The Wise Guys, a German acapella group, perform their original songs (except for a Billy Joel lullabye) in German. Their vocal clarity makes following along on the printed words enclosed in the CD jewel case a simple matter if you know the language. They are witty, accomplished, and "einfach korrekt". Songs are performed in a range of styles with most light and upbeat. The CD is easily accesssible to any student of German and is highly recommended.

Precise, delightfully hip vocal harmonies (strong in all the vocal parts) and incredible energy give this CD an extra jolt that will delight any fan of group vocal styles and inspire singers to go and do likewise.

Knowing the German language (and even better, Kolsch, the local dialect of Cologne) adds to the depth of the experience, of course - lyrics range from funny & satirical to romantic & sweetly sentimental. "Koln ist Einfact Korrekt", a witty, insightful and ultimately uplifting anthem for their hometown, is sure to provoke equal parts of pride and heimweh (homesickness), even if you're not from there!

Still, no matter how much of the lyric you understand, the high quality of each track as well as the incredible enthusiasm make this CD a perfect introduction to this fine group's wonderful music. It's great to see it available domestically.

Final note: In a funny way, the group reminds me of the early Beatles, in that everything they record has a strong melody and glows with positive energy. There is an infectious freshness about the whole thing, as if they're on to something new & really enjoying themselves. Too bad the German music industry doesn't do more to market this in America.

I got this CD when I went to Germany last year, and I love it! Fast songs . . . slow songs . . . even an English song! If you're learning German, it's incredibly educational. If you know German, it is funny and sounds great. And, if you don't know German, it is simply a great CD. Highly recommend! (Thanks Max for getting it for me ;)

This group is awesome. The harmonies of the five guys is impressive. The tekkno song is very funny. It is fun even if you do not know German. If you know German you must have this CD. They sing about their lives and culture in a humorous way. It is a learning experience for the listener!!!!!!!!
