Funky & glitchy. The best of both worlds........2001-12-25

Funkstorung releases one of the finest electronic music albums of the year with VICE VERSA, a compilation of remixes the band has done for various artists in recent years.

If you are already familiar with Funkstorung's lastest release of original material, 2000's APPETITE FOR DISKTRUCTION, then it might come as a shock how accessible and "friendly" many of these remixed tracks sound. The band keeps the music funky and fresh throughout, yet retaining the "glitchy" elements and "crunchy" drum beats of their signature sound. (The word "funkstorung" is German for "interference".)

"Humanity" features beautiful vocals and melancholic lyrics while a heavy beat rythym keeps things in motion. "Salt" has a slow, slinky beat with a unique speak/rapping-style vocal in the mix. "N.C.R." is the record's most overtly funkiest track that's sure to keep your head bobbin'. The best track is saved for last, "C'est la vie", with it's odd filtering of a woman's voice and a swelling emotional synth melody. The rest of the material is all very good.

Brillante, sublime.......2006-02-13

Este disco es el primer registro de un concierto masivo del maestro del verso cínico. No sólo se trata de un breve recorrido en vivo por temas emblemáticos de las primeras producciones de Sabina (Princesa, Güiski sin soda, Cuando era más joven, Pongamos que hablo de Madrid, etc.), sino también de un desfile de amigos y seguidores del Flaco (Krahe, Gurruchaga, Auté, etc.) cantando canciones propias y ajenas. Nótese, además, que el CD contiene la grabación en vivo de una canción (Hay mujeres) que sólo un par de años después iba a ser grabada en estudio, en el disco “Esta boca es mía”. Por lo demás, escucharlo genera una ambigua nostalgia por una voz que alguna vez estuvo pero que terminó llevándose la nicotina. Ambigua, porque su voz actual es, sin duda, una marca personal indeleble, pero la voz de aquellos años era capaz de alcanzar registros que los fans no nos atreveríamos a exigirle en la actualidad. En definitiva, este CD doble es, junto a “Nos sobran los motivos”, un indispensable de la música en español…

Excelente disco de buena salsa!! buena música... no entiendo como no fue un gran hit!

Este disco esta medio regular. Nada lo destaca, pero nada es fatal tampoco. Ahora, tengo que ser sincero, no soy muy fanatico de la salsa romantica y el bolero. Lo cual es decir que si le di 3 estrellas es mucho y es porque los musicos si tocaron con corazon.
Discos como este y el sobrevivir de Olga Tan~on es parte de la razon por la cual el reggeaton se ha vuelto tan popular con nosotros los Boricuas jovenes. Aqui no hay ese sabor de la vida que nosotros los latinos tenemos. Una forma de ver la vido positiva, y que no tiene problema ponerle una bromita a cualquier tema. El romance escrito aqui es muy generico, serio, y se siente como escrito para mayores de 35 an~os.

Gilberto Santa Rosa one of the best soneros of today. He won a grammy for this cd that should tell you somthing. Overall i really enjoy this cd if i were u i would get it. Top notch salsa at its finest.

For Santarosa's fans this is a must. The record is full of UNFORGETABLE poetry, very meaningful lirics, and the salsa/bolero versions make this record a winner, for you can enjoy it whatever the mood you are in. If you want to dance go for the salsa versions, but if you are feeling romantic then bolero is the way to go. This CD contains some songs that are very likely to be classics such as the unforgetable PERDONAME. If you are a salsa-lover you'll apreciate this record for what it is: a MASTER PIECE.

I was exceptionally impressed with this cd. My favorite song is Si te Dijeron, which as with many of Santa Rosa's work embodies a perfect combination of sabor and poesia. The rest of the songs are thoroughly enjoyable, such as Como el que No Quiere la Cosa, which is fast and flirty. A very good investment in my opinion.
