was very disappointed. The music is pleasant enough, and no songs stand out as bad or annoying, yet nothing really grabs you. Ten minutes after you have played it you would be hard pressed to remember any of it.

HUTCH equals MUCH !.......2002-06-18

This has got to be the best rock/pop CD to come along in quite some time. Not only does this band have the chops, but they have THE SONGS. The hooks are potent, the riffs are catchy, and the songwriting is consistent all the way through.

How many albums have you bought recently that you can actually play from beginning to end without getting bored? By the time you get to the last notes of "All The Money In The World" you'll want to press the repeat button to take it back to the top. I might even go as far as saying that songwriter-singer-guitarist Joe Hutchinson is the new Ray Davies or Pete Townsend.

"THE BEAST WITHIN", "ALL THE MONEY IN THE WORLD", "TURN IT AROUND", "SO SPACED OUT" and "LEAVING HOLLYWOOD" will find their way into your top ten list and park themselves there for a LONG, LONG TIME.

Some influences I can hear are Material Issue, The Who, Oasis, Rolling Stones, and other British Pop and 60's stylings. Hutch are the real deal... "TURN IT AROUND" is easily the BEST ALBUM OF 2002.

What an awesome music CD! The songs are fresh and thoughtful. The music is first class and the CD is impossible to categorize. Tones of rock, blues, country, and jazz. This is one of my favorite CD's. Kathy Smith is a well kept secret with a talent that can't be kept secret for long.

Turn It Around is a must CD for any true lover of music. There are such a variety of songs on this CD that it is really hard to classify the music of Kathy Smith into any specific category. I'm the kind of guy that listens to all different kinds of music without any real allegiance to a specific type like Country, Rock, or Jazz, etc. But really rather enjoy it all. And all is what I found on this CD. I've played it for lots of my friends since I got it in and all of them have really enjoyed it as well. And it's funny because some of them say they will only listen to Country, or only listen to Rock, or only listen to Jazz and I know what they like before I play it so I just put it in and don't tell them what it is and have yet to find anyone, regardless of their music preference, who hasn't tried to claim this angelic voice as one of their own.
