Im somewhat not all that happy with it!.......2001-06-04
I got Nude Dimensions 2 first, and that was like the most amazing CD I have ever gotten. Then I bought this CD, and even though it was the first, it's kinda boring and flat. Of course there a few tracks that stand out, but generally it's nothing that I could get really excited over!
I think as I said above, I'm not into it because it's flat, and it doesn't have alot of I spose tone colour and range. Yeah, difdferent melodies, and each track is mixed to the next, but there's this constant simialr single toned beat, the tempo hardly changes, and because it's continuous, you can really feel that. Also I find the song's main melodies and thelyrics to not be sung amazingly different from the next, I don't find much inspiration or soul in them at all.
There's not much reaction from my emotions when I listen to this CD unfortunatley, and that's what I look for when I listen to music..it's all that much better when you can 'feel' it rather than just 'like' it. Tracks like 'take me to paradise', 'you are love', they just do not seem to get at all exciting.
I must say though, track no.3, 'On my Own' by Janet Rushmore is a real stand out. It's sad that all the other songs on the CD are repetitive 6 minuters, and this islike a 3 mintute special, it'sa different, because it's uplifting compared to the rest, the constant beat dissapears, and has beautiful vocals. It's a nice touch. There's also something about track 8, 'Spirit in your soul', it's got a very groovin' melody, and nice lyrics. Yeah, I do like that track. To finish off the compilation though, the perfect track was chosen, Bob Sinclairs 'The Ghetto', but then again, anything I've heard by Bob Sinclair lately Im impressed with, so that's just not to say.
Well, generally, my point of view is don't get this CD if you're a first time Nude Dimensions listener, because it jusy does not have the pep, and is very repititous. Yeah, there are the sexy moments there, but not for the overall CD. I totally recommend Nude Dimensions 2 for a first timer and to anyone else interested in Lounge, Rare Groove, or the whole 'Naked Music' label sound. This one though only if you're a collecter, there's always those few tracks you'll fall in love with!
