most people haven't heard of pascal FEOS. however, mention the name "resistance d" to recovering early-90s raver grognards like me and you might see a flash or two of recognition. that's right - pascal FEOS was half of one of the seminal acts in the old days of sven vath's harthouse label. even when harthouse and the frankfurt trance was beginning to get unfashionable i could always sense that RD -- like other acts of the time that had an edge, like source and cj bolland -- had something special - and i was praying that they'd reinvent themselves and come back on the scene. and FEOS did -- with one other fantastic album ("from the essence of minimalistic sound" -- also highly recommended) that, sadly, didn't get much distribution or play outside his native germany, and a couple of years later, this one.

folks, if you want to hear what a unique mix of the 80's chicago house sensibility, hard UR-style detroit techno at its finest, and just plain raw bangin' funky beats sounds like -- but with a refined edge that none of those ingredients had -- pick this one up. it's the kind of thing laurent garnier would be DJing and producing before he disappeared up his own ass. absolutely essential if you like / liked this sort of stuff (you know who you are.) play track 5 really loud on a really good system, and i defy you not to cream your pants.
