Emotional, Captivating and Astounding........2004-06-03
"The World of Dream Trance" offers some of the most incredible tunes of this genre. With over 35 tracks on 2 cds, you would think there would be plenty of filler tracks. Not the case here. Nearly every song is absolutely wonderful and thought-provoking as well as relaxing. A 2003 Vision-Carriers release, this is one trance compilation you will want to own.

As a yoga instructor/musician, i am constantly seeking out music that moves and transports, centers and calms. I have heard all of Shaman's Dream's records, and this is my fave. The first track has one of the loveliest Shanti chants. I often use this CD in my classes, and it is fine to let it play without interruption, starting gently, slowing building into a steady rhythm, and then coming down easy. Shaman's Dream play frequently at trance-dance gatherings in Los Angeles, so they are well versed in what will move a listener, what will allow the thinking mind to fall away, what will evoke deep exploration. Craig Kohland is a master. If you like Gabrielle Roth, Anugama, Krishna Das, etc. or just Eastern music in general, i think you'll dig this.

Spacey and Gorgous undiscovered gem.......2006-02-02
Making most trip hop artists sound like headbangers in comparison the music of Sugar Plant exists in it's own blissful realm.Employing soft female vocals and a dreamy soundscape that washes over you this Asian group is pure magic.My only complaint is that some songs wander on too long but if you're tired of ordinary New Age or Lounge music Sugar Plant is a terrific group to try.The most beautiful combination of vocals and music since Julee Cruise teamed up with Angelo Badalamenti.
Lie back and chill fer cryin' out loud..........2002-07-17
Melodic, peaceful, and shimmering with soundscapes from the deepest caverns in your mind. Happy/Trance Mellow is ultimately a background soundtrack for the type of rainy days when beams of sunlight shine through. Airy, soft, pulsating synths and guitars that ride on rails slide though a set of speakers like a waterfall of silver. Very, very subdued.

we all have some secret delight that we are torn between wanting to see recieve the acclaim we feel it deserves and wanting to keep it to ourselves, knowing that the popularity it could and/or should recieve would lessen its impact. while we wish that everyone could share the experience, our fortune in stumbling upon something that impacts our lives is something that adds a degree of value to the product that is rarely found within popular culture. such is the case with sugar plant. while there have been a few close friends i dared to play "happy/trance mellow" or "after after hours" for, i usually keep it to myself--not because i fear the reaction some seem to have (that it is too sleepy, too derivitive of the velvet underground or mazzy star or similarly veined--no pun intended--sleep pop bands)--for, to the contrary, everyone i have played their music for has immediately bought the album--but because i do not want to see this music that is so personal reach widespread familiarity. you can say what you want about who they may sound like, or that they're songs are too long or unvarying, but the undeniable truth is that sugar plant has consistantly created overwhelmingly beautiful music without being affected by current trends in music. they stated in an interview that they wanted to make music to play after a rave or similiarly chemically infused long nite, and what they have done is turn out album after album of gorgeous lullabyes, poetry over drones and simple themes, with no other aim than to soothe. they make no pretense of trying to push the bounds of pop music--no drum and bass or ethnic instrumentation--they use samplers and synthesizers as instruments rather than gimmicks, and in their virtuousity with these tools create sounds that are foreign but powerful. perfect for driving, napping, thinking, and anything beyond these innocent diversions you can think of.

this album is very refreshing.i do not listen to very many obscure,unpopular composers(who may have been mentioned be4)nor do i have a.d.d i could listen to this cd for any occasion.it consoles me-"rise"it chills with me-"rainy day"and we all fall in love.i own over 2,000 cds and this is one i listen to often.i suggest giving it a good listen,you'll be glad you did,unless you hate children, you don't hate children, do you?
Melodic but ultimately unsatisfying.......1999-02-17
Rather than pioneer new musical ground, Sugar Plant seems content to wade in mellow synth and ambient fuzz. Much of this new album recalls Jean Michelle Jarre, except looser, if that is possible. Conceptually, this album suffers from a lack of direction, as if everyone involved was bored by the entire undertaking. However, from a purely aesthetic perspective, this album earns its apt appelation. While lyrically and musically irrelevant, Happy/Trance Mellow evinces the appropriate feelings, but the listener would be hard pressed to recall anything specific about this music. Stereolab, Can, and several others have already accomplished this and much more, yet this remains an adequate album for a rainy day.

i bought this cd when i was taking a trip across country and didnt have alot of extra money to spend. wash i ever surprised when i put it in my cd player and heard some of the best trance i have heard in a long time, reminds me of all the time the music sounded alomst real to me(dont know what that was from)gave me the same feelings of peace and enjoyment great cd the only problem i have with the cd is im a dj and i didnt care for how the tracks were mixed from one to the next just slamed to the next one at the end of the beat would have been the greatest cd in the world if the tracks were more smothly blended from one to the next mix it up a bit bring one song in in the high part of the frist song comon i know you guys know how to mix it up make it alittle interesting or is this the frist cd they mixed and they were just trying not to railroad the songs at the end. well enough of the bad this cd is a must for anyone who clams to like and live trance very good track selections some very good unknown dj,s love it a++++++ make sure you trip and roll into this one dont fall on it and break it peace out all

When i first listend to this cd i knew i would be listening to it forever. The hole cd is just great, but if i had to pick an all time best song off this cd it would be song number 1 off the second cd....its just WOW. Go and buy it now you wont regret it.
Pretty good for a budget priced 2 Disc set.......2001-09-10
"The World Of Dream And Trance" is a 2-CD set that contains tracks that are definitive of the Trance genre. The music is electronic, fast, and the only vocals you will hear are a few short samples. Even though it was probably intended as a budget priced, impulse buy collection, "The World Of Dream And Trance" is certainly worth listening to if you like electronic music. Most of the tracks are pretty well constructed, even though a bit repetitive. The only real fault with this 2-Disc set is the quality at which is was recorded...a few of the tracks sound kind of distant or muffled. It's not that bad of a problem though, so it's forgiveable. In any case, "Dream And Trance" is a good way to boost your electronic music collection if you are looking for more music of this type.

THis cd is made by the goa trance group from sweden X-Dream...they are producers...dj xdream from long island is a diferent entity all together...he is a dj ot a producer.....he only has 2 cds trance theory and trnace theory 2.....none of these other x-dream cds have anything to do with him.....

DJ X-DREAM is the man. I've never seen anyone get so much energy from one dj like this guy gives off. X-DREAM is one [awesome] dj and surely any cd he has out is one cd you won't regret buying. If he made it; than I have it!

The Real Stuff.......2001-06-07
This is definitely the best X-Dream album so far, and quite possibly the greatest trance album out there. X-Dream continues to prove the have what it takes to create trance music that doesnt get boring, repetative, or even annoying, despite the average song length being around 9 minutes on the album. They also have found some really catchy and moving sounds to stick in with the beautifully edited synth. Tracks 1-4 are just a non-stop journy....the sound is incredible. 5 is not your normal trance song, but after that the album moves back to standard X-Dream songs. The only reason I didn't give the album 5 stars is that I feel in order to give an album 5 stars, it has to be perfect(so far I haven't found a perfect album). While not perfect, it is their best album and they are continuing the trend toward perfection. I'd say around 94% though. Get it now and find out!
Rough and Rush-ed.......2000-12-08
This CD is probably X-Dream's best CD, it is alot more intense than Trip To Tranceylvania (which you might could call progressive-epic-goa trance?) Relaxed Vortex proves that X-Dream is not limited to just fats, hard psyTrance, that they can do an amazing deep dub track mixed right in with the title track "Our Own Happiness", which goes off on another Goa sound. X-Dream are very talented at what they do, and with their album Radio, proves that they can take Psychedelic/Goa trance to many different levels.
The BEST psy-trance album EVER!.......2000-09-24
Wow!, This album will keep spining in your head for months! The best track is definitely The Second Room (A-Trip), with its arabesquian style synths, plus its X-Dreamish kind of noises that just drive you crazy! It is a much more polished album than Trip to Trancesylvania, which by the way is another great album, but not quite as this. Once you've heard it, you wont want to hear anything else. Lookout for Radio too, which is their latest record. Buy this CD, you'll never regret it.

Don't Be Fooled.......2004-07-30
I hoped I would at least find a handful of high-quality trance selections on this 2001 compilation. Boy, was I mistaken. Most of the tracks featured here are so horrible, dumb, boring and monotonous I can hardly find the words to convey my utter disappointment and disgust. In fact, some of these songs have such incredibly stupid synth-lines, sampling and vocals that I am shocked that this crap would be put to cd and distributed to the public. Frankly, this is one of the worst trance compilations I have ever heard. The only songs I found even remotely enjoyable were "Contact" by Acidophilus, "Dreamstamp" by Hai Lee and "Hooked" by DJ Hother. Zyx Records usually releases solid to excellent trance mixes/compilations so I don't know what the hell happened here. Don't waste your time and money on this garbage. If you want some real trance from some of the best djs in the world, check out DJ Tiesto, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman or try Vision-Soundcarriers' un-mixed compilation series' World of Trance & Trancemaster, which are mastered by Slobodan Petrovic.
