Beneath the Surface.......2005-11-01

This album has some great beats with some very good MCs. This release is the one with the Taste of Chicago remix on it. Which has a very hot beat. I don't know why it wasn't on the re-release. If you like the Molemen you should also check Vakill's albums.

A HipHop Classic..........2005-10-13

Despite the fact that anybody that would charge more than the 25 Dollar value of this CD is obscenely ridiculous, this is a great CD with many quality songs by the Underground production team of The Molemen. The production is top-shelf and the artists are all well-known and respected Emcees (most of which are from Chicago)... if you don't have it already, it's a great addition to any Underground HipHop collection.

Not what I thought.......2004-02-13

This is NOT "The Rasmus" The Finnish group very quickly on the rise in Europe and soon in the U.S. I thought this was an older release of the Finnish Group "The Rasmus" but I was wrong.

Okay with that said I should fairly say that this Rasmus is pretty good. It's got a lot of sampling which makes it that much more interesting to try to guess what's sampled next. Strong beats keep this a pertty rockn' CD also. I believe the Finnish group had to change their name to "THE" Rasmus because of this group.

SSX soundtrack maker.......2001-02-27

I first heard of Rasmus by playing the Playstation2 game, SSX. It's an intense snowboarding game that needed some intense music to go with it.

Not all of the music on the soundtrack is Rasmus, but all the best stuff is.

Because of that game alone, I am picking up this CD. Not only is it good to virtual-snowboard with, it's a good mix to drive to, or work to, or what have you. Vengeance of the 4/4 Beat, for example, is a very groovy tune that makes you want to get moving - or, in the case of the game, get your snowboarding character moving.

If you enjoy electronic dance music, I'll bet you'll enjoy this cd.

Well, when you listen to this album you will be amazed by the excellence that is Rasmus Gardell. The album shows true diversity, with beat orientated tracks like 'Punk Shock' and laid back tunes like 'Tonto's Release', if you like artists such as the Prodigy, then you will love Rasmus, he is a truly amazing artist. Drawing inspiration from 1960s vinyl, Mass. Hysteria have fused soul, British invasion, and (yes, even) country FM radio staples with the raw, danceable Jamaican import shellacs from the early days of Reggae. Recorded in just two-and-a-half days, Mistress and Men has an indie-rock sensibility for lo-fi chic, but teems with tones, textures, and rhythms brought alive by a field trip to South America where the LP was mixed by Victor Rice at Studio Rocha in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Dubbed Reggae for the intelligentsia by Face Magazine, Mass. Hysteria has cultivated a following that extends far beyond the reggae/ska scene. With an aura termed garage-rock chic by The Boston Globe, the band has gigged with Ted Leo/Pharmacists and The Dismemberment Plan, developing a feel for mainstream independent music that shines through on their Mistress and Men. Mass. Hysteria formed in 1999 in Brookline, MA. After the heavy touring and radioplay which supported their first LP, 2002's Waiting for the Day, MH released a limited-edition EP of dub/techno remixes, titled Waiting for the Dub. This early collaboration with Sao Paolo, Brazil-based world music svengali Victor Rice foreshadowed his key role in folding together the influences which makes Mistress and Men so unique

good stuff.......2004-03-14

I originally heard about this band from an online friend in France, and decided to check them out. MH is now one of my favorite bands. The instruments, mixing, and Mouss' voice all go really well. I think my favorite songs on this CD are Knowledge is Power and Donnez-Vous la Peine. To anyone who enjoys French music or even just likes good music, this is the band for you.

More Mass Hysteria..........2001-02-08

Mass Hysteria is one of the best groups coming out from France. Their musical style can be compare to Rammstein (Industrial-Metal) but the lyrics are more socio-political.

I've never seen them live, but when "Donnez-vous la peine" plays in a club, the moshpit begins!!

Another great song on this live album is the cover of Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist".

without a doubt, best french metal band.......2006-10-01

Not only that, this band put out 2 first albums that have a place among the classics of slayer pantera and co. No technical guitar solos, but some good, simple and very heavy riffs (Rammstein style), with tribal drumming and sampling, and a very good singer. If you do not know this band and are looking for something to listen to this is definitively worth it. However do not bother with their more recent albums which although can still be moderetely heavy, the tribal rythms and sampling has left place to new metal ,while aggressive rapping became singing and moaning , and the riffs suck.

But the first 2 albums (of which this is the second) are really really good. Best songs in my opinion are Furia, Donnez vous la peine, Knowledge is power, Contradiction, but a few more a nearly as good.

Mass Hysteria is a french metal band with great riffs a good frontman and some technoid loops to make it groove. Those guys rocks hard. Check it out! LE groupe de metal francais un super album avec des gros riffs bien saignants et tout ce quu'il faut pour faire bouger la tête et le reste.

one of the rare (or only?) really good french metal bands, in a very different genre from gojira (which I personnaly have mixed feelings about.
After 2 poor albums (pop-rock attempts) they come back to the sound that made them famous : very simple but heavy and effective riffs (rammstein), tribal and heavy drumming & sampling, and a rapping angry frontman. This opus has a few great songs (Killing the hype, des nouvelles du ciel, une somme de details...) that level up with old anthems such as contradiction, furia, donnez vous la peine...

For fans of rammstein, slayer, pantera, this band is more than worth a listen. Don't expect any guitar solos however.
