The Teaches of Peaches

Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Eagerly anticipated full length (pun intended) debut for the vulgar Canadian temptress signed to Berlin's Kitty-Yo label, a collaboration with the equally lewd Chilly Gonzales, The Teaches Of Peaches has been described as sounding like a cross between Penthouse Forum and Charles Manson in addition to winning raves in publications from the UK's Wire to Rolling Stone ('surreally funny, nasty and funky...Trent Reznor, Courtney Love and Foxy Brown should all be very, very afraid'). 11 sexy tracks like 'Cum Undun', 'Diddle My Skittle' and 'Lovertits'. Standard jewel case. 2001 release.

3 out of 5 stars I like Peaches, (especially with cream).......2007-05-12

I like Peaches and her music. I'm not even a big fan of the electro-stuff even, I just like her cheeky factor. I dunno why people make such a huge fuss over her lyric content and all that. I'd like to hope she's a wildly orgasmic person who really loves being her and in her own body, that shouldn't be a big deal. Isn't that what we'd like for everybody.

It's just nice to hear someone being up-front about that rather than all thinking we're the only people where such things may be a big part of our person when, every day, on the bus, in the workplace, on the beach we're probably surrounded by people who think and feel the same.

So be a bit 'out there' all those like Peaches and help us all be honest with ourselves about ourselves amongst ourselves. It's also nice to hear a woman able to aknowledge wanting to get laid, wanting to come, just digging wanting, no shame, no disgrace, no loss of dignity, no being judged against stuffed values-NO DISHONESTY!!!!

Cheers

Lloyd

4 out of 5 stars why it's so bad it's good.......2007-02-09

normally i do not like this kind of music...techno, dance, hiphop, rap, that kind of thing. sometimes i hear something that i want to hear again, but most of the time i can pass. (for stuff i do listen to: anything from neutral milk hotel to spirit to aphex twin...anywhere in between, and many places out because i try different genres often) so why can't i stop playing some of these songs?

the music isn't that great, the vocals aren't that great, and the lyrics are probably different things to different people, like adolescent, offensive, idiotic, or...as in my case...hilarious. i don't really care if this persona she's built is real. (she looks pretty damn nasty, and she's not quite as attractive as she seems like she should be. see, she sings about some pretty nasty things, so to see a pimpled and pasty girl who looks like and sounds like she's been in more than a few beds...and done really hilariously sick and disgusting, terribly sinful things in them...is a little disconcerting. in her other album, impeach my bush, long, curly black hairs are squeezed out of the crotch of her--whatever that is, a bikini?--and are perfectly lit from behind. anyway, you can kind of get a feel for what kind of girl this is.) no, if it's all fiction it's not at all important. just knowing that someone has thought about or invented this personality, such an antithesis to classic american culture, helps me to sleep better at night.

4 out of 5 stars Much better live...disc is good, though........2007-01-20

I had a chance to see Peaches on tour w/ NIN last summer and it was great.I thought I would pick up this disc since "F**k the Pain Away" was the only I could really remember from the show.
The songs are very catchy w/ a feel of the 80's synth pop.
Listening carefully...the recording isn't very good.Could've be done homemade. The bonus disc w/ a few remixes sounds much better.I only give it 4 stars because of the recording quality, but that shouldn't stop me from buying her next 2 dsics.

5 out of 5 stars What else is in the teaches of peaches? Huuh What.......2006-10-22

After hearing F the pain away, I officially declare it my new theme song for life. this album is hard, very adult and basically says I don't give a ****. Thats why I love it.

5 out of 5 stars Minimalistic techno and songs with some hard edges.......2006-08-12

I like the wit, wisdom, frank sexuality and humour of this album. Many people won't "get" Peaches. I can understand that. I can understand the fact that many will find this album very difficult and annoying.

Yet this is a very good album, made with very basic and cheap materials. A second hand drum machine and synthesizer seem to have been used by Peaches. However, this album isn't about that - it is a manifesto of low tech and songs which need to be expressed and heard. As such, Peaches succeeds very well.

Please don't listen to those who base their criticisms of this album on such things as technology and adult content. This is a hand-made album - it has an agreeable "chamber music" quality to it - by a woman with a number of things to express. In that regard, Peaches succeeds admirably.

I enjoy the music of Peaches. I am sure many will, too.

5 out of 5 stars I like dirty music.......2002-10-03

this succeeds where lords of acid miserably failed. No wonder this music was heard on so many fashion runways. This is hip and clever while being completely lowbrow. That is hard to pull off. Huzzah and kudos.

4 out of 5 stars PEACHES IS STILL TEACHING HER PEACH.......2002-09-19

I got the cd less than a week ago and I'm still trying to make this cd grow in me for the only fact that I do not dig rap even if it's in electronica music, it kept on telling me... Salt & Pepper making electro-punk or something. When I first heard "Lovertits" some time ago I went crazy for that track and since then, I wanted to get the entire album thinking that it might contain the great single "sandwiches" which is not on the album. There is some really great stuff in the Teaches of Peaches although "Rock show" & "Sucker" do not seem to match to the rest of the brilliant tracks. Give it a try, you might end up making it one of your favorites.

4 out of 5 stars Weird, women are just weird........2002-06-19

Imagine a lo-fi sometimes (le tigre) punky, sometimes female rapper, sometimes rocker chick running around a stage in tight hot pants ala The Donnas, but with twice the talent and you've got peaches. I was recommended to listen to this by the synthpunk discussion list, so I already knew that it had to be good because they're a bunch of punk rock snobs.
Glad to see their recommendation rang true!

5 out of 5 stars PJ Harvey goes Electro !.......2002-03-15

I expected the shouting to be LOUDER on this CD. Actually it is more a casual-mellow singalong voice.. With some X-rated lyrics. Humor yes. Very serious, yes. * * I like the CD better than i expected. Huray 4 eaches! // ...

5 out of 5 stars PURE RAUNCH!! (That is why it's OH SO Good!).......2002-02-07
