Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The first vinyl I ever owned.......2005-08-04

Yes, my opinion is somewhat biased. The year was 1982 and I was in garde 8 and in love with this album. I listen to this from time to time. It's not a classic, but its an excellent and enjoyable album. My rating is more sentimental and most Cliff fans would probably give it 3.5 stars. On a different note I find it interesting that Sir Cliff is virtually unknown in Canada, where I live now.

4 out of 5 stars Cliff Contemporary Sound.......2004-10-16

The Eighties saw the advent of the "Walkman" remember them? a tiny cassette player with headphones now put that into a song add Cliff's voice and you have Wired For Sound Cliff's second studio album of the Eighties produced by Alan Tarney it also features the top ten hit Daddy's Home as well as other great songs including the anthem like 'Cos I Love That Rock 'n' Roll and the beautiful Summer Rain and Better Than I Know Myself

4 out of 5 stars POP FUN, NOTHING OVERWHELMING.......2002-02-12

In reading the other reviews for this remastered edition of "Wired for Sound," I can see both sides of the coin. This is definitely not Cliff's best collection, but it is still representative of the chances Cliff was made (actually, forced) to take to try and succeed in the everchanging music world. This was the early 80s and technopop was on its way in, and Cliff along with his producer Alan Tarney, did their best to try and show that the not so young Richard still had rock in him. As always, though, it's his ballads that work the best. It's interesting to note that Cliff is responsible for the success of Christian singer/writer Chris Eaton, who has crafted some beautiful songs, including Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven." His contribution on this CD is one of the best songs, "Lost in a Lonely World." All in all, this is certainly worth adding to your Richard collection. "I'm Nearly Famous" remains the best, though!

4 out of 5 stars SIR CLIFF NEVER HAD A DOWN TURN.......2001-11-06

The previous review has a title "Back to Mediocrity" which seemed to have been written under a nincompoopish spell.Sir Cliff Richard never had a down turn in his musical career.I grew up on his mucic and followed his career always. He has been the biggest beacon of light for me since i was four. He's unparallelled and unmatched on this planet.Period..The album under review "Wired For Sound" may not be his best work but it has it's shinning moments and is very fine album.Title song is sensational provided the previous reviewer had a high resolution sound system and the calibre to review great Sir Cliff Richard."Once In a While" is a rocker with a steady beat.In this song and "Young Love" drums were played by Trevor Spencer who has done excellent job. While Graham Jarvis played drums on other songs.Alan Tarney's production has always done magic to Cliff Richard's albums and this one is no exception.Alan Tarney played most of the intsruments and did it very intelligently. His guitar
work on this albun is incredible and this album has one of the most memorable guitar riffs which are very emotional in nature and blend with the songs. No other guitarist in the world could have done a better job on this album, which has always been very special to me since 1981.John Clark played guitar instead of
AT on "Lost In a lonely World" and did an excellent job and the song is interesting and pleasing too. There's not a bad song on this album..This one is a must have album and deserves a four star ranking may be five if not compared with other great albums.
The whole album is finely crafted. The previous reviewer used words for this album that i find unacceptable.Perhaps he is used to listening to some new wave bands with croaking voices. The wonderful, warm voice of Sir Cliff Richard has always enlightened my heart since age four.I have never read these kind of silly comments about Sir CR and the reviewer should apollogise, hencefoth. For another reviewer who has problem with knighthood titles... i have to say this that the knighthood is only granted for the accomplishments not only in the musical career but the accomplishments and extraordinary work done for cahritable causes and other noble deeds for the benefit of humanity and common people. If he knew about this then he would have been less sarcastic and comical about the award of the knighthood by the Queen.
Sir Cliff Richard and Sir Bob Geldoff were knighted for reasons about which the reviewer is totally blank.Any ways, there are always some people who know about the artist very little and know the artist thru only few albums."Wired For Sound" came at the time of Sir Cliff Richards's height of the career and was not a down turn as the other reviewer has suggested.Alan Tarney has been the best producer for Sir Cliff Richard always and time has proven that. After the production of "Stronger" Alan Tarney was not not involved in some of the later projects and those albums were mellow and ballad orineted but less rocking that AT's productions.
But Alan back on the new album "Wanted", it is hoped that it will be rocking more than some albums of the recent years and would bring a new milestone to Sir Cliff Richard's illustrious, glorious and scintillating career. To the Sir Cliff Richard fans - if you want to listen to the wonders of Sir Cliff Richard at his best then listen to "Cliff - 21 Today". with the front cover showing a very young Sir CR blwing candles and surrounded by The Shadows.I have listened to this album all my life and The Shadows's backing is great.Get your self a doze of Hank Marvin's guitar and along with the wonderful voice of Sir Cliff Richard get your transported to a world where this album will open magic casements for you in a fairy land forlorn.Long Live Sir Cliff Richard and Rock On always.Aamen!!

3 out of 5 stars Back to mediocrity.......2001-10-21

Cliff's resurgence was fading when this album was released. Buy any of the other recently re-mastered, reissued albums before this. This album seems silly and awkward. Choose "I'm Nearly Famous" or "Rock and Roll Juvenile" (both great albums) before this. Even "I'm No Hero" is superior to this one. "Wired for Sound" certainly marks a downturn in Cliff's career that he really didn't climb out of until "Real As I Wanna Be" (buy that one too!) Here's hoping the November 2001 release "Wanted" will be good . . .

4 out of 5 stars Ruthless beautiful noise for my fragile ears.......2002-11-30

Band of susans is actually a band I listened to in the late eighties. I remember buying the album; Hope against hope, and thought it was awesome. All that beautiful guitar noise. And don't get me wrong; noise can be a beautiful thing.
I later forgot about them. And then one day years later surfing through amazon's catalog - I stumbled upon "wired for sound". At first I hesitated, but then I thought - ohh what the ....
And now, me sitting listening to "no god" while writing this. This album ...rocks. You could say it's worth losing you hearing for. Crank [it] up.

4 out of 5 stars Cult of synthesizers, the future of music.......2001-11-19

B(if)tek, if you didn't know, is an Australian electronic outfit-- a female duo bent on heady the pleasures of making mind-bending music with machines. Like experimental lab workers, B(if)tek manufacture a sonic drug with their batteries of synthesizers, vocoders (a Roland VP-330 to be precise (same as YMO uses for those synth aficionados out there)) and sonic equipment. Their album "2020" is one of the most thrilling and deep electronic albums that I've had the pleasure of bending my brain around.
B(if)tek combine all of that cult of technology with lush smooth female vocals that put them up there with Curve and Martha & the Muffins (Danceparc/Mystery Walk period). Mixing experimental warm techno, old fashioned robotic electronic, ambient, and '80s new wave, they're a weird but welcome blend of musical styles. Think Underworld, Kajagoogoo, Kraftwerk, Fluke, Talking Heads, Carl Craig, and M+M in a blender. All very 2001 sounding.
This is the cd single for their song "Wired For Sound", featuring the sweet voice of Julee Cruise (you can also hear her doing vox for Hybrid on their "Wide Angle" cd). The remixes are fairly good, but the straight up B(if)tek material from the album is better than the remixed stuff. There is a bonus B(if)tek song, "3 Seconds of Her", an experimental ambient piece that, while very cool, could use a good dose of some drums and beats.
If you're a B(if)tek fan and have been seduced by their wonderful original sound, I recommend this cd single. If you haven't heard them before get their album "2020" instead. You're lucky because Amazon.com is carrying B(if)tek disks now, so you don't have to live in Australia to get them anymore! Don't miss out-- B(if)tek is the future of music!
Watch out, I'll bet that this cd single will be out of print pretty soon....

    5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Redo.......2000-06-18

Hi, I first heard this song in May. I was hook right away. A fantastic Redo by Btek, of the old Sir Cliff Richards "Wired for sound". It features Julie Croose, the singer of the "Twin Peaks" theme song. Might good. Nikolas. Sydney Australia

5 out of 5 stars What was old is new again........2003-11-16

Thank god that ragga is still around, and it's people like Soundmurderer who make it so. Throwin' down all of the old dancehall ragga classics from such legends as Barrington Levy, SHY FX, and a $h!t ton of others. Some of the best track selection i've ever heard, and I've been in the scene since 96'. Keep a close eye on R.A.W's old sets also, he has some similar soundclash sets. Lets keep dem' chunes a rollin' out. Respect.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best ragga jungle mixes ever.......2003-10-23

Soundmurderer puts together one of the fiercest, most pumping ragga sets of all time for your mind-blowing enjoyment. The energy level of this mix does not lag from the earth-shattering opening of Remarc's "R.I.P.", but wails through 52 other great ragga jungle tunes for 70 minutes of classic reggae and dancehall meeting the tight rolls, loops and gut wrenching of full force jungle (drum and bass).
Although too many tracks to list, this set features the big names of 90's jungle like Kemet Crew, Shy Fx, and Krome & Time with their killer, doubled bpm remixes of dancehall kings like Ninjaman, Michael Prophet, and Sly & Robbie.
This album puts together the best of both worlds in an amzing display of DJ vision. A must have!
